Next time you have a breakfast meet up I want to come!! I’m now a proud owner of a mk1 tt 180 and I’ve replaced the stereo for the double din and I love it!! Cheers for the great walk throughs!!!! 👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks Dom. Currently trying to fit the double din system with an andriod 10 stereo system. The harness has got me stumped. I need to connect from the standard TT female sockets (non-Bose) which have a 20 pin and two 8-pin sockets, into an ISO connector with 16 male pins. I'll try sending you a picture as I can put one on here.
I bought the Metra 70-1787 Radio Wiring Harness On Amazon for $20 and it worked great. It Has 2 sets of rca's for front and back Worked with my factor amp well. Just need to set up that on hot wire. Thanks for posting. 2003 audi tt coupe bose.
Well researched as always, Dom. I really got fed up with the cost and grief of upgrading and so went for the (Dominic Parrott) recommendation of the FM transmitter ages ago. I was so happy with it, as you know, I ended up hardwiring it into the 12v socket so that the ashtray cover closes correctly. I'm pretty sure there's an age factor thing going on here because I'm not that into listening to "tunes" whilst driving, like my younger fellow TT owners may be into. Certainly not enough to fanny about changing head units. Word to the wise, if anyone takes the head unit out, do a "comfort blinker" upgrade while you're at it. Keep up the good work, Dom. :-)
Yeah I tend to agree, just fitting a transmitter covers most vases and takes about 5 mins 😂 and the cheapest option too. What’s not to like. But yeah if your a sound connoisseur And want to feel every single note through your chest then it may not be for you & may want to look at upgrading everything
Hi just found your channel and my MK1 is a week old in my care...loving both FYI could I get a link for the double din which moves the climate controls under the TT steel flap please
Hey there Dom, I replaced all the speakers on my roadster with some Kicker 4" speakers for the back the center bass with a flat cheap from amazon and sounds good, just seem that the speakers needs more amp power.. don't know, anyways thanks for this video, it's been super helpful. Happy days Bro...
Dom, I understood the whole video up to..."lets jump straight into the intro" hahahaha...seriously one of your best vids...I need to change my stereo, so this will come in handy big time..I'll watch this several times and make notes ;)...I'm already sure someone else will be fitting it, but so worth knowing the detail. I owe you a couple of pints just for this! I really want to keep my TT flap...but the screen looks so good....but I'd need an adult to work it though. ;)
😂😂😂 sorry hard to get all the info Into less than 20 mins and be semi Understandable haha. Hahaha buy something user friendly for sure. Some are over complicated usually they apple / Android car play ones are good as a bit like a phone and very intuitive. Thanks man appreciate the kind words. That’s always my aim to give others understanding
I'm looking for a aftermarket autroradio for Audi TT mk1 with bose system. Do you know what is the maximum Watt power for the 4 speakers? I need an autoradio DIM1 o DIM2? What are the other specifications you suggest to check to be compatible with the orginal Bose sound system?
Thanks for the info on the rear speakers being bass speakers. Can I ask if the Centre rear is also a base speaker And if I change the rear speakers to normal speaker with a tweeter will they then work when you change the fader to rear ?
Makes sense now! Bought a cheap Halfords loom and only get low volume sound from the front. Guessing I need to need to get the canbus loom to get the amp and rear speakers to fire up?
@@TheParrottBros cheers bro! The Halfords loom had no canbus fitted, was about £12. Now decided to start my own 225 project, so will be glued to your channel! Keep up the good work mate, so far it’s been like gold dust for me!
Just at the right time Dom! I’m currently searching for stereos and speakers to replace the concert and the whole system, I found a radio I really like but i can’t find it anywhere online :/ Btw do you have any recommendations or maybe you know some nice set of speakers? Maybe something that’s almost plug in?
I don’t I’m afraid, as I’ve not looked into changing my speakers, just my stereo unit atm. Best to seek advice from a sound company as they might be able to have something compatible with your current amp
I am enjoying the XCarLink bluetooth adapter that connects to the back of the OEM concert radio with a Y cable to the CD so you can use both. Auto connects to my iPhone. On.y issue is slightly lower default and bass… any tips for that im all ears :)
Hello, I have a 2001 TT and love working on it. Lol, would you give some help regarding replacing my stereo. I bought the common wiring kit that fits a aftermarket unit, but it doesn’t fit. I have a 3 plug, 20 pin 8 pin and Bose red 10 pin car plugs. Are there any plug and play wire kits for us here in the USA that I can buy to install a aftermarket unit? Btw, I love your video’s very funny very informative thx Todd
thanks todd for the kind words, do you want to send me some pics of what you have and i will do my best to find you the right one email and socials are in the video descriptions
I got my 3.2 8n 3 months ago, been looking for a the front facia fix, the flap stays open won't close something's broken, may be a next vid idea? as always great content 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks buddy, I’m the front fascia won’t close it’s likely broken so will require the whole console part I show in the video swapping out. I’ll look into it buddy
Can't recommend Enfig Car Stereos enough. They make plug and play harnesses for a wide away of Audis/VWs etc. I've got one in my TT with Bose and another in my B6 A4
Hi Dom, great content as ever. However: I’m looking for a single DIN unit with a motorised fascia which will clear the TT flap when in use. Can you (or anyone) recommend anything which will fit? I’m after a unit with DAB and Bluetooth hands free ‘phone as well. There must be something out there! Thanks.
