The Asus Chromebook CX3402 (AKA the CX34 in some markets) is a high priced Chromebook with specs much higher than you'd find in a traditional standard Chromebook -- which is what makes it a 'plus' model in the first place.
But is it worth getting excited about the whole Google Chromebook Plus concept? I put it to the test...

i’ve always said Australia is impoverished for Chromebook price competitiveness and choice. We are an Afterthought and End of Run market.

Probably fair to an extent -- I guess the flip side of that argument is that it's kind of tricky to *find* Chromebooks, so they haven't had the same impact as in, say, the USA. Which is an entirely chicken/egg situation, of course.

I would have liked to see you try a linux distro on this. The "flexibility" of chromeOS for running various applications is kinda a mute point when you consider that chromeos is basically just a locked down linux distro that can be unlocked simply for checking a box to enable developer options. But that goes even further when you just remove chromeos from the equation. As a $1000 laptop that comes without a windows license I would assume you are paying for better hardware and saving money by not paying for that license. I bet with Ubuntu on it, it would run great and allow for more real applications

It’s a decent idea - and I’m 100% on board with the idea that hardware you buy is yours to do with as you wish - but it’s also a very open-ended never ending review in that case, because it could work differently with different distros etc - and that review could run for hours (and, I guess, I might get complaints from folks wanting more ChromeOS, less Ubuntu)

@@AlexKidman well personally I'd be happy only testing Ubuntu since from my own testing Ubuntu usually performs about the same as Windows for most tasks and more just about usability. You could just pop in a live usb and test for hardware compatibility like wifi and the camera. idk it's just a suggestion, you could do it as a separate video. I'm not saying there's something wrong with this one for not having this test, mostly just giving ideas for future content
