Why does this seem like such a cut and dry situation. 1). Price is agreed upon. 2). Price changed after wasting time getting there (A question that could've and should've been asked when negotiating price). 3). Buyer perceives the behavior as untrustworthy. (Its the sellers fault that he did not inform the buyer that the price could be increased if a certain variable is present) 4). Buyer loses trust and wants to give 50% to get there and 50% when the item is secured. I personally believe that's warranted skepticism. Seller could use Master Looter to ensure the other 50%. 5). Ironically the seller was bothered that he would be wasting his time thus increasing the cost of the staff. So, he makes the bright idea (with his time in mind) to invite a low-level character increasing the difficulty and time wasted. 6). Mage gets upset that this seemingly straight-forward transaction is being further complicated by a hypocrite who supposedly values his time. He lashes out. I think showing displeasure is appropriate (at some level) when you want to buy a product and the seller is wasting your time and making things considerably more difficult than it should be. Imagine a real-world scenario where you go to the store and a transaction that was supposed to be relatively straightforward becomes significantly more frustrating due to the sellers incompetence and greed. 7). Seller subsequently ignores Mage because he's ultimately "bothered" by his attitude and is incapable of understanding why. In conclusion, the seller should give him back the gold and call it a day. Now hopefully the seller knows what questions to ask before finalizing the cost of goods.
