Thank you for posting this video. The dealership want nearly $400 to replace this light assembly. After watching the video I did it myself in less than 5 minutes. The new part was only $82.
Hi. Thx. Very useful. A couple of questions please. Is this the RIGHT side ? Where do you get the OEM number for the part ? How much is an original Audi part ? What lights are in the module (for testing) ?
Hi, thanks for the comment, this is the right hand side, the part number will be on a sticker on the lamp, the part number is 8R0945096 you can buy them online or direct from an Audi dealership, it’s about £50-£60. These have the fog lamp and additional side light, brake light, reverse and indicator. These lights only work when the boot is open. So open the boot to test them. The fog should work without the boot open.
It should still fit, it might have some of the lights in a different position. You will need to check if the fog light works. These lower lights are the backup light and only come if one of the other bulbs stop working or you have the boot open. So open the boot when checking to see if it works ok 👍🏼
Hello Mike, Yes there is a screw there but it's not Phillips - it's a Torx T25. Lie on your back and you can just see the red plastic that surrounds the screw and you can then guide the screwdriver accordingly. Set of four long Torx screwdrivers from Amazon for under £10 are perfect for the job.
So how do you even make those brake lights work? I've never actually seen them illuminate while following a Q5. Do they start working when the hatch is open?
I seen one illuminate while driving. One thing i noticed in my 2022 was then opening the trunk with my remote, sometimes it just disengages but it’s still closes, then the bottom turns on
Don't pull the tab. There is a little bump on the female end of the plug. I just took a small flat head/straight blade screwdriver and gently pryed around that bump and pulled. You may also want to spray some PB or WD40 in there since dirt/debris tends to cake up in there.
