I was just watching a video of this with my dad, and I still hear him running around the house mimicking the "shi-shi-shi-shi-shi-shi" noise that this masterpiece makes hahahaha

You can see the car flex from the torque every time the driver puts in some throttle.

The high pitched howl of the motor mixed together with the growl of the deceleration and occasional turbo flutter is an absolutely amazing sound. Love it.

Had a 1980's Audi coupe 2.2 fuel injection 5 cylinder engine once, the sound was awesome. On fast dual roads other drivers would get out of the way to make way for the mighty Audi that filled their rear view mirror, it could see off Porsche and BMW's & sometimes motor bikes with the rider waving out of respect. Even had other vehicles hold back in the fast lane thinking the cruising Audi they were approaching would pull out. But most of the time the radio was turned down just to listen to that off beat 5 cylinder sound. Those who have never experienced this engine sound have not lived life yet. When Audi deal in fast sports cars they are not messing around, from the epic UR Quattro from over 30 years ago that changed rally sport forever to present time. I will always respect the Audi badge. Awesome cars.

Speaking of turbocharged cars,Audi S1 is one of my personal favorites.There are also two real Audi hillclimb monsters that use legendary 5 cylinder.And those are Prospeed's S1 that's driven by Nikolay Zlatkov and Audi S2 quattro of Karl Werner.Mad cars loaded with power.These two,along with crazy procharged Mitsubishi Evo 6 of Hans Schori,later driven by Toni Bueler,Bruno Ianiello's Lancia Delta S4 and Mike Jelinek's Subaru Impreza are the best sounding turbocharged cars i ever heard. Love them all.

I was incredibly lucky to have see and HEAR this amazing machine a few years ago at Chatsworth Rally Show in Derbyshire, UK - and let me tell you, it's like nothing else you can imagine, that noise through the forest, absolutely crazy, total beast, a day that I will never forget.

In my opinion, the Quattro’s I5 is one of the best-sounding “production-based” engines of all time, just because the I5 is such a weird configuration - it’s somewhere between the richness of a racy I6, and the feral sound of an overbuilt I4.

Used to love watching them in the mid 80s flying through Dalby forest North Yorkshire UK. You could hear them miles aways even before they where in sight. Them were the proper days of rally cars.

Ramp up you're volume to top notch them close your eyes . then imagine that you're in a cold dark pine scented trail in kielder Forrest with that noise coming closer from miles away. When it got to you that noise was utterly indescribable. That was the sport quattro, once heard never forgotten and would bring you to tears every time with emotion....

You listen to this thing accelerating , watching it swalloing distances with ease , spitting flames all the time , taking turns like they were straights and then you realize that beast comes from an era that drivers had BALLS to tame it . That was produced in the 80's it shouldn't be around anymore , it's 40 years old and puts to shame any modern rally car there is ... Germans did something awfully right about that legendary car and to this day all those decades later that sound haunts down all of us car and rally enthousiasts like no other ! Audi S1 Sports Quattro .
