If a patient can´t hold the 25 seconds due to pain, what another option do we have?
@JohnGibbons
@JohnGibbons 5 лет назад
Take them to a position that doesn't cause pain, the patient can also activate the antagonist muscle as this will reduce pain within the agonist you are lengthening. Hope that helps, regards JG

Hllo sir ...in forward head posture , mostly people have or doing daily life acitiveits in forward head posture which increase tension in levator scapulai ..thats has to work more .. So i think streching is not good for this becoz already in streched position .. Plz clear my doubt
@JohnGibbons
@JohnGibbons 5 лет назад
Yes if you have a forward head posture and the typical upper crossed syndrome then the levator scapulae is working more eccentrically so stretching might make the situation worse. regards JG

Mr Gibbons, you treated the right side (from your perspective) instead of the left side, even though the left side is supposed to be tight? So if I feel tightness on my left side I have to lengthen/stretch the right side? Best Regards
@stuffofmylife
@stuffofmylife 8 месяцев назад
if lets say the lateral flexion to the left is restricted (meaning while trying to lower your left ear to your left shoulder you feel a tightness on the right) you have to treat/stretch the right side. Basically follow the video. If the lateral flexion to the right is restricted the other way around

Could issues causing drooping of the shoulder, even hip/ posture issues cause false results from this assessment though , shortening the range of movement and giving the illusion of tight or shortened muscles but in reality it is the muscles near there end range until the shoulder or posture is raised into the optimal position so they can function properly.
@JohnGibbons
@JohnGibbons 3 года назад
Thanks for the comments and yes of course what you have said is correct - the muscle tightness can simply be a symptom and the cause is another issue like the pelvis position etc, regards JG

What's the difference between PNF and MET
@JohnGibbons
@JohnGibbons 3 года назад
They are similar in one respect - METs have originated from the Osteopaths and PNF from the physiotherapists, PNF tends to be more of a contracture of the muscles - where METs tends to be around 20% effort of the muscle and more specific in my option, regards JG
