I did this first but I ended up way too far from the wheel so I placed the plate at the nearest place so the DD weight is directly on the plastic bracket and the wheel is at a perfect range from my arms. The issue is that the front hole is blocked by a small amount of plastic so I slightly drilled it, in that way I'm able to use the 3rd screw. You can also use some washer for the other screw so it will screw perfectly on the DD. Sorry for my english!
@YIAZ-M thank you for sharing what worked for you! I didn't think of that and I think what you did is a great solution for getting around that plastic. I am sure that many people that read this will benefit from your idea!
anyway for you to provide pics on maybe an instagram?? i’m having such trouble, my arms are also way to far away cause it’s sitting the farthest back on the plate and i tried moving it up yesterday and just using the 2 front screw holes but the plastic adjuster under the plate hits the rail 😅
Thank you dude. Was wondering if the bolts that came with the play seat challenge would fit in my GT DD Pro that I have ordered earlier this week. The wheel that comes with it looks like a toy so I opted for the McLaren GT3 wheel. You pretty much answered all my questions with this video. Cheers bud.
Hi mate I have the 8nm as well but I use an Omega racing wheel stand, you just have to put in the office chair and you are set. It's super rigid and works very well. However that thing is freaking heavy and super annoying to move around. I was wondering how it is with the playseat challenge, is it light? What about stability, do you have a lot of staking?
@Moneyversac the 8 Nm base is fairly heavy, but it doesn't add a lot of weight to the PSC. I can still fold up the PSC with the base and pedals attached and move it fairly easily. There is a small amount of shaking, but it's not as bad as some other channels make it out to be. I barely notice any flex or shaking unless the wheel clips hard. But if you have the FFB setup properly, you shouldn't experience a ton of clipping. I hope this helps!
Thanks for the quick and easy video. Probably saved me more than 2 hours of dinking around assembling and dissembling and reassembling again and again.
Great detailed video! Definitely saving it for later, I just ordered a GT DD Pro with the 2.5 Formula wheel. I'll be mounting it on my desk for now, since it's an office desk and pretty sturdy it should be okay, but I do want to try a playseat or cockpit in the future (as soon as I financially recover from this haha) I am a bit worried about leg room though, I'm 1.98m (6'4 or 6'5 i think?) so idk if i'd have enough room for my knees lol Also how are the vibrations/flexing, when using the wheel on the playseat with higher FFB? would shake too much, like to a point where it'd interfere with the driving? Or should I be looking for another playseat/cockpit?
@falcao thank you! There is little flex with the CSL DD, but nothing that will break your focus. If anything, it kinda gives you a bit more immersion since the flex tends to resemble the whatever bouncing the car is doing in the sim at that time. I will be doing a video covering this soon. My goal is put it out before the end of July. In terms of your height, the Playseat Challenge is adjustable and I think your height may be the upper limit for what it can accommodate. I am 6 ft even (roughly 1.82 meters) and my knees have very little clearance. You should check out a video I did last year reviewing the Playseat Challenge. I actually talk about the adjustability in that one. The thumbnails has me looking at the Playseat Challenge with the caption, "This Is Still A Thing?!?!". Let me know you think. I hope this helps!
Hey man just wanted to say a huge thank you for this video, really easy to understand instructions! I've ordered a GT DD Pro and have the Playseat Challenge so glad I stumbled on your video because I wouldn't have known about reversing the plate! Saves me a headache for when it eventually arrives :-) cheers!
Thank you so much for this. Helped no end getting my GT DD Pro attached to my Challenge last night. Great presentation, so clear and relaxed... A+ RU-vidring!
Hello guys, Excellent video, very explanatory, very easy to understand, I'm going to do the same in my Playseat Challenge with Base Gt dd pro... thank you.
Great video! I ended up putting some thick washers on the underside of the plate for the 2 screws that are too long, and it allowed me to tighten them without worrying about hitting the wheel base.
I may have to do the same thing to mount the CSL DD to my GT Omega Classic, so thanks for getting the idea of how to solve the eventuality of screws being too long, and actually also to look out for that possibility, preloaded in my noggin! 😁👍
I'm waiting for my CSL DD to be delivered any moment now and this video made me feel a little less concerned about how difficult it might end up being to mount it to my GT Omega Classic cockpit. Assuming the predrilled holes on the Playseat Challenge are aimed at a similar range of entry level wheel bases that the GT Omega Classic is, I'm now confident that I shouldn't have to drill holes into the top plate of my wheel stand, although I'm wondering if I'll have to come up with a solution to allow me to put it at more of an angle to be able to get the angle of the steering wheel to a comfortable range. Great video for my purposes. Thanks! I'll go ahead and sub your channel to see what else you get up to.
