They say it’s “Not historically accurate” yet do everything in their power to convince you it’s true by editing wiki articles and every “gaming” outlet telling you he was a samurai irl which is still debatable due to the severe lack of hard historical facts about his life which is *exactly* why they picked him as the first real historical figure you play as in an assassin’s creed game because they can just make shit up. Changing Jack the Ripper to be an assassin is a shit defense for shadows because jacks change is *believable* someone who is known as a mass murder being an assassin isn’t far fetched just like how Leonardo fixing and making assassin weapons isn’t crazy because he was always an inventor. Despite being fiction they have always tried to make any historical changes make sense or believable and that’s the problem with yasuke and the more modern games as a whole. Going from magical artifacts which is a little believable to fighting literal gods was obviously a step too far from a lot of old assassins creed fans because of what I just described above. They fucked up so much cultural stuff despite saying they have experts on the team like harvesting rice in the spring even though it’s actually done in fall. You can’t defend assassins creed by saying it’s fiction when these are the same people who made a world so accurate it made a historian cry.
look at cod dude is it correct on history no they make more than half that stuff up just like assassin creed does i played ac since ac 2 and 3 and now mirage and i say i enjoyed them they were fun and more than half the stuff in those games were not true at all George Washington and his face did not look anywhere close to the real George Washington did Leonardo inventor yes but he never invented weapons hence why they made up for him fixing an assassin's hidden blade and also why in ac odyssey and the dessert game they had us fight gods because they were focusing on Greek mythology something that is never real but made up in stories and so forth which is something you people know little to nothing on
It isn't debatable. The Japanese have been saying since this broke that we in the west were given false info. There are, at most, three sentences mentioning Yasuke, but only one is actually confirmed. No mention of Samurai or even Bushi status. It's always been speculated he was a Samurai based on the fact they treat him as a folk hero, like Johnny Appleseed in the US. Real person but a ridiculously exaggerated story.

They're literally stating as FACT Yausuke was Samurai when no, the evidence not only shows this was NEVER the case, but it's come to light almost all we were told in the west was based on one English teacher who lives in Japan falsely editing articles AND giving a fake translation of a document to fit the fake narrative. AC might have always taken creative liberties, but this goes well beyond. Not only do we now know there is zero evidence Yasuke was a Samurai, we also know what evidence we did have is fake and utilized a fake translation. And this is but one problem Shadows now has. Borgia was real and a VERY corrupt pope. Shown as such but with creative liberty. DaVinci was an inventor (even had a design made for a tank so he DID dabble in weaponry). In AC he was as well, again given creative liberty. Washington? That's when they started REALLY stretching and many called it out. Stop shilling.
It’s not a petition exclusively in Japan anyone with a email can sign it to put in perspective, hogwarts legacy got 1,000,000 just for one of the many petitions, as for a samurai Samurai just means “Knight/Warrior” there was nothing who could be a samurai until Hideyoshi wrote a law that wouldn’t be passed till the 1600s before then anyone could be a samurai the other ranks of samurai didn’t come into play until Edo period Japan so back in sengoku Japanese (the time when the game took place there was only three people who would have the term samurai in their name one a normal foot soldier back in Sengoku Japan would be a samurai as well as a general, Retainer, Calvary or gun men there full title would be “Samurai [fallowed by their rank]” we also have like bum fu** when it comes to information on Yasuke, much like Fa Mulan and Robin Hood we know they existed in history but with Robin Hood atleast it’s based on more than one person, Yasuke is only mentions by name once in one historical record all the other records we have of him usually say something along the lines of “a man of monstrous physic, with skin as dark as the night” or “the Night skinned man” which doesn’t narrow it down hell even then saying “Dark man came to Nihon with the jesuits” narrows it down to about 100-300 slaves who came with the Jesuits Oda claiming that Yasuke is the first black man he has seen means nothing as he was a strategist locking himself in a palace for Days plotting his next attack perfectly so him not seeing a black man let alone any foreigner isn’t all that hard to believe, from what I remember there was only one Jesuit missionary Oda trusted he trusted no other foreigners till This Jesuit said “yo Oda this is my buddy [Italian name]and his butler… well we don’t actually know his name but he can read and write so that’s cool” and Oda being like “Mhm… send them in if you trust them and they fuck up I’ll have them killed” then when Oda say Yasuke he’s like “damn you dirty take a bath” then when they found out his skin was just natural Brown (or black) he was like “wooooooowwww, this man had skin as dark as Night , he needs a name as idk if history will like me calling him Black man so I’ll call him Yasuke” (which funny enough just means “the black one” which is funny because I know atleast three people with that name and they are all fair skinned Asian lads), anyways as for the LGBTQ shit people fell on that after being called racist as hating gay people is less frowned upon then hating black people, because anyone with half a brain sell would know that’s just how rpgs work should Ubisoft have worded it that way no probably not but in the end most RPG have the option to romance who ever the fuck you want sooooooo… if you make the gay choice sorry but that’s on you not the game
Most of this is just the big culture war push that always resurges. Then, yea there's always some big "issues" when it comes to black people being main characters and protagonists in games. There will certainly be real issues with the games since it's assassin's creed and those games all have issues, but fuck me, these people are just insufferable.
Japan are just annoying with this stuff Ubisoft is as well which is why I'm in the middle ground of all this confusing none sense and this feels like a court fight over who controls what within the game or company now so Japan needs to cool their minds think more clearly on what they are doing. as in their history is plentiful but look at a game called what ghost of Tsushima that is also based in Japan feudal Japan no wrong doing their because oh wait its because the company who made the game is from Japan itself so it does not matter at all so i see clearly on why Japan hates ac shadows and why they made the petition on the game but still they are fighting fire with fire which will not end nicely at all for either sides
@@VVabsa Does it even count as the Japanese getting into action though? A lot of the architecture is more Chinese than Japanese in nuance. A lot of written characters used in promotional materials is also in Chinese Mandarin instead of Japanese kanji... Doesn't seem like the writers and developers did their research and just said "Whatever, it's Asian. It's all the same lol".
