IIRC you can load up bios ver. 1003 on this board and BCLK OC this i7 of yours. You can check debauer's video for more context / info if you're interested / haven't heard of it
I got this this weekend in the mail, still haven't built in it. For all of the people that are looking for info on that board - it supports both LGA1200 and LGA1700 brackets, so you do not need any new/special brackets for an AIO for example. Some people say that it is expensive and one should get a Z690 board, but I like it and it really will fit my white build with the O11 dynamic. Also, it would be nice if you could connect it to power and display the RGB of the mobo when doing such lookovers.
How positive are you that it’ll work with LGA1200 screws? I have the Corsair H150i Elite Capellix. Been waiting on the LGA1700 retro fit kit from Corsair but they’re taking for ever.
i bought this motherboard DDR5 version as well. However, it is a totally trash that only has 1 x usb header to connect AIO/ARGB fans... thus i ended up need to buy additional NZXT internal usb hub to connect all of them. waste of money.
@8:27 Nick, for WIFI, why not show where you can replace the M.2 key E WIFI card with a newer WIFI 6 or 6E AX200/AX210? A lot of people don't realize that they can actually swap out the module for a newer one. Possibly giving them a bit more life out of their existing mobo if they still have a viable upgrade path via their CPU on that socket, etc. Probably out of the realm of your content scope, but I've done this for friends and have saved them $100's when updating their systems by not getting a whole new motherboard when they don't really need one (it also saves them a PCI slot). Not always the case, but it can work for some. Heck, you can even go with a lower end chipset, like a B450 or B550 that still has WIFI AC, upgrade the M.2 Key E to AX and save them some bucks, instead of a more expensive board with basically the same features. Just a thought. Not too many know that you can do that. Love the channel. As always, cheers!
Board is poop. First one came with bent pins on the usb 3.2 gen socket Second was okay and got it to start and everything, lan connection didn’t work. Found out it’s a common issue with these boards that the lan connection won’t work even if you you install all the drivers and update every thing and you’re suppose to update the bios first before running anything too or you’ll run into a ton of issues even though plenty of people update the bios later. Regardless of updating the bios i still had a ton of issues with drivers not wanting to install or programs in general and was super slow. Was thinking of spending a extra $100 to get the z690 to keep the white aesthetics bit apparently these issues are common with all of the rog series boards and even found a post of someone solving the same issue by using a lan driver of a prime series b450? board on his rog strix b450 and fixed his issue with not being able to connect. Me on the other hand didn’t want to risk trying that for this board. Just gave up on it and send it back and just staying away from asus. Sucks i really liked the aesthetic of this board. Like the saying goes, fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me. I’m not gonna bother with a 3rd time.
definitely overdue for a build and yes yes yes to more builds !!! budget or not ! air cooled or liquid cooled i dont care just need more builds ! lol ! thanks for the excellent work as always, appreciate you both and Bindi !
True. Im looking for a nice RoG ddr4 board but this seems to be the only one. I don't understand why all the z690"s are ddr5 only.. couldn't get one for my 12700kf
@@ensiel4738 maybe try going with the z690 a gaming wifi d4 if you are ok with it being a white motherboard it cost around 415 dollar in my country kinda expensive but it will get the job done.
@@ensiel4738 future proofing, you can stick ddr4 ram in ddr5, you just won't get the benefit. so it'll still read it as ddr4 ram, just like when ddr4 was new, you could put ddr3 ram in that and it would run as usual. once you get ddr5 ram, then it'll run as ddr5. motherboards are backwards compatible, so you can use your existing ram in the ddr5 slot, once you get ddr5 then it'll read it as it such. right now there's not a whole lot of ddr5 out there since it's new, and it's always expensive in the beginning, but they still make motherboards that are ddr4 only.
should work if you use the 3 pin argb gen 2 headers. However those rgb/argb connectors are horrible and it could well not be making contact correctly or something. Its not some kind of imcompatibility atleast. So some connector is not sitting well or something is actually broken.
@@Daisudori I got it to work! I unplugged the daisychain since I had the "pump" daisychained to the other 3 fans. Then I connected them separately and its working flawlessly now.
Hi! I have the same board! I installed 2 M.2 same brand and same storage… i wanted to isntall the OS on the top 1 near the CPU. Is there anyway i can identify which is which. Is drive 0 the one close to the CPU?
I want to buy this but I'm confused with the ram compatibility. Will any ddr4 ram work, or do I need to buy ram that is supported by the board? Heeelp😢
Hello! Please anyone know that the type-c near 3.5mm on I/O shield, can it audio out or not? My Creative T60 also have type-c, just want to know it work or not if connect them, thank you.
How the extra holes for cpu cooler? Today I'll build it with Corsair H100i e c aio and using LGA 1200 screws and try my luck until my LGA 1700 retrofit kit came next week
Yes by a good margin... I used a TUF mATX B660 and regret buying it. There isn't much room to upgrade or customize in terms of nvme.. you gotta pull out the entire system just to put one ssd in that.
@@francomora909 I got the ryzen combo but I recmonned you to go with b660 rog strix and 12700k so you can upgrade in future, they say the 13600k would preform better than the 5950x
I've been into computers long enough to remember when software that came on CD-ROM at software stores (what's that?) was kept on a top shelf for everybody to ooh and ahh at, but never touch unless you were buying it. Now, CD-ROMs are worthy of being coasters for cups of coffee. LOL
Over in my country actually. This goes for 230 and something like Gb z690 gaming x / msi z690 pro is going on 190....this asus board is completely uninteresting at those prices.
Hey, great vídeo! I wanted to ask what a good ryzen proces would be for this pc. In My country ryzen is easier to find than Intel but if anyone has good recomendations for this mother i would really apreciate ir!
For Ryzen must be a Strix "B550" A-Gaming but doesn't have WiFi (I think)... Maybe the best option is Aorus B550 Elite AX V2. Build with a Ryzen 5 5600X and a RTX 3060Ti and it's fine to play 1440p. Also buy a 1440p 144hz monitor with G-Sync. At least 2x8 3200mhz RAM 1TB SSD 2TB HDD AIO 240 PSU 850W (for future upgrade)
@@tvieira90 Only G-Sync if you plan to use a Nvidia G.P.U. Their 3080Ti and above G.P.U's are well over priced and are not worth it. If you currently want a top G.P.U for a much better price per performance level then AMD 6900XT or the beast 6950XT are much better value so you will need a Free-sync monitor.
Did you do your build? How it works mate? will your 12900k boosting right? any thermal throttling or issues from VRM side? i'am planning to pair that MoBo with 12700k.
@@unheard5982 everything works perfect. Have 3090ti ftw3 ultra and 128gig of ddr4. I used it for programming and mining during sleep hours. No problem so far since build.