@ClusterFugue thank you for subscribing! I do not know much about the GT Omega Classic, but from what I see from some pictures, the mounting plates looks to have predrilled holes in the proper locations for the CSL DD. If the older Clubsport wheels can fit on the GT Omega Classic, then the CSL DD will because it uses the same spacing for the T-Nuts. I hope this helps further and thank you again for tuning in and subscribing!

@@firegaming5569 - It does not entirely eliminate deck flex, but we believe it helps. It was also designed so that the wheel is not sitting too far from the driver with the mounting plate in the farthest position. As you know, this would force you to a seating angle you may not be comfortable with. Please contact us via our website/email for more information and shipping. That way, we are now crowding JC's comments off-topic. Thank you
I'm about to receive this weekend my Fanatec DD pro 8Nm and I have the same playseat which I used to play with my G29. I'm going to try this at home and see how it works :) thank you bro!
Thanks for the update. I have a Playseat Challenge as well and have been upgrading my Logitech G920 setup piece by piece to Fanatec and I am eager to see your setup once complete. I recently purchased the MCLAREN GT3 wheel, the 3 pedal set non load cell version because I want to see how the brake sponge feels during hard braking to see if I can live with it until a aftermarket lower cost upgrade comes out. I also brought the upgraded metal pedal plates and the steering wheel quick connect. Hopefully soon, I can buy the CSL DD (Xbox Version) next when my funds permit. I am looking to strength up the Playseat some how to handle the added stress of the motor and brake force but that's another dilemma for the future since other cockpits I looked at cost more than the Fanatec setup.
@M Anderson thank you! I am eager to share my most recent setup! I am wiring on Antje video on how to attach the V3 pedal set to the PS Challenge, but that will take a bit longer to vette the process. The McLaren GT3 wheel is a very solid wheel and does nearly everything that you need in most Sims. I will be doing a video on this in the near future as well. I think piecing the rig together is a very effective way to understand exactly what upgrades are must haves and how they can compliment/evolve your driving style. I am interested in seeing how your setup develops! Keep me posted with your latest progress.
Super insightful video and very informative. One additional question, do you recall the size of the bolts you used to mount the DD to the base? I purchased my Playseat nearly 3 years ago, and mistakenly threw out the bolts that came with it a long while ago.
I believe the bolts were m6, but can't remember the exact length. I would not recommend getting anything longer than 18 mm, but I am fairly certain that they are m6 bolts.
This saved my butt and earned a sub. Thank you for posting this! I use a Next Level Racing GTLite Pro myself, and for that one I had to mount the plate as far back as possible (that is, use the top 2 screw holes) as the mounting places for the silver brackets collided with the bar underneath. Still, just seeing how you installed it made it super easy for me to securely install as well :D
Great informative video, thank you. I currently have a playseat with a G920 wheel and pedals but was apprehensive about the CSL DD and how much it would be flex etc
@jameshapgood1 You're welcome! There is some flex, but it is not completely terrible. I raced with this setup for about 8 months and was very satisfied with the overall results. Thank you for watching!
Awesome presentation and tutorial, JC! I'm on the edge of switching from a T300 to a CSL DD on my playseat for some time now, good to see the DD can be mounted quite easily and firmly. One question: When sliding the wheel base on, you are pushing it all the way back until the 2 front screws hit the end of the t-nut slits, I guess. Would it be possible to mount it maybe 2 or 3 cm closer to the seat as well? Would take a bit weight from the tilting mechanism of the base plate (and maybe be more comfortable, depending on the seating position and the body measurements, of course.) Cheers! : )
Jörn-Jören Jörensön yes, I am pushing the base all the way back. You could mount the base without pushing all the way back on the T-Nuts. You could slide it to your desired position and tighten down the bolts into the T-Nuts and the base will be just as firm. Hope this helps!
@Stuart Pietzka I can assure you that it doesn't. I had the same initial thought before doing this but my hands never come in contact with the plate. I will be doing another video where I show what it looks like with the wheel attached and how it feels while using the wheel.
@icekuba these screws came with the Playseat Challenge, but if I remember correctly, the Fanatec bundle also comes with screws. I know the bundle comes with the T-Nuts.
