The first Vibe Chromebook wasn't great, but this time around, I think we're seeing what ASUS is really capable of when charged with making a cloud gaming Chromebook. The Vibe CX34 Flip is everything the original, rehashed Vibe is not and where I couldn't recommend the initial offering, I'm quite excited by this latest effort from ASUS. We spent some time with it at CES 2023 and I came away pretty impressed with what ASUS is doing in the gaming Chromebook space with this new attempt.

I LOVE the fact that it has a headphone jack, unlike the HP Dragonfly Pro Chromebook! I can't believe this is a thing I need to look out for now!

The whole gaming Chromebook thing coming out literally right after the discombobulated entity that is Google shuttered Stadia is just a slap in the face. I was a Stadia founder member, where was this effort to gain traction for Stadia across the board at Google? Now they want us to get on stuff like GeForce Now which sucks compared to Stadia. Google is a mess of an organization. This Chromebook is very nice, but I can't muster any interest for these gaming Chromebooks, not until Steam officially comes out for them at the minimum. Always be skeptical with Google products is the lesson I learned with Stadia, cuz they have the worst follow thru.

This one is pretty cool. 14” 16:10 high refresh is a very unique combo and only found on the few 14” gaming laptops like the G14. There are no budget gaming laptop that compete with this one in terms of size. So it’ll be really interesting to see how it stacks up in the market.

Love the 14" size and much brighter panel. Interesting to see a 10Gbps USB-A port (or is it called USB 3.2 Gen 2 x 1 now lol) over the standard 5Gbps, and is the HDMI 2.1 as well, like the Acer 516 GE? $700 a bit too much for the plastic build, but if this hits $500-$550, I'd look into picking one up! Nicely done Asus!

This would come out after I already bought the Asus gaming chromebook. I originally wanted the Acer or Lennovo gaming chromebooks but they aren't touchscreen. Which to me is ridiculous, there $600 dollas & they can't make em touchscreen Psh.

Very similar, albeit with a few of the components refreshed from the CX5400. The Costco deal for $499 last fall was a GREAT deal and super happy with that one. This is only better!

Are there really only certain kind of Chromebooks that can run any video gaming software including old Gameboys, emulators for video games originally for Nintendo and 3ds? Also including like call of duty, GTA, and Minecraft? Will they be under an account where you can play them with your existing data from other devices and download mods to certain games on a Chromebook? Also the emulator or account with multiplayer feature? Will they be able to work offline?

The $769 price definitely needs to drop significantly. Decent laptop but that's not reasonable.

@@gosoku2771 True as this is, have you used it or seen it in person? SOmething about the text on it looks off, like an early generation Samsung OLED panel. Doesn't look as sharp as their S8+, so IDK if it's just the panel, or stretching 1920x 1080p over 13.3" where their tablets are 2.5k resolution in a smaller size.

But The Lenovo only does 69 frames and has a better chance for stuff to break. I'm on the fence between this which will be more The bus and durable/rugged or duet 5. I have the duet 3 smaller size and the keyboard broke. Those keyboards are proven too. It's a really hard choice. I have a windows laptop. This device is more for portable and less worry rugged. Movies, web and cloud gaming. @@squoblat

Greetings from India! Pl do an episode on a Chromebook for someone who uses Windows & Linux. Some Chromebooks can now run Linux on their own and Windows for some legacy applications, via Parallels software. Obviously, will need higher SSD and a higher processor as memory, as it will be continuously running Linux & Windows under hypervisors & just running browser usage under chrome. No gaming required.

Are we allowed to call it just the ASUS Chromebook Vibe Flip because CX34 means nothing to me? The C could be for Chromebook and the X could be X-Treme. And 34, the age the item is targeted for, maybe?

1080p, 144hz, for GeForce Now?... If you want 144hz from GFN you need to go to the Ultimate Tier which enables up to 4K. Very silly to only include a 1080p screen. Should be 1440p minimum.

$700 for an all plastic Chromebook?! They're outta their minds.
@Eeveewashere
@Eeveewashere Год назад
Not that I disagree.You've heard of the Nintendo tax, well, chromebooks suffer from the i5 tax. Unless Asus or HP can put a wimpy pentium Gold CPU in it then we must be punished with a higher price. Or maybe, there's an i5 chip shortage and I'm fully crazy.

I think I'm in the minority, but I actually prefer a nice high density plastic laptop. My last laptop was all metal, and it looked like crap after a year from fine scratches and the chamfered edges getting dinged, plus it was a fingerprint magnet.

$700. to play cloud games. Lol. Chrome OS just got Steam! Why not make real gaming Chromebooks?

Its Plastic? NOPE! I like the Aluminum. Can't go back to Plastic. 8 gigs of RAM? That's junk... The new normal is 16GB for a LONG time. Even opening up a few tabs take up almost all your ram today. Guess I will have to get a PC laptop and use that with chrome os

What’s the target audience here? Gamers won’t be looking at a chrome book in the first place, much less one that costs the same price as a laptop with better build quality and a physical gpu in it. Just can’t understand who would be buying that
