You have to buffer all inputs to combo. So like RIGHT before the jab animation ends do exactly what he says in the one two three rhythm. When he said that, it was the EXACT rhythm that works for me
Well, to get the Jab => B-air combo, I discovered that doing an initial dash then cancelling the lag via performing the F-tilt, then pressing L/R 1/2 frames later can make it miles easier. Or, you can mix-up by doing a Sliding F-tilt. For that, dash, then again but in the opposite direction, and finally, use the f-tilt in the direction you were initially dashing in! Below are the controls assuming the target is to your right: Jab => B-air combo: A, wait, ->, ), L/R, ->. Sliding F-tilt: ->, ). There's all the help I can offer. Keep in mind though, all inputs must be performed IMMEDIATELY. EDIT: I used a Nintendo Switch Pro controller, so it might be less effective with a GameCube Controller.
Barry Owen The sliding F-tilt is actually a pretty good mix up, I learned it pretty early when I started playing competitive smash and it’s a great way to catch people jumping back to ledge when they think they are safe.
@@shidouast not sure about Palu, but at low percents I assume down throw bair can be attack canceled and when they’re launched too high like at higher percents you need to rar bair
getting better for those struggling your holding c stick too long at least that's what i did, it's not when the sword starts swinging it's on the moment he turns if that helps.
Thanks for the instant b-air tip. I just tested Link, Joker, and Bowser, and it seems like you have to input jump + forward within 2 frames of the back tilt
I have a recommendation for those who can't do the standard, as in you run towards the opponent, then RAR. You should do the dash, but instead of flicking the C-stick before jumping, turn in the opposite direction, use L/R to jump, then immediately flick the C-stick in your opponent's direction. EDIT: The inputs must be performed VERY quickly, I mean your fingers must look like they're mashing.
I have literally been doing this the hard way. as in dash and quickly turn around, jump and back air. I did it the hard way and made it difficult for myself. And I could barely land them So all of yall suck it cause I did it the hard way. You guys and you attack cancels 😂 Video was super helpful by the way
Dang! I've had trouble doing the jab bair on Chrom but thanks to this i've instantly got it with 90% consistency. Gotta practice a bit more to perfect it more but that instant progress. Thank you so much!
Wow.... you actually helped me figure this out.... why does everyone else make it sound so difficult lol it feels like your pressing everything at the same time but your not haha def takes lots of practice but I’m excited as hell now thank you!!
you can actually do a RAR back air after the initial dash without doing an attack cancel, the only thing you need to do its forward then u tap the upper left corner of ur control stick and at the same time tap jump, now ur in the air, to do the back air u just tap forward and A or if u use the c stick just tap forward, at first its a bit trickier but if u practice and be patient it gets easier. This is just if ur facing right, but, if u want to do it in the other direction just do the same thing but reversed.
Et voilà... Encore obligé de foutre des modifications de touches sur sa manette pour utiliser un glitch qui permet de faire des Instant-Back-Air au lieu d'avoir juste du skill in-game, j'espère que cette merde à été patché depuis le temps.
I have my own version of a doing a RAR however I have both of my back L buttons set to jump (L1, L2) and then do a quick ➡️⬅️ then press both jump buttons at the same time along with flicking the c stick to where your opponent is and you get a RAR
you can acheive the same result by pressing one jump button, if you press turn around and jump at the same time you keep your forward momentum while jumping backwards, if you press forward back on cstick you will get frame perfect rar's every time
You are doing the backwards facing back airs by pressing jump before you do c stick backairs. I also am inputting fair but idk why, but probably not jumping fast enough
Palu main here; I've been pulling my hair out trying to figure out how to do the d-throw -> bair combo I see all the time in tournaments, and this video finally helped me do it! Still need to practice a bit more, but at least i know what I'm doing now.
Glad I could help! At high percent you'll want to full hop the back air so you'll need to do a RAR from initial dash. I have a tutorial on that as well ;)
I think wolf can get down throw instant bair but I'm not sure. Marth could cover ledge jump or get a nice read, but again not a main of either. Honestly I sorta main Ridley and I don't use it
Hello, When doing the jab bait combo for Roy. Do you use the rar method or attack cancel method? Are there any situations that one would be better/easier?
Since both methods work it's probably best to just find out what you're more comfortable with. At high percent you might need a full hop bair though so that's when you would need to RAR.
Just tried this last night and im able to do it 2 times out of 20 attempts. Are you seriously telling me that these pros are pulling this shit off at a consistent rate, placing high in tournaments?? This is absolutely nuts. Although I am on the joycons, I still don’t think it would be any easier on the original GC controller lol.
