It wasnt keeping pace. If you look at the finish the supra was already slowing/cool down after hotlap going into turn #1 while the GTR cleared final turn into Tsukuba straight. Atleast 4-5 seconds behind.

By the way the car wanted to step out no matter what, the wings are there for keeping in inline at speed notice how when he slowed down the car steps out? That's cause no wind to make downforce to keep the back in check.

This setup is to provide fresh, energetic air through the slit to the second airfoil. This allows to increase angle of attack before flow separation occurs increasing lift (downforce). Same mechanism is used in airplanes' slats and fowler flaps. However this setup is very sensitive to the sizes of both airfoils, their AoA, relative placement and slit size. I doubt the guy has it well optimized

@@hydejekyll9950 there are so many cars that have done way faster times. Even 4 cylinder cars. Not just GTRs. But this is the fastest any supra has ever lapped Tsukuba so at least in the supra community it means something to them. Lol.

@@conradsealy9603 Yea you are right, for a supra that can lapped around tight and narrow Tsukuba in 55 second range, I dont think it's a failure given the original characteristic of being heavy and not so nimble handling from Supra.
