I wonder if, at one point, Elise was meant to be a secondary playable character in Unity. She just FEELS like an unrealized playable character, her outfit, her skills, etc. Not to mention only she & Haytham got original novels all to themselves up to that point (2014).

My guess is this is do to Ubisoft being, let's say 'old fashioned'.

I really liked the black flag novel because I’m a big Edward fan. I loved the elaboration on his backstory. I also wished the Forsaken novel had more of Connor too since I wanted more of his backstory and inner monologues, but it was still a very good read

Um blackflag isn't Edward's journal it's him retelling the story to his daughter on the ship

I remember really enjoying reading Forsaken in 4th or 5th grade. It made me appreciate Haytham a lot more, knowing how he thinks and sees the world. Also the points of the story with Haytham and his brotherly relationship with his eunuch companion we meet in the opening mission (the carriage driver I think) were pretty fleshed out.

I do prefer books with original content like Forsaken or Unity but even the "copycats" can be... interesting, in a way. The AC2 novelization, for example, shed some light on some content that was deleted from the game, like the encounter with Piero de Medici. On the other hand, I find the removal of any reference to Desmond and the Present Day stupid. Okay, you don't have to include the actual Present Day scenes but do keep things like Minerva's message consistent.
@urnie_burnie
@urnie_burnie 4 года назад
I agree. If the novels had kept the reverences to Desmond, it would have been a lot more accurate to the games. It would also have been much easier to get a book dedicated to Desmond's story and have a better understanding of his past and story line without having to cut between the stories of different assassin's that he is related to as all of them have their own novels.

I have only read the first 3 books and my favorite by far is the secret crusades. I now really want to read forsaken since everyone talks so good about it and is from the same author of secret crusaders(oliver bowden is the pen name 2 authors shared)

I actually really liked Odyssey's book. The writing was off but I really liked how they changed the story to be more similar to the older games. But that's just my opinion.

I think I have a theory about both the Assassin's Creed Odyssey game and novel and why the book is canon while the game is not. So, you guys ever played Assassin's Creed Liberation where the premise is you play through this game Abstergo made using Aveline's memories and there are certain scenes that they have cut out or changed to make themselves look good, but a hacker places the Citizen E NPCs into this game where when you assassinate them, they reveal an uncut version of a scene Abstergo changed, giving you more context of the story as well as giving the sense that you're being lied to? Yeah, I believe that's what the game Odyssey is, a modified and changed up version of Kassandra's adventures in Ancient Greece made by Abstergo as a way to make things 'exciting' while the novel itself is an in-universe book from modern day where the author writes the true version of the events of Kassandra's adventures in Ancient Greece and includes moments and details that Abstergo left out or changed for their version. This pretty much means that poor Layla was actually being exposed to Abstergo's lies without even realising it while researching Kassandra in the game. This also makes the intro in the game a lot more sense with Dr Victoria and Layla reading up a book about Kassandra, then digging out her spear and then using an Animus to look into her memories which seems to have been given to them by Abstergo while Victoria was hesitant about using it and trusting the Animus while saying that the book they've read is more trusting. Defiantly goes in line with the phrase "Nothing is true, everything is permitted".

Awesome! Especially seeing as though AC3 and AC Unity are so far my 2 favourites in the franchise. I'll definitely be buying those. How are the in universe books by Christie Golden, the abstergo employee handbooks?

And thats why i have beef with odyssey lol great game but whats the point of freedom of choice if they released a novel making ur choices meaningless. Also why have alexios in the collectors edition from ubisoft store if Kass is canon. 😢😢😢 feel rip off by ubisoft and i been a loyal fan i per order every came from Revelations and up. Most gold steel.
