In this video, it's new bike day for me, but could this be the ONLY bike I'll ever need?

The AM.170M is one very serious bike. Right from the off on the trail, it instantly made me feel reassuringly confident straight away, like I’ve been riding for years. Its incredible stability really opens up line choices that I wouldn’t have previously considered, it is so reassuring, precise and confident on any level of trail and allows me to push my limits in ways I wasn’t expecting. I was able to manoeuvre around the bike with incredible ease, largely due to the short seat tube and low stand over height, this allows for a big dropper post to be fitted which gets the saddle out of the way for full manoeuvrability and coupled with it’s utter silent smoothness, it gives the bike an invisible feel, I have to keep checking it’s actually still there!
The Continental Kryptotal tyres were gripping like hot toffee to a blanket, with a combination of the incredible tyre compounds and the mind blowing efficiency of the DW6 suspension kinematics keeping the tyres glued to the trail.
The speed of this bike is mind blowing and the Hayes Dominion brakes with the Galfer rotors/pads upgrade had such huge power and incredible levels of control that I’ve never felt before. With the combination of the braking power, tyre grip, geometry and suspension, I could not only comfortably leave the braking till the last minute but confidently know that the bike had my back 100%.

Forks: Rockshox ZEB ultimate 180mm
SHOCK: Rockshox Super deluxe ultimate Coil 170mm (Coil - 500lbs)
Wheels: Stans Flow EX3 + Stans M pulse hubs.
Tyres: Continental Kryptotal - rear DH soft 2.4 + front DH supersoft 2.4.
Brakes: Hayes dominion + Galfer Shark rotors (223 & 203) + pads upgrade.

I choose raw lug on my A130. Love my Atherton!. Took 8 months to get mine. Ordered it before Thanks Giving received it end of June, early July here in California. The A130 feels like it has more travel than it does. Compared to my Knolly Fugitive138 and Priviteer141, the A130 feels like it has more travel and plusher all while pedals better. Compared to my Priviteer161, than the A130 feels like less travel, but I do have coil front & rear on the 161.

Lovely bike, inspired choice of duel finished lugs. Great video, enjoyable viewing, gives the real flavour to picking up the bike and subsequent first rides... My riding on my own AM130 is very different to your own bike park type riding. I'm into our local forestry type xc and trail riding. However, our bike experiences are very similar, confidence inspiring, encouraging one to pushing your skills and yet looks after me when I choose the wrong line. I'll never be a riding 'warrior' but the more technical sections or the faster I ride the more the bike comes alive and shows it's heritage, I will never do it Athy riding justice but boy it's such a joy to ride & own...... Perhaps add the new alloy model or an AM150 in the future, be great fun in the light of owning my 130 deciding on spec.....that way it will mean I will get to ride an Atherton without having to race my wife Sally to try and stop her from pinching it and leaving me to ride our Kona hardtail!

Hi Mark. Great to hear that you’re on the waiting list for your Athy✊. Sorry to hear that you haven’t had any updates 😔. I had x5 updates of various stages of the build and from order date to completion, my bike took 4 months. As these bikes are hand built custom pieces of artwork, each machine will have its own lead time due to the factory work load, material availability, component availability and various other factors + Atherton bikes are a very small company with a very small team, however, I’d get in touch with them asap, call and ask for Alex, as she is so knowledgeable and incredibly helpful. Good luck Mark and I really hope your rig is complete and in your possession soon 🤜🤛

Curious where u landed on rebound? Ive found using a faster setup is appreciated with this bike (DW6), actually will use less travel so almost surely packing down. Lmk ur thoughts

Definitely running faster in the forks and slower on the coil which makes a balanced setup. The rig has really come alive and seems very composed. Happy so far but still tweaking on different trails. Cheers for watching 🤜🤛

You can check out your size here: www.athertonbikes.com/media/athertons/bikes/AthertonBikesSizingGuide.pdf and then input into the size calculator here: www.athertonbikes.com/am-170-3.html but if you’re able to get down to the Athy factory tour and demo a bike you’ll be able get fitted up more accurately, my actual bike is slightly different from the one suggested by the fit calculator.

No, you didn’t miss it, I chose not to say. The AM.170M3 starts at £6,950.00 however, I upgraded the spec slightly which resulted in a slight increase which is what suited my riding style and my budget. I’d highly recommend getting down to a factory open day, talk to the amazing Athy crew and you’ll be blown away with the level of detail, quality and depth they go into to creating the perfect machine for you. 16 hours to print out the lugs on very expensive bit of kit is not a very good business model...

Hand built perfection so 16hrs is a small price to pay for a bike that’s been designed and hand built for a specific task and that’s been tested to destruction AND that’s guaranteed for life for the original owner including bike parks! Nuff said! (Thanks for watching btw🤜🤛)
