ASSA DP 2400 Pick & Gut Video. Two pairs of sidebar sliders, six ASSA barrel spools with matched countermilling in the plug. Thanks to Randy Perkins for sending me this lock!
Thanks +APACHE-LOCKSPORT! I've certainly used the strategy of removing one element to master picking the other, but in this case I was more referring to the tendency of either the sidebar to top pins to bind first. At least in my experience this will happen and when you've completed picking that element, you will get a signature plug turn and know with confidence that you can move onto the other element. With this lock the tolerances were so good that I never got that signature plug turn, so I could not know for sure that I had set the sidebar until I could gauge how the drivers were responding to picking. This one was a fun lock for sure :)
Thanks Alex! Really appreciate the kind words :) One of the reasons I ask the trivia questions I do is to encourage folks to go out and dig up some information on a lock they might find interesting. I know I've learned about many locks just by hearing of them and then going to find more information. I'm happy you've learned some fun stuff :)
Thanks man! While I got it quickly on camera I spent several hours with it before making the video to learn my way around it. This was easily the fastest I was able to open it. It's a very tough lock!
Wow man, that is a difficult pick and once again you make it look like a cakewalk. lol Great job and Informative to boot... I got an SVD from Randy but I am still working on impressing the Supra-C Real Estate Locks. He wanted me to try and get the 3 he had, but I got one right away and the other two are much harder as for bitting and the tolerances are better because of less wear on the lock. So I haven't tried to pick on it until I get the job done. lol But I did just pick up a DP 2400 and can't wait to see if I fair well or not. I'll keep you posted. Cheers & Happy Pickin!!
So sorry that I forgot to pick this winner last Friday... Looks like you're lucky #4! PM me your address and I'll send the PacLock out to you. Congrats!
Nice job. Couldn't get back in after I took the wafers out. Wouldn't have done it half as good in a video. I gotta get myself a 4400 and I want to try the Desmo.
Thanks Randy, and thanks for sending me this lock! Took me a while to develop a reliable method for this one because it just wouldn't isolate for me, LOL. I'd like to try a Desmo too :)
This one was unique for sure. Not being able to tell when I'd finished with the sidebar made it much more tricky, even though there were only four sliders.
5 sliders which interact with the side bar, there is also a key tip pin so don't know if you are including that also. I will say 6 just to be different😉👍😘😘 Another great insightful guide, thanks 👍👍👍😎😎😎🔐😍😘
Thanks so much +Pick Beard! Really appreciate the kind words man! No trickery in the trivia question this time around... I was feeling badly that nobody got the correct answer on my last one, LOL.
Wow... I think that's amazing. You said it was a difficult lock to pick, but it only took you a little more than two minutes to pick it. I hope the lock is as good as I think it is, though. Great work!
Not to worry, this is a VERY good lock. Remember that what you see on RU-vid is only final step in what is often an very long and difficult process of learning to pick the lock. That was certainly the case for me as I attacked this lock. It's too bad that many folks see these videos and expect that we are trying to show that the lock is faulty or otherwise not very good. With me, it's the opposite. I generally try to only pick locks that I think highly of. My goal is to explore them, not show their faults.
@@tumbl3r thanks for the answer. I get that the process of getting to here is very long and windy, but I'm thinking that some thieves and burglars would take the time to learn lockpicking in order to get in where they want - considering they had tried brute forcing already. I mean, anyone could master these skills taking the time and effort, right? Not many would, I am sure, but somehow I still think it is worrying that it only took you so little time to get it open, minding that it is the highest graded lock made by Ruko for consumers. It is fascinating to watch, anyhow. With that said, I think that flaws should be made public in order to have better locks, but I can see (and hear) that you think this is a great lock with little to no flaws. And that is amazing! So please keep picking locks - you're doing great!
The DP system has implemented masterkey on both top and side pins. Most of the sliders can have 2 cuts. So the amount of pins you have to buy is insane. In the easter break I will take one of the cylinders apart with the CLIQ function, which is the level above the 4400, and has an additional servo engine to release part of the sidebar
I will be interested in your findings. I'm possibly going to be getting a VERSO CLIQ, and have been thinking about and researching various ways to attack it.
I just received the 4400 from the UK last week. Cost me a fortune, LOL. I can imagine pinning those things up all day would be tedious. Getting those two little halves together and into the lock is actually pretty tough. Probably pretty expensive for smiths to invest in the DP system because of what you said about the number of pins one has to buy. It is cool that they have, at least somewhat, addressed the sidebar entropy problems with the Twin series.
We just call them Ruko DP Cliq / DP+ / DP640 (6top+4side+0electronic). ASSA use 4400/2400 at home and for some export markets its DP11/DP10. I want to cover other parts of the line on video first, so not yet sure where to introduce the CLIQ. Our cliq is no longer based on DP but the Triton, which is like the d12 with a sidebar. the twin is 1981 technology.
thanks for taking the time to make these videos. I became hooked on these types of videos only after searching for basic home door locks to install on my house I never knew there was so much to know about locks Would you have any particular double deadbolt lock that you would recommend for a residential home?
You are very welcome! Thank you for taking the time to watch them :) I'm with you! Just when I think I've learned about every strange high security lock out there something new pops up and blows my mind! There seems to be no end to them. It's great fun learning about and exploring these elegant mechanical systems.
Cool lock and pick! I'm not looking for the giveaway, so I'll just add that the MT5+ sliders have 6 possible positions with false gates on each. I'm getting one I scored off eBay for $22 shipped w/ 1 key! I know you are looking for one so I'll keep looking for a good deal if I can find another cylinder. :)
Thanks +draukan! That's a heck of a score for the MT5+. Please do send me a line if you find another deal like that. I've got a bunch of locks in the pipeline right now, so I've not been trolling eBay as much as usual.
Great picking sir that was a fast open. You really are good nice job. Have you tried any attempts on mul-t-lock cliq ? You do some pretty high security stuff.
Thanks! I've not had my grubby paws on a CLIQ yet. I've researched ways to approach them, but not had any chance to try it out yet. It seems like ASSA Abloy is integrating CLIQ with most of their locks these days. Pretty cool concept... Almost like dual factor authentication.
