Four months of work, even with very little experience in unreal engine, I'm pretty sure most people would be able to do better than this. I tinkered with Unreal 5 today for funsies and feel confident in that statement.
@@shandromand1675 As someone with UE4 experience. I can tell you that this 'game' would likely take an average Developer maybe a week if not shorter. So for a complete newbie, it'd probably be one month tops to learn from the ground up and that's assuming you're not a fast learner.
@@_yakumo420 What I am puzzled by is the 'bottom' of their world. Ice? Really? I mean, why not just find something that would reasonably be considered bedrock and use that instead?
As a dev using Unity/Unreal/Godot engines I don't think you can have this low FPS without doing it on purpose. Maybe they'll add a cash shop with an FPS boost?
The funny part is that if these guys wanted money so bad they could have spent less than half of the effort they have (which obv isn't much) and made a visual novel with 18+ elements and made 10x the money, with no reputational damage and probably creating a fanbase. People are so dumb.
Don’t worry guys, it’s just the pre-expansion to the expansion of the beta to the pre alpha of the main storyline, it won’t be released until 2036 so don’t expect much until Microsoft and Sony both partnered together to make the PlayBox in order to take down Nintendo once and for all. Sega buys Nintendo to expand their empire to fight against MircoSony but they ended up buying them for an astounding $100B ending the console wars permanently.
@@jbark678 Playbox is funnier but Xstation is something so corny yet so satisfying that I could actually see Sony naming the PS10 that... (Technically the PS1 was also called the PSX... so XS would be distinguishing)...
There's a good quote from Joseph Anderson for this occasion, regarding how it's occasionally called the most broken MMO out there. "Calling this game broken would be a disservice because saying that something is broken implies it was once functional."
everyone needs to ignore pre-release game hype, wait for the game to release and then watch post-release content to decide whether its worth their money. giving money to game companies pre-release is just asking to be scammed now.
@@skinnymulligan5210 Absolutely this. On the one hand.. I'm glad backers lost their money.. but on the other.. I hate that the people running this scam got that money.
Someone needs to make a "how to make Dreamworld in Unity/Unreal Engine" tutorial, just to really show how absurd this fucking game is, seriously I bet most people that are good in unity can even throw this whole thing together in a couple of minutes/hours, I know I could as a unity beginner but I'd take a bit longer lul
Nice video!! Very engaging from beginning to end. Nevertheless, businesses and investment are the easiest way to make money irrespective of which party makes it to the oval office.
My high school boyfriend once asked my how i managed to always be right. I told him the secret was that i changed my mind whenever if found out i was wrong. It is surprising how people forget u were wrong when you simply change your mind and instead of digging your heals in.
This may be one of the most important steps we take as a community of MMO enthusiast. With all the attention TBC and things like this is getting, its easy to see that a revolution is right around the corner.
I mean you can say the Biden video is real but if I see something in the background cover something in the foreground I'm going to think something is off.
Anyone who still denies they can and do generate audio and video clips of politicians that are indistinguishable from reality by most, are so far out of touch with reality. Just google images created by artificial recurrent neural networks. They can make up new people out of thin air and you wouldn't know the difference, but to make a copy of an existing person that is indistinguishable to a human observer they can only do that for people for whom tons of stock footage exists. People like celebrities and politicians ... You can also look up how Hollywood has been in talks for year about paying actors for the license to use the likeliness of their voice .. it's cheaper and easier for everyone involved if the well known actor lets the producers train an AI to generate their voice. It's actually quite simple once they've recreated a model of your entire mouth cavity shape. They can then use the generative model to produce output, check the output against known data and repeat iteratively
The "going on a crusade reaction" is one of them, but not the only one. A big issue with scams is the shame that people feel when realizing that they have been scammed. Often they keep it to themselves, which is not good for anyone. So if you know someone who got scammed, don't shame them. Instead encourage them to contact law enforcement and or speak out to warn others.
why would you trust two guys to make what takes teams years to accomplish. I know that there are rare cases of small teams accomplishing a lot but this is insane.
@@toreole5831 For a 2 person developement team that's definitely a reasonable amount imo. But the thing is these guys absolutely suck at what they're doing, you could give them all the money in the world and it wouldn't change a thing. I would say an experienced unreal engine developer could recreate everything we see in this video in like 5 hours because of all the prefab assets, with no money at all even :D. For big companies that's different though you're right, because they have so many more things to pay for.
@@Muftaay Even 5 hours is really generous... They just slapped store bought mechanics and probably stolen models into the first person example that UE4 has. But you are basically right with 60k in their pockets and some skill they would be able to do some small indie rpg with networking. But they have only the money but no skill. They don't even know how to setup collisions for mesh properly.
@@Muftaay valheim was made by a 5 man team over years and cost at least a million(i think). Anyone who promises an MMO and isn’t spending millions and have high fidelity assets and a team smaller than 100 I’ll shut that shit down real quick. If it’s a standalone game low poly assets and nice story I understand raising 60k but mmo’s cannot be made by small teams.
I was so hoping he went back there and pulled down a green screen with his background to reveal... his normal background room with all the collection items. (Jacksepticeye did that once and it just threw me off so much, removing a his normal background green screen just to reveal his normal background, apparently he did because he broken his lamp)
Asmongod back at it. Keep it up man. Good reactions, well finally an actual genuine reaction by a huge streamer in my humble opinion. (Asmons reacton are pretty much always like this.)
