I picked up UE5 beta like 2 weeks ago and this is the first thing that I saw. You have no character model? Grab the default mannequin and slap some color filters on it. Ez
With my experience in UE4, I can tell you their trailer is nothing but the demo levels of a handful of marketplace assets packs, some of them awkwardly smashed together, and most of them not designed for multiplayer usage. I wouldn't be surprised if these guys had to watch youtube tutorials on basic blueprint functions, just to get their shitty alpha working.
As soon as I saw the mannequin, I was like... So they just used every default thing possible in UE? How could you look at this and ever want to back it? I'm guessing people didn't see this out of the gate, I hope.
Dude, this entire game is made from free assets from the ue4 engine. The avatar is literally the default ue4 model with the default animation lmfao. The only thing you saw was a built world (probably pre-built) with simple user interface that could be made by a skilled games developer in literally 5 minutes
I'm currently learning how to use Unreal Engine myself and when I recognized the default UE4 avatar being used with zero changes to it I was like "no fucking way this guy is serious"
@@ninny65 I mean UE4 automatically does replication even.. I doubt they went beyond just checking the replication box on the actors. Epic makes everything so easy yet still no one takes full advantage of it. It is hard for me to be for any side, you had to be pretty ignorant to buy into this, and you must be extremely ignorant to try to sell something like this, there are so many simple things they could have done that would have made it so much better and legitimize it. And to start with your first game being a "open world" or "MMORPG" just kind of puts the nail on the head, this is literally the biggest and most common mistake every new dev makes. I have spent way to much time in UE4, I know how hard it is to stay motivated and stuff so I have a soft spot for these people. I hope they get out of this "Dunning-Kruger" kind of effect they are in where they think they know anything about the engine when in reality they don't know even 1% of it. Unfortunately It is too easy to learn a bit of UE4 and get really excited and start making your crazy little game then getting sucked into the marketing of it.. Marketing alone, making the kickstarter, it is all kind of difficult, now they listen to their fans and shit and really can't produce anymore, they needed to stay in hibernation learning mode for another years or two before they could ever think they would produce anything. There is just so many layers of learning to UE4. You need to learn the Hierarchy, how object orientation works, how all the optimization systems work.. Culling.. There is just thousands of things they haven't learned yet which is why the game just runs like trash, and looks like bullshit, it is a bunch of assets mashed together that don't even remotely work together , they are using one of the more popular stylized environment assets, they are using default UE4 mannequin and animations, mixamo free animation, really pathetic to the trained eye. I kind of admire their courage though to be honest, I have projects that are 10 times better than this yet id feel so much shame trying to sell it on kickstarter. You can't knock their aspiration or confidence, they are obviously really ignorant but they really are dreamers.
The name itself tells you it's probably going to be a failure... A project with a name so bland with no personality and a logo so ugly shows how much effort they are willing to put into the project...
on kicker starter their are alot of lets call them investors people playing with real high profile money, their literal job is investing into everything that even remotely could workout. they do it in a way that even when 9 out of 10 investements fail the 10th one recupes the losses of the 9 and makes money on top.
@@SquaulDuNeant I don't have a problem with "outdated-looking 3D" styles. The problem with this game is, its 3D assets have 0 thematic consistency. It outright looks like someone took a bunch of 3D model assets and threw them all in the game without sorting it out. Even the likes of Garry's Mod at least tries to make the default world look coherent enough before you turn it into your playground.

Most likely they downloaded some assets without paying. A YTuber (Callum) also investigating this dumpster fire reached out to the asset creators in the UE4 market place.

i am game developer with 3 years of experience, it takes a lot more time, yeah the game looks like crap, is not original etc, but still there is a lot of work even whe is using a lot of assets, lot of works of course doesnt mean the game is gonna be good or is gonna look great
The fact that so many people fell for this kickstarter campaign just proves why education in media literacy is long overdue and at this point it's probably too late if there's people that unironically gave money to these clowns for this garbage
one of the most common way for people on any media platform to lie is to appeal to emotions and to try and convince people of things without conveying actual information. Or if there is information it's very one sided.

I love how obviously 0:40 is splices between 3 different clips hes falling with the character mesh placed in animation so its not actually a falling animation the resource counter changes (0:42) during the hero landing animation which is also just placed with the asset so its not a functioning landing animation then another splice but this time on the ground in first person
Im a beginner in programming, and i started laughing when i saw the "trailer", im working on one project and it looks originally and good than this, just want to tell you my project doesnt have 90% things i wanted to implement, and it still looks better lol.
Minecraft has that fog too. It's not for performance, it's more to hide the unloaded textures/chunks that look really bad while loading. You can see like mobs floating because the terrain didn't generate yet, etc. The performance choice is to turn it off.
Do people not realize he is just using all the assets from the unreal store. They are just a demo scene like when they are walking through the snow/mud and then switch to an entirely different demo scene like the ship on water. All they did was use open a scene and add the unreal water plugin from 4.26. I bet all those models are just free assets thrown into the scene. Imagine the people that actually thought this was anything. That’s just sad.

Man that speaker reminds me of the warehouse in a company I worked befor. The workers would go around with speaker around their chest that would react to voice commands to make entrys in the system for every item you took out of the warehouse. About the video speaker: Who would actually run around with their music being heard by everyone?? Like imagine a weeb running with this while doing the naruto run and listening to some cringe as music. On topic of the video: The Trailer should be understandable enough why this is a scam right?
as a unreal engine user I can say that this guy just took all the free templates from epic games and mashed them into one but trash servers so nothing loaded
as someone who took game design in high school, you would get an F on that even if it was your first game and you only had a week to make it in my class

Atlas is actually good, now, particularly on non-dedicated and private servers. They went through 500+ updates since then. Dreamworld is blatantly a scam and is unsalvageable, but makes fucking internet comedy gold.

To be fair, it has 3 FPS in the trailer not because of bad optimizations, there wasn't any. It probably didn't exist pre-alpha (late alpha/beta is when you'd focus optimizations and performance).

you wouldn't believe the amount of projects like this, i'm a 3D artist and especially at the peak of nft I got constant message and 'interview' with two buisness graduate, wanting to make the next second life with a ground breaking idea: you can sell and trade, own stuffs, in huge gigantic universe dedicated to different market, all in realistic 3D graphics! Of course they have no knowledge of 3D, no knowledge of making a game, no art actually, just a fancy website and fancy words with big number thrown around ( investor, millions, kickstarter, next big thing, market blablabla..) and of course they can't pay you...yet but when it's gonna be the next second life / sims / world of warcraft then you'll make banks. Small tips for indie dev: if huge gaming companies don't make it, it's because it's borderline impossible/very very hard. It WILL be impossible for two devs.
