I'm still on the job at Auburn, but unfortunately as of recently I have been stuck on a rear loader yet again. There hasn't been any work on the side loaders lately, so for the last four weeks I've been doing the apartments run. What also really sucks is that I haven't been driving the truck either, rather been the offsider/runner/loader. Gotta admit that as much as I loathe the idea of being on another RL, it's a pretty easy job compared to past work =] Also been a long time since I've operated a JP5 - nice to hit the buttons on one again!
Basically Auburn is one of the logical councils which have bulk bins for certain apartments, where 660Ls are utilised instead of 240Ls. Obviously the larger blocks of units are the focus of this service, but there are plenty of medium sized properties with four-wheeled bins too. A good 95% of this run consists of 660Ls, but there is a small minority of 240Ls to empty. Some areas and buildings you only visit once a week and others multiple times a week. The biggest stop features 30 x 660Ls done Mon, Wed and Fri.
What I love about this run is most of the work is pretty condensed, plus the bins are generally presented on the roadside in a group or you can get the truck right up beside the bins. However, there are some pick-ups which get you inside bin rooms - some aren't an issue, but there are some which are a total bitch. Also got an awesome truck to work with no doubt... powerful, quick, loud and you can't go wrong with the steel spill shields. Funny this work was originally done by small litter bin sized rear loaders! Surprised it took them so long to use this machine instead!
This video shows a portion of the Monday collections in action, taken in the primary service area of Wentworth Point, which houses plenty of new unit blocks with many more under construction. Got a nice big pick-up to start with, then a 240L job, some driving shots and a few other angles. I know this is another pretty long upload, so watch what you want to; lots I wanted to cram into one video. The raw footage totalled to around 28mins, so somehow I achieved this 17min production after chopping 10mins off. Hope you enjoy watching #183 lifting and packing, along with good team work =]

Always good to see a professional getting the job done :D. I like it when apartment blocks put all the bins close to together, makes getting the bins onto the lifter much easier. On one of my stops, they put all the 240L bins out perfectly lined up. All there needing be done is positioning of the truck, then i go 'full throttle' on getting the bins lined up haha

Hey, get to see the Auburb JP5 in action you've been telling me about. I was so relived to hear the engine roar into life when you emptied the first bin with that typical JP5 sound compared to some other new ones, fantastic! You may not have been the driver, but you sure took charge of the packer, haha. I noticed 2 extra LED flashing lights on the back, quite a nice touch. I also noticed it doesn't have the rubber spill shield like most, its got a different one. Awesome footage, keep it up!

You can empty 3 bins at once with this lifter, but not with this truck, as the lid opener set-up gets in the way when you lift them up. I didn't realise until I hooked 3 on the back and attempted to dump them haha

Awesome work Mitch. It's a shame that there's no work on the side loaders but I guess this is better than nothing.

Sweet video man, fantastic to see the JP5 in action after so long ey, cheers for the upload man. Pretty smooth operating buddy, smashing those 660L in a matter of seconds haha. 6:07 was awesome, classic roadside shot right there and listen to the blast from the exhaust ey, shame the PTO wasn't activated but don't really need it. 6:27 was a top idea setting up there, too easy those 240L for ya haha done in the space of a few minutes. Like/fav :)

Its more "fun" to have the lots of bins at one place than having one by one all around you.. :)

It wouldn't be right for one of these to not let off some noise =] I'm driving it this week which is sweet, so much happier at the moment haha Yeh those extra lights are neat, looks awesome in the dark. These spill shields are the best too - if you work the truck right, it's straight up and straight down with just about every bin! Cheers mate.

Cheers mate. Start this run at 5am and finish around late morning depending on the day. How many we get in an hour can vary a lot, because of distances travelled, how many bins are at each stop and where the bins are located. Though thinking about part of Lidcombe on Tuesdays, in around an hour we do roughly 80 x 660Ls from 7 different apartments, with a total of 2km driving between them and get close to a full load. You get some heavy areas which give you a truckload in no time!

hehe Don't talk me up too much :P Yep that driving shot in the second clip was pretty sweet with that surge of power from the exhaust; very happy with that outcome!

Your years of watching garbage trucks is pretty obvious here, you know how to be quite a smooth operator with that thing.

Thanks mate. Watched it 100 times eh? lol The first clip was the only point in the video where the truck was loaded up. The ejector was at the front, but she was obviously still packing as you can see - might just notice she really slows down towards the end of each cycle.

Awesome Video Mitch! The sound of the JP5 and the ACCO are awesome, your a great and fast operator! Auburn have a good set up of using 660L for apartment garbage instead of using heaps of 240's. How many bins do you think you pack an hour and what are your working hours? Well done. :)
