Throwing this out there to help anyone trying to navigate this shit. - Using the ASTRO mixamp via USB only is a significant downgrade in audio quality and completely removes the effects of custom EQ presets (or the built in). If you use a HDMI audio extractor it will return the mixamp to its full and former glory. The audio extractor will also make it compatible with the PS5 (not sure if the PS5 is compatible at all via USB). There are many HDMI audio extractors out there but when I was trying to decide on one I came across too many reviews saying this one or that one didn't work right. I ended up going with the one made directly by ASTRO. It says it is for PS5 but it works for both the PS5 and Series X/S. You will need to get yourself an extra HDMI 2.0 or 2.1. The extra it comes with is standard HDMI which is pretty lame. You only really need 2.0 because you will be unable to do 120fps using this. I don't consider this a big deal seeing how there are very very few games actually in both 120fps and 4K. This adapter will allow for 60fps4K with HDR. I was so frustrated figuring this all out. It's nice having my Astro headset and Mixamp work like they always did again.

Made the sound work for me but my mic wont output anything

So if i buy the xbox version i will be able to use them on my ps5? Also can you get dual audio from a pc and ps5 at the same time using this mixamp?

i dont understand how so many people misunderstand this, if you enable the dolby icon on your mix amp the, the mix amp itself does the processing for spatial audio instead of software, you need to turn off ths processing for atmos to work properly, otherwise you will have two layers of spatial audio processing enabled and that is just bad

How do ya do with Party chat not working the headphones have amazing sound but my Xbox cannot find a microphone if anyone has this answer thank you these are too expensive to not have 100% use of it.

I am struggling, as a streamer I have the USB plugged into the Xbox, Dolby set up, but I plug the SPDIF cord into the pc so I can hear Alerts but plugging that cord in cuts all game audio. It's set to xbox I would like to hear both and it should be a possibility. On the previous xbox I had SPDIF plugged into console and USB plugged into pc. I got dual audio and I found the sound overall was better. Anyone else have this issue?

I did everything correct and couldn’t use mic so i had to plug into the aux on the amp and into my controller to use the mic. But the problem i have is i only hear in mic chats only on the left ear and not both. What can cause that?

The Xbox tells me I need to update it too so I followed your instructions and downloaded the command center but there is no automatic update. So I went back to the Xbox and it says I need an update 🤨

Yeah my Astro command center isn’t working, just says “please connect an Astro gaming device or switch the connected device to PC mode” even though I have it plugged in and on pc mode

Why would you have Dolby digital on when using atmos?

Do you hear any high pitch buzzing from either driver? My A50’s have this noise consistently. If the A40’s don’t I’m taking them back to exchange.

Your not supposed to use the dolby atmos on the mixamp and on the dolby app on the console. Its supposed to be one or the other or you are degrading the sound

Man i was hoping you was going to show us that we can use 1 A40TR on both consoles. Do you know if this is possible where i could buy the XBOX A40TR with Mix Amp and instead of having to buy a 2nd headset and Mix Amp for PS5 i could just buy the ps5 Mix Amp instead and then swap between mixamps using the same 1 headset?

I just bought this headset and there is no update available. I hooked it up to the xbox and there’s absolutely no sound coming out!! This is pathetic!! This is the second Astro headset in the last 5 days. If i can’t get this working by tomorrow I’ll return these just like the first ones and return to some turtle beaches!

Found issue. You have to download the Astro command on the pc. Once downloaded connect your Astro your computer and have the firmware updated once it’s updated you can follow the instructions he saying