Good day i just want to ask how the experience is playing with the gt dd pro with the playseat challenge. Bought the gt dd 8nm base since they don’t sell the 5nm version separately just wondering if it holds well and can take the power of the FFB
Miguel Lehroy Ong I am actually working on a video to talk about that. May be a little while before it's ready, but the experience had been great! It holds up pretty well against the force and is not as bad as I thought it would be. I will be going into detail about how it holds up in the video.
Thanks for the Video. you are the reason i finally ordered a DD Pro ^^ I'm - sadly - a bit too large for the playseat(1.93m and 105Kg), so my legs get squished in the front which is very unpleasant. The playseat shows 5 bars on the sides(and a bit more) to get it more comfortable but it's never quite enough as it is still too small (left to right). Although i can't use the playseat(some kind of XXL playseat woould have been nice), this setup works GREAT! Not for me, but everyone else who visits and who wants to drive. Thanks again for the showing how to do it. :)
@Eispfogel you're very welcome! Your words are very encouraging and motivated me make more content. I am glad that this is useful to you and that your friends have found it useful too! Thank you so much for tuning in and sharing my content with others! It's because of people like you that my channel is growing. Thank you again!
@@JCCollinsRacing You are welcome :) The Pedals are important too, as you need a pedal mount(as you already know). There are some 3d printed solutions which i will try. Others use zip ties. Im looking forward to what you will end up using ^^ Have a good one and stay healthy!
@Eispfogel the solution I have invilves zip ties, but they are optional. I am looking to make a video on it soon. I have just been really busy with my newborn son and home renovations. Thank you! You stay healthy too!
@@JCCollinsRacing Woah gratulations! :) Take your time with the video. That's not as important as beeing a father and get the home done. Happy sleepless nights and strong nerves!
@Allaloneatron you got it! I am currently working on what I think is the easiest process for this. I have thought of a few different methods, but want to show the most effective in function, assembly time and cost. This is something that really concerned me when I purchased the V3 pedals and have been determined to figure out.
@Arun Ramdin it is hard to say. With my new son, career, and renovating my house, my time is much more limited. I will try to get something out this weekend, but can't guarantee anything.
I mounted my V3 pedals. All you need is zip ties x 4. Just thread them through the holes on the bottom of the V3's and around the Playseat base then tighten. Cut the excess off, works like a charm.
@@FOGDaheee that is a very quick and easy solution. The solution I have does use zip ties, but I did something that is a bit more robust since I am very heavy footed and have the Brake performance kit stiffest dampers installed.
Do you still use the Playseat Challenge with the DD on it at this moment in time? If so, I know a great solution for extra stability, as I am using it myself
love the opener "if you are like me didn't have enough to get a dedicated sim rig etc" honestly literally why i am here. I picked this exact same setup up with the same mentality lol glad you made this video !!
Hi, do the pedals create any problem when you close the playseat? I’ asking cause i have the csl pedals and I can’t fully close my f gt lite because of them. Thanks in advance
@Mr Gucciardi no. Once you have the pedals securely mounted. They fold up with the seat. The PlaySeat Challenge doesn't fold as nicely as it does with the G29 pedals, but it is manageable. The V3 pedals are heavier than the G29's, so you may have to use stronger velcro or rope to hold it together while folded.
I have mine mounted with the plate in the same position but drilled some new holes to move the DD a bit closer to me and use 4 fixing points. I did find a bit of flex so I bought the Pro 3D printed braces from IndigoLime and it's so much better. They're available on eBay.
@@Abarth_71 Ok this is good to know! I was about to order the IndigoLime set but I was scared the braces that attached to the plate would hit my knees but I guess not?
Great vid on a great channel. I recently came across a company that makes both Playseat Challenge shifter mounts and braces to minimize the up and down wobble. I plan to get both.
@texthemex76 I measured 1.625 inches (~41.275 mm) center-to-center between each of the 3 holes of the CSL DD base. I took the measurements with a tape measure. If anyone else has the exact measurements, please feel free to add them here. I hope this helps and sorry so late on the response.
@Patrick2332 no, sadly. The two slots on the sides will not allow the bolts provided with the Playseat Challenge to properly seat. Seems like the bolts are too long pull the base tightly. Getting shorter screws may solve that, though. I am not sure what length screws would be correct. I hope this helps!
@soyunaboladeespinas4846 it is the Playseat Challenge. To be honest, I am not sure if the csl dd will fit on the Platseat Evolution. Sorry about that...
I want to buy the same playseat like in this video & the csl base. Can i directly assemble the base on the plate or must buying additional screws or anything?
