Just finished watching. One of the best and most consistently active Atmos tracks ive ever heard, and I have a big collection of 4k. It was a great experience. Quite good visually as well. Must have disc for 4k collectors or action movie enthusiasts.

There is a very significant difference on the opening bass. Of course, the subs must be capable of hitting that low to begin with. The DTS HD track is house shaking and you won’t hear and feel any of that effect on this 4k version.

Great sci fi story. Interesting how he used each day to slowly piece together a solution. Picture quality blew me away and the atmos sound was killer. Yes, action, scifi, groundhog day all in one .

Wow, solid "A" for picture quality, eh? You're far too generous. =) It was definitely soft in many scenes and not 4K crispy, and the color palette wasn't impressive. I would have given it a B+. Also, I have the same AVR as you and you absolutely need to purchase the Auro 3D upgrade from Denon. Wowzers! Auro provides way, way more sound effects to the height speakers. I actually turned off all my bed layer speakers (subs included) and just left my 4 height speakers on so I can see just how much sound is coming out of those speakers. I watched the end scene in Atmos twice, and then in Auro twice as well. Let me tell you, it was no contest. Auro had way more going on. Sometimes the height speakers would just be silent in Atmos, or just a few notes of the score. But Auro almost always had effects actively engaged. Anyway, I just wanted to share my experience with you and I know for sure you would absolutely prefer movies upmixed with Auro 3D!

I have the 2K, 4K and the 3D versions. I love this movie and prefer the 3D.

That difference of bass in the opening title will save a few cheaper subwoofers!

Thanks for the review I have this on DVD but Iam diffently want to pick this up on 4k and Adam I appreciate your channel because I love a guy that is so passionate about physical media because iam a movie collector aswhile

Thank you for the excellent review. I agree with your comments on Black Crush. In particular, in the section of the movie spanning between approx 1 hr 30 minutes and 1 hr 42 minutes, the Black Crush is noticeable. Obviously, Warner Brothers did not finish the job here. Although I definitely prefer the 4K UHD disk version of the movie overall, the application of HDR10 underwhelms and, quite honestly, underperforms during this section of the movie. Frustratingly, the 4K UHD disk does not contain Dolby Vision (for that, you have to redeem the Digital Movie Code at VUDU, where Dolby Atmos is also included). As you might expect, the Dolby Vision video quality streaming from VUDU is superior to the 2014 Blu-Ray & the HDR10 UHD disk, including at the 12-minute time segment mentioned above. Which begs the question of why Warner Brothers did not just place Dolby Vision on the 4K UHD disk to begin with!

I don't equate this movie to "Ground Hog Day." It is more along the lines of a P.C. Game. Die and restart. Die and restart. P.C. Game.

Agreed. This is a demo worthy audio mix. Better than Fury. I still give Passengers and Saban’s Power Rangers the nod for demo worthy picture. This is also the best sci-fi action thriller ever. I can’t believe it wasn’t as well received at the box office as it deserved.

Hm, I'm not sure I would necessarily call this a "Groundhog Day clone" though, since it was based on a Japanese novel called "All You Need is Kill". However, I guess it's possible that maybe the author of the book was inspired by Groundhog Day lol

Lfe aside, is the atmos track for edge of tomorrow mixed the same between digital and physical?

ground hog day films are not what i like however there is a movie called repeaters which I feel makes the genre a lot more interesting

I have the Blu-ray 3-D version. Wish they have a 4K-3D😢😢😢

I bought the steelbook myself & watched it awesome movie better than the blu ray.

Your camera angle needs to be higher.

My worst purchase in years and years... The Pirates of the Caribbean 5 movie 4K set. The HDR is hideous and the "Atmos" soundtrack is more like straight stereo. l There is NO overhead sound, very little surround action and no noise at all in the sub channel. An absolute waste of my AU $75 and I am now off to the shop to get a refund. I will never buy a Disney disc ever again.

Overrated movie ,great atmos ,video quality the same as digital stream. It's a pass for me.
