I was a teen volunteer at a hospital during the summer in high school and can confirm that this show is bullshit. 1) We all had to wear a scrub top, khaki pants, and white rubber-sole shoes. Anyone with long hair had to have their hair pulled back at all times. The dress code was strictly enforced. 2) We *never* were allowed to do any medical procedures - big or small - unless we were assisting a doctor or nurse. The closest I got to doing anything like that was when I applied a patient's prescription rash cream to her back, and that was something completely unrelated to why she was in the ER. Yeah, we wouldn't be giving stitches or even applying tourniquets unless a doctor told us to (like they even would LOL). 3) Our duties were almost always clerical or janitorial in nature. If we were in the hospital proper, we'd restock supplies in patient rooms or storage closets, digitize paperwork, send faxes, etc.; if we were working in the nursing home, we could socialize with the residents if clerical/janitorial duties were done or not on the agenda. Tl;dr this show doesn't understand hospital volunteer programs

This! 👆🏼⬆️ Also- aside from dress codes & cross contamination procedures, I know for a fact that volunteers are allowed to do even less today than they used to when I volunteered as a teen, mid-90’s as much as I hate to age myself lol I was allowed to do some bed changing stuff, toileting assistance & taken measurements that, years later, I needed to be a certified Nurses Assistant to do. Or even needed to wait until my LPN before doing! My opinion in the low standards in training to get these certifications now aside, this is an insane representation of healthcare & volunteer work lol

Thank you! When I was a junior volunteer at a hospital all I did was put out fresh magazines in waiting rooms, pass out snacks to patients, make copies for patient information packets, and eat a ton of snacks.

Also, future-doctor is a current moron simply by not bothering to consider the bleeding guy COULD HAVE INTERNAL BLEEDING. So maybe don’t assess a patient with a glance? Also, that’s the loosest f*cking gauze wrapping job ever. Not as weak as when she “applied pressure” for the Dr to *find* the vein 🤨🤦🏻‍♀️ WHAT?! First of all, her finger was floating off the patients arm lol i guess they don’t have tourniquets to squeeze the ENTIRE arm. Second, she was *PRETENDING* to push her damn thumb into the vein, SQUASHING AND BEING FULLY IN THE WAY OF the Dr trying to shove the needle into it, not even a cm away! Great idea guys. Good luck getting the medication to flow 😤 that also looked like saline but it healed her smoke inhalation and burns so it’s magical saline... maybe skipping on the tourniquets IS a good expense saver 🤷🏻‍♀️

FNAFWATCHSTUDIOS I couldn’t agree more! What I don’t get is that these tik tokers really are only popular because they’re where and somewhat attractive. That’s just objectively speaking ‘cause on tik tok, most of them do the same dances to the same songs, with minimal creativity...so there’s no way it can be argued that Charli and Dixie gained millions of followers for any actual talents. Just look at most of the Viners, most of them have no talents, but their popularity from Vine gave them huge audiences in RU-vid. Lele Pons proves my point that it’s all visual aesthetics...she may remind us that she’s a Latina every 7 seconds, but looks wise, she presents as a Caucasian girl. To be clear, it’s not a commentary against white people, it’s a commentary about white people as they’re the majority race here...if we were in South Africa, where the majority race is Black, and they were popular simply because of that, I’d be saying the same thing. These American Tik Tok “stars” really have very few skills, and they’re often so problematic.

I'm obsessed with this show because of how absurd the concept is. I started the teen volunteer program at my local hospital in high school and spent basically all of high school there, working in different departments as a volunteer. You don't even get to volunteer in the ER until you've put two full years into the program and your duties there are basically limited to getting blankets and snacks for patients, alerting staff to patient needs, and bringing equipment to the ER. The idea of a bunch of high school students spending their volunteering hours treating patients and assisting in procedures is both terrifying and the perfect set-up for a spiritual sequel to adult swim's "Children's Hospital". Edit: also we never got matching jackets. Volunteers had giant blue smocks with pockets in the front for carrying hand sanitizer.

Exactly. Plus, you're constantly around drugs. Drugs that, mind you, go for a shit load on the black market. The "jail, or..." option only exists for something that's considered an equal punishment (such as joining the military). In Holes, for example, the kids underwent backbreaking labor and were treated pretty terribly; while it's unlikely to happen IRL because of legal stuff, it's a convincing narrative because digging holes in the burning sun sounds torturous. The kids are still being punished. Working at a hospital, while exhausting, isn't exactly a punishment--nor would it be safe to have convicted criminals wandering around.

