I’d really love some true audiophile reissues of The Kinks and The Who in 2024! As in, One Steps or UHQRs, not that half-speed mastered fluff.

Jefferson I concur The Harrison / Belew Remain in Light tour was awesome They opened for Les Claypool and John Lennon And they got to play a complete 2 hour joyous set CLaypool played the complete PF Animals album - killer night

Wow that would have been killer! We actually got X opening in SF, and it was one of the better times we’d seen them. Can’t imagine Claypool doing animals, I’m sure it was epic!

My 2024 is a bit of both...plenty of new releases I am interested in (or have not even learned of yet) and buying solid used OGs (that I can decide if I want to upgrade at some point in the future). Great roundtable!

Hey Steve!! ...and Happy New Year to you and your Family! What a true/fun episode. You might laugh but I was chosen to go to Lake Couchiching here in Ontario for Music Camp back in 1984. As much as George made fun of you....at that time everyone was listening to Spyro Gyro's Morning Dance was a HUGE 'thing"...along with Pat Metheny. These were top notch jazz players who loved that album so I am happy you got that Nautilus copy....so, way to go. I finally got my Who's Next half-speed (3 months later) and I have The Lamb 4LP on order. So happy with my Selling England and Phil Collins 45rpm and I may even go for Foreigner's 1st. I'm truly excited. Peace Man!

Hi Darrin. Happy New Year. I'm very happy with my $20 Nautilus Cut of Spyro Gyro. It sounds great. So happy you got your Who album. Wow. That took forever. Im waiting for my 45 rpm Phil Collins. Me excited too. Have a good one.

You will absolutely flip out over the Phil Collins. It truly is amazing. As much as you and I are huge fans of Miles and I honestly LOVE his 2016 half speed?? Honestly... it's a TRUE tie. But then Chad used a 1st generation production copy but Miles got the actual original so at the end of Somewhere Over The Rainbow (after Tomorrow Never Knows) Phil can be heard saying.."ok". On the 45rpm you truly have to listen for it but on Miles?? it's dead there. I am keeping both because it's one of my fav sounding albums. Would LOVE to hear (no pun..LOL) your thoughts. Be good

@@Universityofvinyl Hey Tim!!! Happy New Year to You and your Family. Bright Size Life is so amazing...but honestly?? You have to try As Falls Wichita, So Falls Wichita Falls as well as American Garage, Offramp, Travels and Still Life Talking (on the Geffen label). I swear...I know you're an audiophile but you're wise and extremely "open". These albums will make your sound system sing.I promise. Be good my friend!

Good stuff Steve. My two (or less than) cents re: a few of these regular panelists & "truth telling w/out a subtle agenda and/or modest label prejudice" over hundreds of videos, in total, in 2023: 👍George🥇 👍Tim🥇 👍Mazzy🥈 👍Patrick🥈 👎Nathan Others: Not enough 👀 in 2023 by me.

The Plangent process is great. However it does nothing to extend the low frequencies.
@stevewestman7774
@stevewestman7774 9 месяцев назад
It's superb at adjusting tape speed.
@JeffersonDD
@JeffersonDD 9 месяцев назад
Hey Scott! My point with the low end is that now that such low frequencies are easier to cut on vinyl, and if they’re using digital anyway, they might as well use plangent-corrected files, otherwise they’re compromising on SQ.
@scottwheeler2679
@scottwheeler2679 9 месяцев назад
Yes. Not only for tape playback. It corrects speed errors in the tape that happened during the recording too
@scottwheeler2679
@scottwheeler2679 9 месяцев назад
For sure! I do not subscribe to the idea that an all analog chain n offers any advantage. If it were up to me the Plangent system would be used for remastering every analog recording.

Please, no more Steely Dan, Genesis and Phil Collins, it's so boring. There's so much new music to talk about. Ask Mazzy to help if you're stuck in the past. I wish you very best in 2024.

How about we look for the best sounding music? Audiophiles seem to pick music based off how nice the recording sounds rather than how good the actual music is. E.g Steely fking Dan 🙄

@@audiotomb But I love stirring audiophiles about Steely Dan, how much are they paying for that magical uhqr of Aja? If i was to buy that album id want the worst possible pressing of it so i couldn't hear the music ☺️
