Additional fun fact: he also voiced Dr Tenma in the monster dub. The fact he has the range to go from being a gentle doctor obsessed with a blond boy to being an absolute menace is so absolutely impressive to me
The voice actor for Asura was spitting blood after certain sessions because of how dedicated he was to conveying the anger of the character. Massive props.
This game has one of the most unique art designs I've ever experienced. So much inspiration from Hinduism and Buddhist mythology and belief while blending in good Japanese Shonen design with a hint of sci-fi, without ever leaning too far into any aspect. If Asura's Wrath leaves no other legacy, then at the very least I wish more games at least emulate this games aesthetic. My favorite art design ever. (As a side note, I actually bought Naraka Bladepoint solely because it shares the same Eastern Hindi inspiration which just led to a similar art design. So I guess my wish is solely manifesting. One can dream...)
That's a great point, I'm glad someone said it. I love this art style and the feeling I get from seeing the sometimes beautiful, sometimes horrific characters. Black Myth Wukong is a game still in development, but every scene and character in the trailers so far capture that aesthetic. If you haven't seen it, check it out, I'm very excited for it.
Speaking of Naraka, there's a limited skin rn for the monk that has a similar body type to Asura that you can buy. There's also nunchucks skin from the game too
True. It's an amazing game. The gameplay was a bit repetitive at times, like having to fight that giant elephant gohma; That fight dragged on a bit. But other than that, it was a beautiful game.
Kinda reminds me of my uncle Jimbo constipate Cook who used to sell fried spicy baby alligator to kids in his underwear and a gas mask behind a private elementary school.
I love how in the beginning Charlie is asked “who wins between Kratos and Asura?” Charlie says Kratos but as he plays the game, he changes his mind when asked again lmao
@@genericscottishchannel1603 that’s still stupid that Kratos has “infinite strength” because there’s clearly a limit. He always struggles to lift things, so clearly there is a real limit
@@justsomenumpty He as also able to beat Buddha, the same person who gave Sun Wukong, the same man who held up the TWO infinite skies on each shoulder. With multiple layers of immortality a run for his money. Alongside actually showing his feats.

1:31 Asura's Wrath has one of the best dubs in any game I've ever played. Liam O' Brien had so much emotion even if 90% of his dialogue is just screaming. He even hospitalised himself during the scream 35:20 after the Berserker transformation. Which the Japanese version also uses for that form.
Not to mention: "There's always some fool... who wants to rule the world! Always forcing others to do what they cannot do for themselves! That's why I pray to noone, nor will I be prayed to!"
Eh, other moments like when Asura asks "who do you think you are!?" And Yashu answers "god", and then the rage meter instantly hits max is also pretty good.
The ending hit so hard. When Asura hung on his last word, I was expecting him to say something dumb... but it just hit me so hard. And to have Mithra do the same thing while I'm teetering on the verge of tears, and it pushed me over the edge. Asura's Wrath is a masterpiece.
@@TopTierTrashman From what I remember, he nearly destroyed his voice completely while voicing Asura and screaming. It was so harsh that he was basically forced to take a break to recover
Hi I'm not a bot Yeah, this game is just one of the best gaming _experiences,_ and any great experience feels great to share. Especially given the pure distilled hype.
Kinda reminds me of my uncle Jimbo constipate Cook who used to sell fried spicy baby alligator to kids in his underwear and a gas mask behind a private elementary school.
It's such a shame, the Chakravartin QTE scenes do lose a considerable amount of their impact without the fight inbetween them to show you just how strong he actually is.
Charlie at the beginning of the video: “Kratos would definitely win” Charlie in the middle of the video: “Asura would completely dominate Kratos, wouldn’t even be close” 😂 😂
He was joking, he was just making fun of the fact that Kratos died multiple times but just climbed out of Hades in a matter of minutes and lived on. I thought it was obvious that Charlie was being sarcastic.
@@omegacxv8344 hes making fun of people who somehow are actually trying to decide when both characters are absurdly OP so asking that question is literally pointless
Kinda reminds me of my uncle Jimbo constipate Cook who used to sell fried spicy baby alligator to kids in his underwear and a gas mask behind a private elementary school.
The influences of Hinduism and Buddhism are strong with this game, so much so that yes they ALL get reborn in the next life, at the end there is a series of images that show all the characters living in modern times, so you get an even happier ending knowing that Asura gets to live a happy life with his wife Durga and daughter Mithra like a real family, even uncle Yasha is there.
Holy shit! A forgotten treasure. I remember playing this in 2007-2008 and being shocked this game wasn’t huge. Punching out a man the size of Earth within the first 20 minutes really sells you on this game lol
My favorite part of asura's wrath is the half chapter where he fights the army of gohma, and armless with just the sword grit between his teeth, and in the middle of getting swarmed his delivery of "don't...make her....cry anymore" is just my absolute favorite in almost all of gaming I've ever experienced
Bought this game not too long ago while it was on sale. Honestly one of the funnest games I’ve ever played incredibly fun action packed not too long. 10/10

