Crazy part is it's not even optimized. You haven't reached the soft cap of 60 INT at least, you currently don't have access to Terra Magica a mage buff spell that increases all magic damage up to 35% for anyone who stands in it, you currently don't have the gravity staff and the Carian regal sceptre/Lusat's staff. Then there is the Magic scorpion charm, the great sorcery charm, godfrey's icon, and ether the basic sorcery charm or radagon icon.

One could in theory (this is a randomizer) get a meteorite staff to put in the off hand, then get ether carian regal sceptre or lusat's staff, terra magica, 60-80 Int, and perhaps a couple of talismans. You're right about the spell doing physical damage however Terra magica doing 35% of all magic damage helps here since it mostly goes towards the base damage. As for certain buffs, anything to increase Int will make the gravity magic do more damage because that affects the Sorcery scaling.

Elden ring spells actually feel like a full fantasy repertoir of cool powers that fits various situations.

@@carstan62 Yeah I can kind of understand that, but at the same time, you can never go back and do it at the difficulty it was back then, even if the game never changed. Strats become more optimized, knowledge grows, players get better, but the fight stays the same. Classic WoW was a shock for a lot of people when the game that took months to get to the end of at it's launch took days.

I played this game until NG+8 and the last run was my best experience. My build? Full 99 int,faith, and mind. NO STR, Vigor and endurance. Its painful when a random mob can one shot me on NG+8 but I can also one shot everything.

I don’t understand the hate magic gets. Strength builds with insane amount of health plus 20 health potions all while wearing the heaviest armor swinging the highest damage duel wielding weapons……you can just spam heal then roll in or jump strike. Back off and repeat. I’ve always felt strength builds literally took no skill

Because it actually requires to read the boss patterns and take the risk to find the optimal moment where they will stay in place long enough for the damage to be relevant. But of course people who never used a spell ever will act like that's much easier than spammin R1 or jump attacks

@@naproupi yea it requires a lot of setup, i mean im not going to sit here and say that it isnt cheesy but theyre late game spells. the thing that bothers me is you can brute force so much with some weapons that have insane stagger potential or just with massive bleed procs that can trivialize certain encounters. i watched my buddy spam a katana with bloodflame blade against maliketh and deleted him instantly. but nobody talks about that because people who have never used magic will see a clip like this and think magic is instantly easy mode. out of all my characters int is honestly the most boring way to play the game in my experience, not because you can one shot (melee builds can do that too), it's because on the 70% of bosses that you cant hit with this spell or comet azur, the only spell that is actually good against them is night comet so they won't dodge it. otherwise they just side step or the spell is way too inefficient fp wise you might as well just use an ash of war instead.

I used a strength build first play through, dex second playthrough, and now on my third I’m running an int build and holy it’s infinitely more difficult than any other build until you get late game with the op spells like comet azure and the meteors but that’s until like level 100 so after 30 hours I’m not even there yet.

Magic in Dark Souls games had always been op in pve. The only title I remember it sucked I believe it was demon souls were you had limited casts per spell and you basically had to reach the boss without using any spell.

@@Kumire_921 DS1 had limited uses, but you could equip more than one copy of a spell if you wanted. I.e. Soul Arrow had 30 uses per slot. Dark Bead was 6, Crystal Soul Spear was 4. DS2 used the same system but had consumables that could restore uses of a spell. This was likely to make the "never rest at a bonfire" achievement possible. DS3 was the first (dark souls) game to have the FP bar and infinite usage spells.

There are efforts. Getting the spell for example. Not to mention said spell can jump between master sniper and stormtroopers levels of accuracy, sometimes all meteors will get the shot and others you'll be lucky if more than one succeeds.

they are broken 99% of the time, wdym only a few units with magic reflect shields can deal with it. all others are helpless against magic and all bosses become trivial, maybe except renala early

@@angulinhiduje6093 Not really. They tend to require a lot of setup, and most people end up spamming pebble anyways. If you are basing the ability to oneshot a boss, melee can do it too. There is a video of someone oneshotting just about every boss with melee. Although the catch is they use a lot of setup, just like you would with magic. I have played both a strict melee, and a hybrid spellsword build. Magic is only sometimes stronger, and sometimes weaker, it depends on the boss. Fromsoft has done a fairly good job with balancing magic in elden ring IMO. You would be straight up defaming fromsoft at this point to argue otherwise.

@@dolphin.594 l take. I do t defame by saying magic is the easy way. If you only use pebble that's on you lol. Dark souls always let you choose the difficulty and magic was always the easiest. That's their game design, it's not negative. It's single player game mostly, it dosent have to be balanced. And btw most melee one-shots were based on the bug of improper damage calculations if you are holding 2 weapons and use buffs. It got patched.

@@thelir2023 There is a video of a guy one-shotting all the elden ring bosses with the giant-crusher, a colossal weapon. Just look up "one shot elden ring bosses" you can find plenty of examples. Unless you ban all of Ash of wars and all buffs and debuffs, then range or melee both have one-shot capabilities.

it IS hard, but like every other game in the series, and like most games in general, it is easily abused, nothing more. you cant claim that a game is easy just because you abuse the crap out of the mechanics, but at the same time its fromsofts fault for not gating their games properly to prevent the abuse, theyve been notoriously bad at that since day one xD

@@Laoruperteen18 From's main idea behind Elden was to encourage players who would never play a From game, to give it a try and enjoy it. More people have beaten Malenia (arguably most difficult boss to solo) than Vicar Amelia (second mandatory boss in BB). Not to mention that ER sold over 20 million copies while BB sold 2 million. Please, don't get me wrong, Bloodborne is my favorite game, but From's inclusion of OP builds, summons, etc...have made the game very accessible. People who still want a challenge can simply play without summons/OP builds and have fun as well.

Hell even sekiro has immense cheese capabilities despite the fact the significant limitations on build variety. If the player is stronger, but the bosses also become stronger, then what exactly changes?
