Also, performance... wish Crunchyroll was willing to negotiate with unions for voice actors when it came to dub. Kyle McCarley is my Shigeo Kagiyama. Though I still feel bad for Ernesto Jason Liebert, as he has to represent that replacement when he probably was trying to get paid as the union is fighting for that.

It's a show with all of a season's episodes finished before the first one aired. It's a gold standard not just in a storytelling or animation standard, but in a production standard too.

I've been wanting a Murph breakdown of Mob since I found the channel. Manga is fantastic, but EVERY season of MS100 is a masterpiece, and tackles soo many great themes and topics.

Certain parts of the AoT manga is better than the anime. Especially the uprising arc. There's also a few scenes here and there where the anime doesn't capture what the manga went for. This is a bit nitpicky but certain parts make the manga worth reading over watching it. That being said the anime is top tier for the most part!

Not AoT in my opinion. The WIT adaptation was great but Mappa made some really weird choices with direction and animatin that ruined season 4 (except for the final part) for me. The manga is better executed overall and you have the chance to see Isayama grow as an artist from almost an amateur to a true master of manga illustration.

@@vojtechtesar5767 Completely opposite for me, well for the most part. I dislike WIT cutting dialogue out especially in s3p1 but isayamas art was a lot worse early on and were able to find a good animation style for s1-3. The animation was only meh on some scenes for season 4 when it came to the titans but season 4 part 2 onwards was damn near pefect for me + close to nothing was left out

Wholeheartedly agree. The addition of the soundtrack alone (one of the all time greatest soundtracks, not just in anime but shows in general) takes it to new heights. Plus the super problematic ending from the manga was fixed in the anime.

If by full potential you mean the anime has more consistent artwork and better animation and a better soundtrack then sure. But if you mean overall storytelling, themes and character then the manga is the way to go. Not to mention pacing! The anime slows things down way too much at points. I don't know Merphy personally but considering she started with books and has included manga, I'm gonna go ahead and say it's odd to recommend something to her based on its animation and soundtrack lol

I wouldn't say it is a better experience. Rather, it is a slightly different experience. The anime emphasizes action while the manga emphasizes the light horror vibes. They are both great. But which one is better depends on what you prefer

While that is true, the manga does certain parts of the story better than the anime. So the manga is still worth reading, if you want the full story.

Pardon my french but that's bullshit lol. He also said recently that the musical that they're making is an ideal version of the show, so should she wait to watch that instead of the anime? No, Japanese culture is built around being very complimentary and Isayama, the author, is already very humble. Also the last part is false. He had much less sway with the first season, S1 was planned to be the only season, so the director threw in things that don't make sense because they were never planning on finishing the story.

100% the manga is so bad compared to the anime. If she will read it first, it will not be the same experience as watching it first. Im shocked that nobody on patreon told her to watch it first

@@eoin7664 its one of the worst drawn mangas I have ever read especially in the beginning. The paneling is boring and monotonous, isayama shows the characters always in the same perspective. You will also miss out on the voice acting, animation and incredible soundtrack. Isayama is an outstanding storyteller but his drawings are just not that good, he himself even said that.

@@Den_iz_ the beginning art is rough yeah, but the art and panelling throughout the series is far from monotonous. Also, those aspects u listed go for anime vs manga discourse in general. Anime will always have voice acting/animation/soundtrack over any manga, but that doesn't mean manga is inherently a worse medium, far from it. The aot anime does a lot right, but it also has hiccups along the way and i think the manga captures a much more appropriate tone for the story overall. Even if the beginning is rough, i think it's fine if she wants to try out the manga instead

I feel like that last part is pointless trivia. No one read the manga and was like "This character's personality suddenly changed, I wonder why?" and then we got the answer when he said it was from the anime or not. So it's just burdening her and making her see the series as less planned out by going "Keep in mind, this was influenced by the anime!" like what, why even say that lol? Also it's misleading, he never said he changed characters' personalities, he said he got more of an idea of how to develop them

Yeah AOT at one point for me was hitting levels of best story ever written. Just so well put together as in they got you hooked with the opening, then so on action and when people start to say it's trash all action no story...all the stuff you watched had context for the future so it shows your hand that you werent paying attention. Good show that gets too much hate for being popular and people thinking they can write better. Even if it's bad like people say...Pretty good for a first story published. Hope he cooks more chef was good.