It's a shame this game never got finished. I watched someone play this years ago and it was a really good game and playthrough. (There was supposed to be 4 story DLC or something that concluded the story and only 2 got released and the last 2 never came out due to the game not making enough money)
Episodes 11.5 and 15.5 fucking amazing anime episodes. Asura takes on a whole content of those creatures and just obliterates them. I'm shaking while typing this. It's amazing.
@@TapiocaMCZ There were? I haven't seen the game in years, so I couldn't remember. I heard stories about the crunch time or something relating to the DLC's never being finished. Maybe it was something else then.
@@TheElectricRaichuThe game didn’t sell well enough is what happened. They had four dlc’s planned that would’ve lead to the next game The actual ending to Asura’s Wrath, would’ve been the second game. Asura chasing Chakravartin to get Mithra back. It’s sad to hear that’s what happened though. If this game came out today, it would’ve sold incredibly well
There was a period between 2007-2016 where so many epic single player games like this came out and delivered nothin but epic phenomenal cutscenes, characters and gameplay. (Metal Gear Rising, DMC, Bayonetta, Vanquish, Dante's Inferno, Lollipop Chainsaw, Darksiders, Prototype) We haven't seen much of that since Another game I hope gets more traction is "Bulletstorm" that game was fucking amazing
Kinda reminds me of my uncle Jimbo constipate Cook who used to sell fried spicy baby alligator to kids in his underwear and a gas mask behind a private elementary school.
Asura's Wrath is easily top 10 best story-focused games of all time. From a story-telling perspective, it's so good that I'd even argue it's better than a lot of the Telltale games and those were amazing.
Planet level is crazy asura killed the creator of their entire universe the one who created everything there thats like killing the living tribunal or the one above all
Can't stress enough how bad of a plan betraying Asura was.. Especially after watching him one punch KO Vlitra. I like the scene when the seven deity's are talking about Wyzen's death and generally freaking about Asura's return, when Deus comes in and shuts them down saying something like "Asura is no concern to me" You can tell the others are starting to think maybe Deus pride is turning into a big problem and obviously underestimating Asura is a terrible idea. I like to think Wyzen's last words were going to be something to the effect of "We shouldn't have cut Asura out of the deal!"
Kinda reminds me of my uncle Jimbo constipate Cook who used to sell fried spicy baby alligator to kids in his underwear and a gas mask behind a private elementary school.
"I will never forgive you....FOR MAKING MY DAUGHTER CRY!!!!" You have no soul if that moment doesnt make you tear up. Proud to say I still have my ps3 version.
I love how fast you see that asura is something completely different to the other former generals, 12000 years pass and they get new forms and power boosts and shit while asura sleeps the whole fucking time comes back and fucking destroys them with his bare hands then gets even more power and takes on god himself Also i can just feel the dbz inspiration every second i play this game
@@blondethunder8912 yes I have, Augus and yasha are the only ones it say might be able to pull off the things asks a is capable of if they were in his place, I'm not saying he is different in that he is actually a different species or something to the others I was just saying he is different in how he acts and reacts to the things happening around him, he is more emotionally driven, the other deities won't show remorse or guilt aside from yasha who never believed in their ways fully from the murder of the emperor until it was their turn to face death, whereas asura is constantly fueled by emotion as you said with not a single soul consumed save for when he harnesses the power of the mantra reactor but by then he was already more powerful than the other gods with that beserker form
I feel like if Asura's Wrath just had better gameplay it would have gone down as one of the classics of its generation. The story, music, art direction are all top tier as hell though.
Kinda reminds me of my uncle Jimbo constipate Cook who used to sell fried spicy baby alligator to kids in his underwear and a gas mask behind a private elementary school.
I just resign to accepting it being an interactive anime. It literally is anyway, with an opening credit and 'to be continued' cut off between every chapter making them feel like episodes, heck each chapter even is around 20 minutes-ish in length like a typical episode, and there's even a 'fan service episode' chapter. It feels a different kind of special from a typical game like that, instead being like a sort of 'interactive tv series'.
YES FINALLY! Asura's Wrath deserves SO much more exposure! Hope other big content creators will play and upload it too. My favorite game of all time. Still trying to get the second volume of the manga in japanese (Found the first volume)
