I have poached hundreds of fish under that bridge, the most we had in one night was 14 the biggest was 24 lb the hotels buys them and don’t ask any questions. I have retired now, and only use a rod.

Hi Paul. Love your videos. Some amazing fish. I use same tactics in ireland. Sorry to reiterate but a cheap clip on microphone would make all the difference. Can't hear a word....difference between a good video and an amazing video

if i were you i wouldnt use a fly rod with shrimp because the fly rod doesnt have the power to set the big hook it may be good fun and sport but with a stiff spinning rod you would land more fish , when fly fishing you give the fish a foot of line before lifting into him he hooks himself , when shrimping you need to set the hook straight away, great video aswell really enjoyed it.

Hi, I am thinking of getting into Salmon/Trout fishing, but I am confused by the byelaw "You must not use any form of lead weight attached to a fishing line other than those of 0.06 grams, or less (commonly called dust shot No. 8), or of more than 28.35 grams (heavier than 1 oz). 'Lead weight' does not include lead incorporated into a weighted line, swim-feeder or fishing fly or lure. These are regional byelaws." Can you elaborate on this? Because you are using 4 SSG but Im sure by the ruling above the maximum weight you could use would be a No. 8 shot. Im not questioning your method, I just need some help understanding the byelaw. Cheers Ben

+Ben Blowers Hi Ben which region are you fishing in?

+Paul Greenacre Hi Paul. I'm planning on fishing in the southern region (although not until the season for trout and salmon reopens). On the river Itchen near Winchester. Is the weight byelaw only relevant for the Thames region?

+Ben Blowers Thames and southwest areas seem to have the same weight byelaws. see www.gethooked.co.uk/ea_byelaws. you may have to do a web search to see if the same rules apply to the itchen and test - as these are issued by the EA , its most likely to be the case. Hope that helps a bit.

+Paul Greenacre OK so does that mean the most weight I can use is a no 8 shot? That's not gonna do much!!