Hi James, I fitted the Pioneer AVH-Z7200DAB, which is a flip up Screen and yes does clear the TT Flap by it sticks out just too far to be able to close the flap when not in use. Also I have a Roadster and find the screen too dark wth the roof down so looking at other options
Hi, sorry to trouble u, but I'm a big watcher of ur vids. I'm looking to replace my faulty aftermarket head unit with an orginal HU for my 2001 Audi TT Mk1, but unfortunately I don't know what the original HU was. I pretty sure my system isn't a Bose system, coz it doesn't say Bose on one of the speakers I've looked at. My question is, as I've been gifted a Bose HU, will it work with my non Bose system?
Hey, it’s all dependant on what plugs you have at the back of the HU. You may find it works but it may or may not turn off as the canbus is different between units. It’s worth a try
Have a look on line as there are a multitude of different leads available speak to this company as might be like this one www.dynamicsounds.co.uk/ct53-au04-audi-a2-a3-a4-a6-a8-tt-active-system-interface-amplified-adaptor-lead.html
I’m planning on adding an amp and all new speakers to the mk1 coupe with a double din head unit. Would I need to rewire all the speakers to the new amp since the original Bose amp won’t work?
Hi Dom, I have a 2001 roadster with Bose and only the front vent speaker is currently working, any ideas what would cause this? Is it a knackered amp? Thanks Kelvin
Hey kevin, its a tough one for sure, was it all working then suddenly everything went off besides that one speaker? if so then i would say check everything is plugged in ok then if so likely the amp or headunit is playing up,
@@TheParrottBros it was all working before a whole load of electrical issues and repairs to the engine, the fuse on the stereo went so replaced that and now just the one speaker! Thanks I guess process of elimination now
I installed a pioneer head unit and now my OEM plug isn't working. i plug in the code reader and it says there is a connection error, any ideas on what is happening?
ebay link for the bluetooth is now outdated. My radio is appalling , looks like the original aerial has been replaced by a stubby thing. Are the original stereos susceptible to different aerials being used ? Or can the aerial lead come a drift easily ? (I haven't checked yet - sorry !)
If it’s a stock stereo there is every possibility it’s come away from behind, if you have a roadster the stubby thing usually isn’t an issue. Could have come away underneath
I have no idea what's going on with the stereo in my 2003 180hp FWD TT..the main unit behind the flip cover is a Kenwood HDD thing with a flip out screen but, it's all Japanese..previous owner couldn't figure it out so they just added a CD player deck under the ashtray..they both "work" but, the sound sucks on both.. the highlight is the sexy sounding Japanese girl that says something when I remove the faceplate on the Kenwood unit..
hahaha that sounds like a nightmare, i would remove them both and see if you can find a manual and a way to turn it to english, failing that when out you can check the plugs and get something new. someone could of changed the speakers and ditched the amped ones so thats worth a check too
There is a chance than some of the really Early ones may have missed it but I’ve not personally seen any. A friend of mine had a Bose X reg one and that was.
Do you know anyone that can fix the volume issue on the standard unit? I might look into the Bluetooth adapter to replace the CD changer to keep the factory look if I can get the chip replaced.
Unfortunately it’s not something I’m looking to do any time soon, but if I have to remove it I’ll happily make one, there should be a few on there on the 1.8 turbo doesn’t have to be just the Tt
I changed from the original Chorus Tape 4B..186 to Concert Cd 4B.. 186S, it hardly fits and also it does not illuminate at night nor display on the Dashboard. Anyone help please?
You would have to try and find the wiring diagrams online, as the canbus may differ between the two models and is awaiting for a signal that may never come
Excellent video mate!!!i have a question i have a ramair with hiedshield and i found a carbon cold air intake grouppem!! Worth it ??is better you believe ??thanks mate !!!
the carbon one is a little more enclosed which will help with heat soak and looks MEGA COOL !! but if buying new you wont notice much for the extra £400
@@TheParrottBros i know its expensive but i found a used great condition 200& original grouppem carbon and i want to know if increase hp better than a ramair foam filter thanks mate!!!
Yeah I can imagine the rear speaker upgrade made a massive difference!! Yeah Bluetooth technology is much better in a complete new unit offering playback and calls etc
I have a problem with my rear passenger speaker got the 3.2v6 it makes a wherrring noise and goes up in pitch when accelerating and deceleration any ideas what the problem is useful video Dom 👍
Thanks for that I have heard somewhere before that it could be the amp what would cause the interference it seems to happen in the warmer weather as it didn’t do it in the winter time
@@peterosborne7 it’s a good possibility specially if it doesn’t do it all the time. Easy enough to swap out, £30 odd on eBay, then just remove the rear door card trim drivers side
