Phase 2 of fixing a catastrophic oil leak on my 2005 B7 Audi S4. Prime suspect is the oil cooler. Unfortunately, to access it you have to take the whole front of the car off. See my other video on how to take the front bumper off.
My friend! You can remove the entire front "lock carrier" assembly of the B6/B7 platform by first removing the front bumper (easy) then removing, on both sides, two bolts above the headlight, and one bolt from the side underneath the headlight that attach the fender to the core support/lock carrier. Then remove the metal bumper (1 triple-square faster from underneath) and the impact absorbers (4 fasteners). The entire core support/headlight/radiator/condenser/power steering cooler assembly slides forward. You can.support it with an engine hoist or some clever ceiling rigging, and it will slide forward enough to give you room to do some things, potentially the oil cooler as well, without even disconnecting and draining coolant/coolant hoses. If you are completely removing the lock carrier assembly, a tip for draining coolant is to simply remove the plug that is on the bottom of the water pump/regulator housing, remove the coolant reservoir cap, and doing the above^ steps while it drains.
Its definitely not the way to do it, bolts are from the back because you worked the wrong way around 😂 audi made it so simpel with 8 bolts, 2 fanducts, fast connection on the automatic transmission cooler and coolant , 2 hoses for power steering and 2 for a/c and you can take the whole front incl headlights off.
