I’m a newbie Audi owner got to confess I was umming and arring about owning one after many months of good and bad reviews about the car not just your channel. I wanted a useable everyday classic which was less depreciating. Stumbled on a local car 1999 180 full history mainly all Audi just 50000 warranted miles. Well I bought it today so original ,mats ,first aid kit,dealer plates,untouched toolkit even original radio cassette player 😂😂😂 just so happy. Thanks for your content it has helped👍subbed.👍

I like all the updates.... with the exception of the silver inserts on the headlights

The grill is cool. The headlight inserts definitely change the look of the front. I like them both ways. Thanks for the comment! 👍

Yeah I agree. I prefer the earlier black inserts.

Very interesting topic AC. I've always been curious as to why some Mk 1's of the apparent same year of manufacture have slight variances and simply assumed that t was down to the specs or extras ordered by the first owners. Interesting to note that the Xenons were originally available as an optional extra way back in 1999. My Mk1 225 coupe, being an Australian car, does not have any of the 2003 facelift features that were advertised for the UK market of the same year, apart from xenon lights, but still with black inserts, the oval-shaped rear view mirror. The 6spead gear stick (I have purchased an updated alloy knob) and grill (I actually prefer the 5 bar grill) are both from the original. I do note that the stearing wheel does not have the audi emblem on it that some earlier models do. I have noted that most Australian 2004 Mk1's and onwards do have these facelift features so I'm assuming Australia was just behind in the loop. Not sure where North American Mk 1's stand in that relation either? Regards S-Line Mk1's, although we have them in Australia, I've yet to come across a QS version with factory rear seat delete or one that has a black roof but I may be corrected here.... I'm wondering if that's more to do with the Australian market and its climate as most States have faily sizzling summers. Same reason there are relatively few black cars in australia - it's a land of white cars! Interestingly insurance companies increase their premiums for cars with black finishes. Perhaps QS's were only produced for the UK/Europe market, as I'm aware that only about 800 or so we're produced for the UK market, hence their popularity as a budding collectors car? Looking forward to your further videos on the Mk1! Cheers, Steve.

Thanks Steve. I wonder if cars in Aus took longer to ship due to the distance so the revisions did not appear until a bit later? Just a thought. Thanks for the comment! 👍

Thank you for taking your valuable time to give me your experience there. I've a roadster with a manual top. No one has heard of a manual. I've got to dig into it and fix the windscreen too, "while I'm in there."

The s-line in Australia came with the V6 bumper and the ones I have seen are 2004-2006.

Thanks for that info Marco. It is always interesting to hear about other variants from around the world that came about at the same time. There is a variant of the 1.8T here in the UK with the V6 bumper but that is the Quattro Sport with the black roof.

I feel like Dom has handed me off to you when he bid adieu. I thanked him for his guidance with several items, one of the best of which is the USB port install on the vertical plate behind the switch compartment. My beat-up BB roadster was up to, "my specs," and sporting an ergonomic, S, flat bottom steering wheel. Now these. I do have the larger width, 9 spoke wheels waiting for the rubber on the fat fives to wear out. Thank you Andy for carrying on. I'm in OH. Do you have any idea of your reach ? Europe ? Canada ? Australia ? South America ? Africa ? Again, thank you for your work, your creativeness.

Thank you Vic, you are most kind. Dom is a great source of information and above all, an absolutely lovely guy. I’m lucky to count him amongst my friends. He’s still going to active in the scene which is great. I will be carrying on for sure as much of my content is based around the “periphery” TT content, not just how tos. I hope that comes across in the videos. As far as reach goes, it’s wonderful to receive feedback and comments from all around the globe from TT fans. It is very humbling that people all around the world enjoy my content. Thank you for your support! 👍

And further complications. I’ve seen late model 180 2WD versions, 2004, with 3 bar grille, black headlight inserts and non xenon headlights (no ballast). And deeper boot, but that’s probably more a 2WD thing than a facelift thing.
@andycharger
@andycharger 4 месяца назад
Thanks for that Paul. There are some crazy combos of parts. I wonder if they were still using up parts at that point and stuck them on the 2WD cars!

@@andycharger maybe although I’m sure the 2WD had their own specs. More likely that they were smattering parts across cars.

Always wanted a mk1 roadster. I love my BMW 330e but late night eBay scrolling ended up with me putting a bid on a mk1 roadster and I’m picking it up on Friday. Has a few issues, CCM failed and the rear glass is missing. Is it possible to replace the rear glass with plastic instead? Similar to a z4? Thinking as a stop gap as will probably just get a “new” roof in the next few months after doing the ccm, services and cambelt… Also, love you videos and I’ve pretty much being watching them all day to get an idea of what to expect.
@andycharger
@andycharger Месяц назад
Thanks for your kind words and welcome to TT ownership! I have a video on replacing the rear glass and also on replacing the whole roof so that may help you out. There is a guy who can now fix a failed CCM if you are interested in finding out if he can work his magic? Based in Hemel Hempstead I believe.

What about the rest ? Aero blades? Oval mirror ? Cd changer and sat nav locations.
@andycharger
@andycharger 4 месяца назад
Oval mirror is a bit non descriptive and does not seem to have a definite date. Some early cars have it already. Aero blades seem to be more variant based. My Roadster does not have them and the 3.2 I own does. CD multi hanger Location also seems to vary. As mentioned, there will be another video on variants which will Follow. Thanks for your kind words.

On the S-line were the interior colours limited to white or red leather? If so, it looks like the S-line is the same as teh ALMS version we received in North America.

Hi. I am not sure on the leather colouring inside. I am sure the Avus S-line I saw have an all black interior but I could be wrong.

@@andychargerhi yes mine is a 52 plate s line and it's a Avus silver 180 quattro with 6 speed and red leather interior I have seen some differences between models though like the leather handbrake and the amount of red parts in the interior as mine doesn't have the knee pads in red or red steering wheel but I've seen some that come with everything

Can you tell me how you know if your car was recalled for the rear spoiler? If so how was it fitted glue screws etc I like originality but thinking of maybe removing the rear wing. Car sept 1999 v reg. Thanks
@andycharger
@andycharger 3 месяца назад
All cars were issued for recall but it was down to the owner to take up the option. There are still a few "non spoiler" cars around although they are very rare. If the car was manufactured after the recall date, it was automatically fitted with the spoiler. The Spoiler is bolted to the boot lid.
