What a mess. This rather tired base station has come via another engineer in Yorkshire. His customer bought it via Ebay where the set was declared as 'used'. now that suggests it works....and the lising said "worked lassst time used about 5 years ago". What the lising didn't say is that it had an 80 channel illegal modification fitted, plus a roger bleep which as usual had killed the set. Interestingly when I got the set back working with the mods removed, the set only produced 500mW. Anyway, I was able to bring this up to 3.2W
After a full recap & extensive reswiring to restore the PA funcion.....and the hi/lo power function, we finally got there.

I know I am not too keen on Audioline/Uniden/Uniace sets, but what a mess, not only what they did to it was wrong, but the state the board is in is a crime! 🙄 😵‍💫👮 It needs a little ❤Well done, Richard. 👍

Stating the obvious - what a mess and sadly displaying the worst weaknesses of Uniden boarded radios all in one rig. Great job getting it back to a functional standard and making an utterly fascinating video.

Don't know how the signal generator noise doesn't drive you nuts! Maybe just my ears, but I have to turn the audio down when you do it. One of life's torturous noises! Another set resurrected though Richard. Good stuff.

Your brain just notches out the 1khz tone over time. Imagine a workshop with three benches in operation at the same time with each signal generator 'not quite' 1Khz thus producing beat notes. Richard

The Audioline base station was a very good radio I've never had one myself but they are really good and somebody added a mid band EU board as well and a roger bleep board maybe it was used in the past for DX'ing and I'd bet that the last owner most probably used a linier amplifier as well to get out better but all of these modifications are highly illegal and if say Ofcom knocked on your door then they'd be bang in trouble so really it's not worth the risk taking chances like that on the CB radio. Bear in mind these illegal modifications greatly degrade performance on both sets of channels & usually culminate in killing the radio...often permamently. Richard, G0OJF, UK
