Katelyn probably appears shorter because of the fact that Evan built all the furniture to be at a height he finds it easy to work at, this is expounded by the difficulty Katelyn has filming and needing the step stool (because the bench is so high).

I'd say Katelyn appears shorter because Evan constructed everything they use to be his working height. I'm 5'2" but my younger sister is 5'8", so I literally have a visual measure of how tall Katelyn is...Evan truly is a a GIANT!!!

Real talk: my wife and I talk about "nerds" all the time and the definition, we personally believe that it's just a side effect of Passion, if you're super passionate about something you're super nerdy. I.e.: Tree-nerd, wood nerd, youtube nerd.....

Couldn't agree more. I cried in front of my supervisor a few months ago and I felt so unprofessional. It's nice to know I'm not the only one. I feel like I've gotten along even better with my supervisor now afterwards though.

Did that at my manufacturing job when I screwed up reading a print and was trying to convey I did not do it with malicious intent to my superior and cause I knew because I added scrap costs that people's bonus would be lower and they would be trying to find out who screwed up. People were very confused watching me trying not to cry and were even more weirded out cause it was a guy doing it (workplace was mainly women).

Tips for gigantor dudes from a gigantor family: Try Newbalance running shoes. They were the first pair of shoes that my husband found that didn't hurt his feet or his back, and actually managed to survive longer than six months (3 years and they are still in good condition). He has wide flat feet, which is why normal shoes would fall apart after a few months.

Evan and Katelyn Podcast try Altra running shoes! I’m 6’5” with wide feet and they have a “foot shaped” toe box and 0mm drop so you naturally land closer to the ball of your foot and your toes can splay out a little more which feels great and helps stop some of the shock going to your knees. I love them!

As an ADHD diagnosed individual, has Evan ever considered getting assessed for it? He has that kind of energy and he has a lot of the same problems. “Where was I going? What were we saying? I did eight things on my way to do the thing and have no idea what the thing is”

@yesiamyes2403 yup, and I find we have a tendency to clump. RU-vidrs I find entertaining generally speak with that fast frantic manner, constant gestures and movement that tends to kind of give us away. And their following for that same reason is also more neurodivergent than the statistical average. People who aren't adhd often end up overwhelmed by us, or thrown off by the tangents and ranting and interruptions, but among ourselves it all just flows like a weird ping-pong match. It's why sometime the best way to find adhd kids is to release one known diagnosed individual into a general population and see who clumps around them. 😉 It's why my husband and I understand one another so well.

I'm 5'6" - ex and my son are both 6'5". Most of my male friends are over 6'. Agree - you are average and they are so tall they are goofy because there isn't a lot of oxygen up there!

I really like Evan's "vague feelings to final thought" conversation idea. (29:55) I'll have to remember to use that. I always have a hard time with words and converting emotions into sentences and it makes me "flustrated" and cry like Katelyn mentioned. My husband is super patient with me though. Taking a few deep breaths and for some reason holding something cold seems to help.

I showed horses competitively at one point in my life and have spent years in the saddle. I feel qualified to say that I get that assumption but I'm not surprised why people didn't think Evan had horse experience. The few guys who work with horse in my experience are all really calm and stoic.

Honestly that is a really good way to work through communication they have (when Evan mentioned getting lost in the middle of sentences and ideas and etc) and it was very inspiring to me as I'm autistic and often get distracted by so many things going on that I lose where I was going xD

My partner and I have always joked of how much we are like you two, but listening to this podcast has just realized by how much... He is about 6'2" and I'm about 5'2.5" (so about same height difference). I'm the one more in "aesthetics" and design in comparison, but also the less patient one compared to him. He is the one who forgets something halfway through. I can get flustered enough to tears (or any emotion really but I haven't heard of anyone else similar to me in the aspect). We're both engineers, though while I (R&D) am the wild ideas he (process) is the one way more interested in the stats. I'm the eldest, and while he is the youngest of two, he is definitely the peacemaker to my iron fist. We both love travelling (though others seem to be surprised by that on both of our sides). My Korean accent comes in when talking to family (though my Chicagoan accent is much stronger every other time). I'm like Evan in that I can't wake up to save my life though he gets up quite easily. I'm the terrible conversationalist, though I'm like Evan in that it drains me real fast (though I'm good at faking it). It's a little bizarre how similar we are, though maybe that's just the sign of a healthy relationship balancing each other out. Here's to hoping one day we too have a garage of tools and fun things. And to one day meeting you two!

I have never related more to Katelyn than in this episode! The shy awkward conversations with co-workers and then getting frustrated and then start crying happened to me multiple times. Not that it's any of my business, but I did get diagnosed with a light form of social anxiety, but that's mostly because it was getting in the way with multiple facets of my life. So I'm not saying Katelyn has the same issue, but I do relate to her quite a lot on the social awkwardness stuff.