I’m just curious, but how old are you? They used to do that quite a bit for minor crimes, there was a name for it I can’t remember at the moment, but started phasing it out (at least I READ they had, anyway), with a minor resurgence I remember around 9/11 for like DUIs and non violent offenses

i was a high school “allied health” intern/student when i was a senior and i can say this is insanely inaccurate. i has to wear scrubs and clean white sneakers, hair up, no jewelry or nail polish. Also the most i ever did past watching was put a slipper sock on a patient’s foot and hold a woman’s hand who was in pain. hipaa and liability are huge parts of being in a hospital- every time a nurse had to ask the patient if us teens were welcome to observe

Nick, my fiance of 7 years recently passed away due to kidney failure. He was only 40 :( it was very unexpected and heartbreaking for me. As a person who already has clinical depression and bipolar 2 along with other mental illnesses, this absolutely made me shut down and isolate like never in my life. i was a teen volunteer and yeah, they have no idea what they’re doing. our uniform was black or khaki pants, this blue t shirt and had a badge. my job was waiting at the front desk, paper clipping paperwork, and showing patients around the hospital to wherever they needed to go. it was 2 hours (for my program).

My mom's been a nurse for 30+ years. I always applaud her knowing everything she's been through, especially with her chronic pain. That being said... I have to protect her from this show 😭 it's just so frustrating knowing how horribly written & acted it is, with little to no knowledge about REAL doctors/nurses etc.

Don't think I've really seen anyone mention this in their videos on Attaway General but I've noticed a couple fatshaming/fatphobic moments. There was that nurse in the first episode that you had to bribe with chocolate to get her to do anything, and then there was that patient to whom Kit mentioned his weight and then asked if he was picking fights as a way to lose weight. It actually used to be a common thing in the US to drop charges against young men who were arrested if they instead signed up for the military. But I can't think of a more hilariously bad idea than giving juvenile delinquents access to controlled substances.

Ah yes, I remember being hospitalized and having two teenagers enter my room and mess with my stuff and criticize my appearance. And then the old ladies on the ward had a fight and the nurses got involved personally. Its so funny seeing them shit all over germ theory in the age of covid 19.

This backwards process has me reeling. They were like ah yes we have these bunch of tik tokkers that need to be in something and then figured a Hospital series would be the most appropriate because those have a big ensemble cast anyway. But then the issue was obviously "okay but we have to keep them hot tho" so no one's hair is pulled back, a hairnet is worn like a beanie, gloves whomst've? And then they were like, but do we need to have good acting to make a good show? Do we need a script that's along further than a first draft? In this economie??

Honestly, the chocolate idea is not bad. I had a problem with another department where they would take forever to sort out my issues. Not the woman's fault, she's a very hard worker, that department is just notoriously, woefully understaffed. One Valentine's Day, I brought her some nice Ghirardelli chocolates and said thank you for all of her help. It was tactical but a genuine sentiment nonetheless. After that, she'd prioritize my issues. It's amazing how far some chocolates and a few nice words will take you.

I used to volunteer in an ER of a hospital for two years in high school. 1) you don't get cool blue jackets. I wore hideous candy-striper scrubs. 2) I didn't have patients. My main job was to clean the beds after patients had left. Over time I had other little jobs like writing names on the white board or bringing things to other departments. Maybe a couple times I did assist with something medical when it was busy and short staffed. But that was so rare. 75% of the time I just stood around waiting for a bed to clean and 99% of my job was cleaning beds. So dramatic. 3) I didn't have a cool cast of young people. My only partner was a retired old man with hair coming out of his nose. 4) I was in the ER of a pretty big hospital. Nothing exciting ever really happened.

Kidz Bop Grey's Anatomy Also something that annoys me about this show is that there's almost no spacing in between the dialogue. Each actor seems to deliver their line right after another. Like the audience has no time to breathe tbh - even during the emotional scenes.

I’ve been waiting for him to do this show. Also, I appreciate his passion for cleanliness. I’ve spent my life in and out of hospital so shows that are slack with gloves and shit really bug me and distract from the show honestly.