Like and 1000 thumbs up, everyone else on the web has been dog shit at explaining it and i got this down in 5 mins with your input and explanation of it. Thank you.
I've been practicing for months and i still cant do it more than 50% of the time. I'm beginning to think I just can't really do it because of my tiny hands or something.
Start by practicing at half speed. Learn how long you have to cancel the tilt (i think its the 2 start up frames of a move, fast but very doable). Practice only moving without drifting, then incorporate drifting. Then, (if you play roy or chrom) add jab for a kill confirm
Can you do the first one without tilt c stick? So you jab, and during jab animation you buffer left on control stick + A to do a backward Ftilt, and then just move control stick to the right as soon as the attack comes out and jump forward (within first couple frames of the tilt) to get the instant back air?
I'm assuming you're doing a forward air in the wrong direction. That's what happens when you press jump before flicking the c-stick. Focus on using the c-stick first.
If he isn't from Germany I will main Duck Hunt Btw nice video PS: Ich finde es immer wieder süß wenn deutsche Englisch reden. Weiß net wieso aber es erfüllt mich irgendwie Freude xd
at the 5 minute mark when you are describing the instant dash cancel back air... thingy, you say to hold the movement stick through the c stick cancel, how does this not result in a dash attack?
Hey :) sounds to me like you might accidentally be inputting jump before you flick the c-stick. Try to focus on doing the C-Stick flick first. The inputs also have to be within a very short frame window so just keep practicing and you'll get it.
Reverse Nair and Up-air are possible with this technique. For Reverse Nair let go off the Control Stick right after the initial dash. For Reverse Up-air do the same but flick the control stick upwards when you press jump. Full hops are not possible with this method.
Sometimes I manage to input a full hop bair. Which is actually pretty good because it connects way better after the jab than the short hop version. I just don't know how to get the full hop bair consistently... Does anybody know the input for it?
You're pressing jump before flicking the c-stick or you're doing them simultaneously, so you're simply getting a fair. Try focusing on doing the c-stick flick first.
When trying to do either of them I find I back air in the other direction a lot of the time. I use a hori pro controller. Anyone know why I might getting the Bair to go the wrong way?
I also use the hori and it works well for me with both of these, the RAR is very easy for me but I think only because I've been doing it a while, the attack cancel one seems tricky but I think with more practice it will also be easy. The hori is not the issue
I solved the issue, learn to only “half-press” the trigger while performing this technique. Beforehand I could ONLY get it consistently while facing the right side of the stage, and it would only work 50% of the time while facing to the left. However, after an hour of labbing I discovered that if you only press the trigger down halfway it work almost EVERY TIME, on both sides. 👍🏻
Its not really a tech but.. Can you explain the new 0-death of luigi to me? Or make a video? (downthrow backwards fair looking away from our opponent, nair backwards fair nair zair to the opponent up b)
@@DaKlink47 I got it from this video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-TX7xhSucu2U.html. it starts arround 9:45. In case the link doesnt work, here is the short form: /watch?v=TX7xhSucu2U&t=584s. and the original video is from the beefy smash doods, the video title is "Duck Hunt's Can Is FLOATING In Mid-Air [SMASH REVIEW #11]"
I'm using pro with jump being my Right bumper and my right joystick being tilt I also main doc. Any tips on when to time tilt plus jump cause Docs movement is pretty slow when it comes to turning the opposite direction when dashing..
Soooo... I am able to do it consistently when performing a back air to the right but I will almost always get a forward air when trying this technique while facing to the left. At first I thought my controller was busted however, I tried a different controller and that just wasn’t the case. So basically, I get it 100% of the time while facing the right but it’s a 50% chance while facing the left side of the stage... What’s the issue? I hope you respond, thank you.~ 💫
It's similar for me. Since you always start facing to the right in training mode that side just get's more practice. I alway try to not copy the right side, but find a timing for the left side that feels natural. Hope this helps a litte :)
Does this technique work for instant up air and down airs? Asking because often i want an instant down air with snake so I push c stick down and jump but an up air comes out. Just wondering if the same type of reversal c stick mechanic is occurring for me.
ive been trying this on mario and cant get a back air, have gotten some instant nairs, does that mean my control stick is too slow or am i missing something else
I typically just flick my control stick in the opposite direction then jump and do bair however I may give this a try to see which I find better or prefer so thanks for the tip I'll be sure to share this with my friends for them to learn it as well