@PR1IMA it's hard to say. I will try to have something within next week or two. With having a new baby, renovating a house, and a full time career, I am having a hard time finding the time to devote to it. Realistically, it will probably be within that week, to two week time frame... not ideal, I know...
Hey man, awesome video! I’m picking up my playseat in literally half an hour and I’m waiting for my Fanatec order to arrive! Couple questions- does the rig handle 5nm okay without extra support? I’m around 5”11 so I think mounting like in the video will be too far for me (correct me if I’m wrong), and so if I put it all the way forward I’m worried it will be too front-heavy and wont be stable and will flex too much 🤔
@szymonski1905 I had mine set to the full 8nm, and the PSC handled it fine. There is some flex, but not enough to throw off your concentration. I am 6' even, and this configuration worked out really well for me. I hope this helps!
Also rocking 5Nm version here and opted only to mount it with 2 bolts and ommit the middle one , so you can move it forward/aft on the base plate without the middle bolt restricting the position. (using shorter bolts I still had lying around , without the risk of screwing them into the wheelbase)
@Marble I used the screws that came with Playseat Challenge. You can get the screws from Home Depot. I went there to get some replacements. 16mm www.homedepot.com/p/6-mm-x-16-mm-Socket-Cap-Screw-2-Pieces-803338/204225807 25mm www.homedepot.com/p/Everbilt-6-mm-x-25-mm-Internal-Hex-Metric-Socket-Cap-2-Piece-865008/323370833
Yessir! Thanks for the respect and for watching! I used this configuration for over 6 months before upgrading to an aluminum profile rig, and it worked very well! Plus, I was still able to fold it away when I was done using it.
@@jesusloveyou9523 are you referring to the G29/G920 pedals? If so, that fit on top of the foot base rail and are secured with the included large velcro strap. You forget that the strap is there.
@Florian actually no. In the few rare moments of clipping, there is a little flex in the cross member the base attaches to. Overall, there is very little to no shaking. It is a bit more pronounced in AC, but in ACC and F1 2021, there is little to no shaking. I have yet to test out out rFactor 2.
@@Danny4sure Zip ties should do the trick to get you going, but will not be a permanent solution. They may snap over time depending on how tough you are on the brakes.
Did you try to use those bolts on all three slots of the CSL DD? The middle slot is not as deep as the other two and doesn't need to be as tight. I tightened the other two down enough to hold the base in place and the middle just enough to keep the base stable.
I bought M6x16mm bolts, and M6 spacers (1.6mm thick) It worked great. But i bought a drill today, so I will drill a new centerhole, so I can have the CSL more centered over the bar, cause its very front heavy now and can tip over it feels like.
@@JCCollinsRacing I drilled 3 new holes actually. I felt that the steering wheel was too far away from me, so I had to make 3 new holes, but now its good. Now its a lot better, not so easy to tip over :)
@Tilo Frenzel the more I sim with the CSL DD, the more that I notice how much ffb the PSC absorbs. I don't think it's terrible, but it is noticeable. Also, I don't have an aluminum profile rig yet, so I don't have anything rigid to compare it to. I am putting together a review of the PSC + Fanatec combo and this is going to be one of the main talking points. Hope you tune in for that one!
Don't let the look deceive you. It works perfectly! If that is too far back, you can slide it closer to your liking. Either way, the plate needs to be adjusted and this is something that Playseat accounted for with the adjustability of the PSC. Whether too far or too close, the PSC will handle the CSL DD without issue.
@@JCCollinsRacingProblem is it will either be too far back or too close to you (if you keep the plate in its original position). I've kept the plate flipped cause the original position is way too close for me (I'm also 6 feet like you).
I also did a video attaching the pedals to the PSC (Attaching the Clubsport V3 Pedals to PSC). Take s look at it and let me know if it helps. Thanks for watching!
Ok, the video is very clear and it looks good. However, I just got myself the Playseat to pair with my CSL DD and ran into to issues. First of all, the "new" holes you use to mount the plate after you've turned it around are not tapered so the screws stick out pretty bad. I could live with that, but the bigger issue are the bolts that fix to the T-nuts. In my case the two front ones are a good 1/2" too long so once they bottom out, the wheelbase still moves up and down a lot. No way I can use it like this. Might have to go and look for shorter bolts, but this is super annoying considering how everyone raves how the playseat is compatible with Fanatec stuff. And don't get me started with the pedals where the velcro they provided is way too short to go around the V2 pedals. :(
