They are all great machines. The decision will be based on small items, like handling differences, reverse, seating position, and what you're going to do with it - where and how you'll be riding. My personal preference? The YFZ for several reasons including reverse, and I like the handling in the dunes!
The DS 450 is an amazing machine, I just bought one after testing out a few 450s. The frame looks the strongest by far, with the resources that Bombardier has, you'd be hard-pressed to find a better machine. The engine looks like it'll last longer than most other 450 engines. An overbore engine design and nice big intake valves will keep the engine in good shape for a long time. Suspension, handling and power are leaps and bounds ahead of a YFZ.
@ATVTVCOM I have a 2001 400ex and am 6'2 and growing, so do u think it's time for and upgrade? If so what should I get? I ride everywhere. Snow, trails, track, ect. Thanks
I know this is an old video Doug, but two spark plugs on that head? Ill admit im not an expert with Can-Am but if they where trying to save every ounce, would it not have been a better design to have a two stage ignition coil instead of two separate ignition systems? Maybe im missing something there. The only setup like this i have to reference is the older Ford 2.3L Four cylinder with eight spark plugs.
What would you recommend the yfz450r or the ds450x mx? I high speed trial ride the most, do jumps that i can find, and go to the track sometimes. I want the best value for my money. Reliabily first then performance.
hi im trying to think of witch used atv to buy i have a 2005 yfz450 with big gun exhaust aftermarket axle and increases with 2 inxhes from tire to tire or a 2008 can am ds450 with fmf exhaust and a dynojet fuel programmer witch one shud i go for ?
@protomankid1017 Wow, tough question. Depending on how serious I was supposed to be riding.......I'd most likely have the most fun on either a Raptor 700 or an LTZ400....
@HunterWieber204 Maybe you should look at something like the Can Am Renegade - the sport 4wd is a great all-around machine. Otherwise your choices are the obvious Honda, Yamaha or Suzuki 450s.
@95machinehead Tough questions. Both have their strong points but in the end I'd say the YFZ will be better as there are many more easy-to-find mods for it.
I have raced the can am 450 vs a raptor 660, can am 450 smoked it also the can am is fuel injected which made the difference along with it being the lightest quad out there
@travispen1 cool i just turned 14 and saw a 2008 ds 450 at my local deeler now i just gotta save up $5,895 and i can get it then hopefully get into some racing
@rawatson83 dude think about this can am is apart of bombardier way bigger than yamaha suzuki polaris ect they could be the biggest and plus brp has the most advanced technology look at ski doo, sea doo and all can ams quads and the new commander- they aint going anywhere
@ps3dethman1 honda does have last longer but when you're saying mod vs. Mod, you need to clarafied which mod on each atv, you can waste 10k in a honda in mod and waste an other 10k in the Can-am and the can-am will win.
honda has more tourqe and reliability, yamaha has many good vehicles, suzuki has speed in their 450 class, can am is really light, and the kfx is terrible
lol not too popular in europe? wtf lol... yamaha is the best seller of quads in europe.. YFM YFZ ... and kawasaki just cant stand against yamaha and suzuki, dont have the same level of popularity. btw can am looks cooler than KTM for me =)
@DT400KFX I hate my Honda, it takes way too much money to ride comfortably and it has been so unreliable. Honda can blow it out there a** they just took a 250r frame and dropped a Crf450x in it. Mine has been nothing but problems and pain. Don't waste your money and buy something like a ds, ltr or kfx.
you guys do realise this technical stuff is only for racing. a yamaha is the best in my opinion. the lock bolt cant be as strong in a crash then a weld. the whole frame would fall apart.