A modernized remake of ultima online would be nice. That was a very different and ambitious mmorpg, even compared to mmos today. The closest thing fans moved onto was Guild Wars.
5:35 Exactly. People in that world are in an ivory tower above the clouds in their own bubble and are so far removed from reality that nothing matters to them. Oh, I wasted ten million on a failed mmo that had no hope of ever succeeding? I'll just ask Daddy for another 100 million to fund my new startup that makes tuxedoes for squirrels. These are the most narcissistic, self centred people you'll ever find on this Earth: the children of the wealthy.
normally when a game is trash or something to that effect, many would make the joke "this is freshman year college project level"... but honestly that joke doesn't even work here
Its ok, WoW is a scam monthly subscription for beta access to an incomplete game. How many years has blizzard disappointed the mass of their playerbase now? You thought 60 grand was a lot. Well that cant buy Koticks next yacht, can it?
I could make this in Unity engine in a day. WTH is going on with the world of Indies. I am making an RPG it's been 2 years in development and still not a playable demo i am ready to release let alone an alpha. Wanna know how much i wll charge for my RPG once it is done and updated with custom assets? A whole 5 dollars. Some dev's need a kick in the A hole. No MMO in my game. Tho i do have a playable FPS multiplayer game at the moment in ALPHA. Actual ALPHA.
Actually, that's the largest number you can write with a SIGNED 32-bit number : ). That happens to be 2^31 where the final bit is used for the sign more or less, that negative number being 0b10000000000000000000000000000000 (the front digit is -(2^31), aka -1*(2^31) + 0*2^30 + 0*2^29 + ...). Unsigned max is 2^32-1 where all digits are positive and the front digit is 2^31, aka 2^31 + 2^30 + 2^29 + ... ;).
It's just sad that after a decade and a half, we have to still fight on an MMO for what is best to play. There are fucking RC cars on Mars and the best MMORPG around is a shitty re-release of a 15 year old expansion of a game that is also questionable.
Have ANY scam starter games actually done well? Any MMOs? The only one I can think of, off the top of my head, is Albion Online, which had a good first year but I think it's not getting much buzz these days. I'd say it was a solid game by an experienced team, so that's one out of maybe hundreds of games that went nowhere.
27:16 F That completely. First impressions on the tail end of the hype train is everything. You cannot hand in an essay that requires 500 words and you've only written one sentence of 12. The teacher is going to throw that shit back into your face and ask "Why did you even bother to turn it in?" "What did you expect as a grade, anything but an F?" The communities may not like push backs of release dates, but if any developer needs a fucking wake up call. Just look at Cyberpunk, No Man's Sky, and Fallout 76.
It's so weird that you can literally see when a project lacks any passion or soul at all behind it.. Like this game doesn't even hit the baselines for QoL, to pretend like they even TRIED to do anything but make a bit of money and peace out would be delusional as fuck.
Did people actually had expectations from a $60k kickstarter ? that's the salary of one dev for a year, not that this excuses how the situation was handled but c'mon now, even the amount AOC got on their KS is pennies when it comes to the costs of making even a modest game.
i interested in game development and i did a game who looks al least more stable than this in my first week of learning, i have to improve a lot but i see this is maybe one month of working with not so much intention into the details or completing anything. Im not agaisnt this developer and shure put an alpha out there but at least complete something like the character view or the pickaxe. U see, to me its better to do that and put an empty realistic landscape than putting a lot of buildings, i really prefer a natural landscape instead of this.. doing cities its the last thing because it requires a lot of work
why would you ever fund something that looked like the biggest crap since the beginning? lol people are whining, and they paid for something that since the very first video looked like trash. its their fault lol
I honestly don't see the issue. It's the alpha. It looks better than when Asmon explored Shadowlands jumping on chains and mountains during pre-patch 🙄
3:03 I'm not quite that old, but multi-disc games existed during the CD era as well. Couldn't download Command and Conquer Generals: Zero hour forever because 1 of 2 is gone, So I have copies on Origin now. Had a scare with Diablo 2 discs once. Have 4 disc games like KOTOR, Battlefield 1942, UT:2K4- oh, pardon. That last was a 5-disc game with a 6th "Play Disc". F.E.A.R. is 5 discs as well.
And what was said I think is large reason WHY FF XIV is doing so well. Yoshi and the team behind FF is transparent, yes there are glitches, yes the servers are straining under the new players today, but the dev team is aware of this and is looking to actually fix it, all the while making new, good content. Can you say the same thing about the other MMO's. NW is a half baked beta, witch absolutely shit crafting system and bricks video cards. The point of a MMORPG is to make it accessible, NOT lock it behind only the people with the best systems.
Asmon you aren't the smartest either. 6:30 It's one of the oldest tricks in the book to fake a fake in order to lure critics into making a false claim devaluing their overall credibility... (might look up the word 'trap') Which you can use strategically at certain places where you expect it would have a good impact, for instance. I'd say, assume for yourself, but sometimes it can be helpful to be criticizing rather than not stating suspicions, even if they might be wrong, then all know better at least. Because there are certainly lots of fakes, so it's understandable you will some times be a little over eager. So I don't get your "I don't even know"... So tell me, how do you suspect the next wow expansion to be bad? I don't even know... or I know: cause the previous ones were not as good, mostly. And tellll me, you weren't copying that story from someone.
