Something that can take abuse like Mike Tyson but is light as a feather and cheap to buy and maintain as a chicken.

My AM.130, had it light build spec from Atherton to suit my riding which is Forest single track and the occasional Bike Park foray. Hence Fox Factory 34 Kashima fork, Light Stans Mk4 Crest wheel set with lightxc/trail tyres, a Fox Factory DP shock and Hope Tech4 brakes. Amazing ride and confidence inspiring bike...love it.

The bike most of us would benefit the most. Way more fun than those sluggish enduro rigs unless you’re riding very chunky terrain at speed. The harsh truth is that most people are way overbiked for the terrain and speeds at which they are riding.

I love what they are trying to do but that shock system looks way to complex for me and a sag sucker for us heavyer ryders. Would never happen but if they made a single pivtiot bike or a design with the shock less under mass this would be fantastic. Very impressive how it rides down those hills. Ill still keep pedalling my 2016 five I think though!

How come when Robot Bike Co made this bike, the reviews spewed out my media was mixed. Now Atherton has slapped their name on it - its the best thing to grace mountain biking. The idea is not new or innovative. Its been around for ages. Baffles me honestly

Marketing and further development by bike riders.

Manufacturing process isn't everything that makes a good bike. That's why. As he says above: rider input and development. (Rider input by some of the best in world that is, - I'm not a Atherton fanboy, but they sure have the titles to back it up)
@David-fk3cx
@David-fk3cx 6 месяцев назад
@@jensthimmvalsted1000 Please correct me if i am wrong; the bike has not changed/been developed. It has been re-branded but not re-developed. Go look at a review from an 130 robot to an A.M 130. They have just rebranded it and scaled it up to a 200m bike. They have just brought a niche product to the mainstream.

@@joenickless2668 So the DW6 link is substantially different ? There are some tweaks to it that I can see. Things like the cable routing that I can see are different in the lugs. It’s still the same Reinshaw process used by Robot. The fabric of the bike is the same with some tweaks. To call it substantially not correct. The word you are looking for is refined. I think a good way for this to be settled is that I propose a questions for you; Let’s say Atherton and Robot got into an IP dispute; Robot holding the patent for bike. Would Atheron bikes concede on the notion of Novelty (an invention must be substantially different from anything else that is public knowledge.) I think we both know the answer here

A bike with a 65.5 head angle is twitchy now? also its pretty heavy for a carbon bike, apparently its about 15kg, and I assume that's without pedals too, which would mean it weighs almost 15 and a half kg, which is how much my 2019 norco fluid fs1 weighed stock, and that's a full alloy bike that cost about one third of the price.

In my opinion the rambling about the mechanical drivetrain is questionable. The mechanical drivetrain is more reliable and moreover better for the environment because it doesn’t require a battery. I’m getting the point with the fork and the brakes but as a costumer the frame would be way more important.

I would consider this bike for sure, but either not at this price point or not with this buildkit. Being boutique with an arguably exceptional platform does not justify everything, especially in this economy.

@@bikeradar thanks for the update, still missing the "decent enough" value mark for me to consider despite owning pro tier specialized and Turk Yetis :)

So, in this climate with the bike industry on its knees, they're trying to say a £7k bike is the standard. 😂 Journo's must be worried about losing advertising revenue. On yer bike...
@bikeradar
@bikeradar 6 месяцев назад
We don't receive any advertising revenue for our reviews, our thoughts are our own and no one else's. We were impressed with the performance of the bike, but are completely aware this is an expensive bike, as noted in the written review and the video - www.bikeradar.com/reviews/bikes/mountain-bikes/full-suspension-mountain-bikes/atherton-am-130-1-review We're not saying, this is the standard of bike everyone needs, you must go and buy one, your current bike is obsolete. In raw performance terms, Luke believes this is one of the best trail bikes he's ridden. BUT at the same time, they are so many other great bikes out there, for a whole lot less cash and your own bike still rocks and you should enjoy it and love it 🤘
@TheAegisClaw
@TheAegisClaw 6 месяцев назад
@@bikeradar no, but how long after a glowing review until Atherton Bikes take out a big ad space? And keep sending you it's bikes to test. Come on, we all know how the game works. You even called it a "benchmark" in the title. The long response is a bit the lady doth protest too much.
@bikeradar
@bikeradar 6 месяцев назад
@@TheAegisClaw As said, any advertising revenue generated is completely separate from our reviews and we pride ourselves on that. Not everything we cover is glowing praise, check out our TRP EVO12 review - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-6VYv6PDDfas.html And if every bike brand only ever sent us (or other media outlets) one bike to test, there wouldn't be much content or useful information for anyone to read/watch.

The overall bike industry is hurting, but the high end bikes are not really hurting. The high end still selling cause wealthier folks aren't as economically impacted. Think of Cadillac in the 70's. Also consider that Atherton frames are made in the UK while most others higher end bike frames are made in China the price isn't bad at all. Those made in China frames are the ones that are overpriced and should be much less.