@@cuakelpatodective2617 It is called Asuras Wrath Kai and only has 2 volumes that were only released in japanese and italian. Got the first volume in japanese and still trying to get the second one. Found it some time ago but got lost in delivery, so i had to get refunded sadly
Asura's Wrath is one of my all time favorite games, I keep coming back to it even if the gameplay is not the greatest the story and characters are great enough to keep me interested all the way through.
Kinda reminds me of my uncle Jimbo constipate Cook who used to sell fried spicy baby alligator to kids in his underwear and a gas mask behind a private elementary school.
Im happy to see Asura getting so much love. iirc the creator has said hes always up to creating another asuras wrath game but its the publisher that wants otherwise.
Asura's Wrath was an essential game to my childhood. I fell in love with it when I discovered the demo on the 360. This game deserves all the love it gets. The only downfall I see is the amount of QTE's and the true ending being locked behind DLC. Liam O' Brien nailed the dub while even injuring himself for the berzerker transformation. This game truly is a masterpiece.
Kinda reminds me of my uncle Jimbo constipate Cook who used to sell fried spicy baby alligator to kids in his underwear and a gas mask behind a private elementary school.
iirc you could do it without buying the dlc if you just finished the game with all A's and S', but you do have to buy the in-between chapters like 11.5 and whatnot
Asura..the man who went as far as killing a god just because he made his daughter cry. This game and it's story will be always a memory that I'll treasure.
@@OverlordKog Well, Chakravartin did call Asura the "perfect being", maybe he meant that more literally than we think, as in, more perfect (and thus, stronger) than even himself, something that he *NEEDED* to keep under control else it could risk his very existence (which Asura did).
I remember getting this a couple months after it launched and hadnt heard much about it, man was i impressed with the story and the cinematics. The game design is amazing
I remember picking up this game in a whim and being ENTRANCED until the very end. Under appreciated game. Everything about it is just fantastic. I literally shouted FINALLY SOMEONE GETS IT when this popped up on my feed.
I wish games were portrayed in a similar fashion, just the atmosphere, the level of design and structure and don’t even get me started on the phenomenon of the soundtrack. This game had me speechless, I’m really anticipating a remastered for this game or even just a sequel because the explosive fighting, the action, it was like watching an animated show and that augus fight was just perfection.
I'm glad he finally played this for the channel (ever since he mentioned liking Ninja Blade, I wanted to see him playing Asura's Wrath). I had no idea he had already played it in his own time, though.
Wow what a masterpiece we need a remastered version the visuals and the story is just beautiful I can't imagine how much better it'd look with not 360p
It really is. One of my favorite games and I just recently discovered it. I’ve been gaming my entire life too. This game flew under the radar and deserves way more then it received.
Damn, I remember seeing a video where final fight with the god was accompanied by metal gear rising music. Now I can see how much music impacts the overall experience, I watched final fight from this video and mgr music really brought it on the next level

It could be pretty awesome if they make the combat of the Game like Bayonetta or devil may cry but probably Capcom will not do nothing with the character because his last appareance was like evil Ryu skin

Asura's Wrath was the first time I ever saw someone as big as Galactus be destroyed finger first, and it is beautiful, it truly is a masterpiece and definitely needs to be remastered.
This game is a gem! Loved every second, the hype was so real in the QT events with the music and voice acting. Sitting on the edge of my seat the whole game
Incredible experience. Fantastic voice acting, great pacing, and a story that just felt good to go through from start to finish. I get that some might not like it for being a "playable movie", but I feel like that went a big way to making all those raw moments of punching the bad guy in the face even more hype.
This game, I never played it, but about 2 years ago I watched a full cutscene movie and came to appreciate it for being one of the most over the top experiences ever created.

The cinematography of this game is amazing. It felt like a huge cutscenes tho. And the actual gameplay when you have feet on the ground isn't that great. But goddamn this is the one time I sat back and enjoyed a movie/video game. The music is crazy

This was my favorite game of all time growing up and still has a special place in my heart. I played it like all the time growing up. It makes me pretty happy to see Charlie giving it recognition.
