In this video I am composing a quick track using a few instances of Riffendium, taking advantage of its traditional sounds, but also the more experimental ones. During the video useful tips and workflow suggestion are given, to improve speed and results while using Riffendium, Audiofier's latest library for Kontakt 5.8

Hi. I bought "Riffendium 2" and so far I am really excited about it! Awesome instrument with incredible sounds! I am still learning and I have to say your videos are very helpful and so is the manual (highly recommended for any user, simple and to the point). My question to you is why do you use in total 3 instrument tracks for one snapshot? Is there any particular reason to have the "notes", the "ks" and the "riff" in 3 separate tracks? I tried to incorporate all in one and it is working (my DAW is Cubase Pro 9.5). And also I would like to recommend something for a future update. It will be better if we could see the notes written down in Kontakt when we press a switch key. For example I can see where a chord is (ie purple colour), but because I am not a keyboard player it is difficult for me to identify where I can find that in Cubase's piano roll. (it's the same problem you had in your video here, at the 9:45 time mark, and your solution was to transport up or down.). Thank you, keep up the good work .

Thank you Antonis for your kind worlds. First of all i must point out that, as you might know already, the 3 tracks are the same channel/track, that i just use for convenience. Track 1 (the trigger track) most of the times loops every bar or 2. Track 2 might contain the note triggers, so this one might loop every 4 bars or more, and the same with the Keyswitches track which might just change from verse to chorus. So for a looping convenience, the 3 tracks idea works better for me. Also I can always copy and paste track 1 (trigger track) to other riffendiums, without having to record C1 (or C2) again. I can copy and paste track 2 (notes) if the other riffendiums have similar mapping, otherwise i can just edit track 2, maybe just adjusting the octave globally. If i had all that in a single track only, i could not copy just the trigger from one riffendium to another, or i could not just copy the notes and/or transpose them without having to enter the piano roll. I can do all that in the main window. But if you find other ways to work conveniently and you prefer them, that's great too. I tend to find the best way for me for each VST, and i have always been separating key switches from notes anyway with orchestral VST, for instance :-) Have a great day.

@@Audiofier Thank you very much for your reply. I see that it is a matter of preference and convenience at the end of the day. I will try to see if I can work efficiently by using only one track first as I will probably use too many instances of the instrument and I am worried I will get lost with too many tracks opened in the project window of Cubase :) Of course I will always have in mind that there is another method if that proved to be inconvenient or impractical.

@@antonisantoniou1944 Hi. When you mentioned " too many instances of the instrument" i think there is a bit of confusion there. I am not duplicating the Kontakt instance. I am opening the same track 3 times. It is the exact same track, the same kontakt instance. Like if you were using one Kontakt instrument (on midi channel 10) and did separate regions for kick, snare etc... but the instance is still the same on channel 10. That is possible in Logic, i think it's possible in Cubase too.

@@Audiofier I think I understood now . And it makes more sense actually ! You are using the same instance of Kontakt with multiple outputs. Thank you :)

@@antonisantoniou1944 Not multiple outputs, it's the same track, that, in Logic pro, can be opened multiple times, but it is exactly the same track, no different midi channel, no different outputs, just a convenient way of distributing different parameters on the same track without having to merge regions. Same kontakt instance, just visualised 3 times.

It's not very clear, Please specify how you would like to proceed for notes and KW .

Sorry, but I'm not understanding your question.

You can do that in the same channel of riffendium itself. No need to make 2 different channels notes and keyswitch.
