The auditory memory one is so funny to me because that part of my brain basically shuts off when it perceives that whatever the person's talking about has nothing to do with me (i.e. if it's info that goes over my head or if it's someone else's responsibility). Except, they're still talking to me. 🤣 So, I'll have a coworker ask me later to report on what they said and I LITERALLY wasn't paying attention.

Definitely something to be aware of - it sounds like you are! - and something you can work on if it's important for you =)

I wish I had these mind exercises when I was younger, it might have helped, when I'm around certain people I have to prepare myself before they speak especially in noisy environments, I often get messages mixed with a hilarious interpretation, I get irritated when I hear people mumble in a group discussion then everyone bursts out laughing, I can however understand people who speak clear English and this being the older generation in most cases, I was diagnosed with APD in 5th grade by the Scottish Rite Center, then a few years ago I was tested by another group who said I also have ADD, it has not been a fun journey especially seeing old friends go on with very normal lives.

Oh man, that sounds so difficulty, so sorry you've had such a hard road. It's never too late to use tools like these though, especially therapeutic music!

Have you ever gotten an EEG done? What parts of the brain did it say were operating abnormally?

Auditory memory is purely a mechanical process. It means remembering the distinctive sounds you have heard. Such as recognizing someone's voice ovre the phone, or recognizing the specific sound of a car engine. Or the ability to evaluate the quailty of high fidelity loudspeakers compared to the live sound of musical instruments. Auditory memory does NOT mean remembering ideas communicated through language. That is conceptual post processing. Auditory memory is strictly perceptual... that is, memory of sound, not memory of ideas spoken by language.

I usually have trouble when I’m out of my routine for certain asks. For example, I might not make sense of what I’m reading if I haven’t been exposing myself to much reading lately and find myself trying to read aloud and voice out what I’m looking at in order to get back on track. I feel like it helps but I’m not sure why. Some other troubles I have is I can never figure out what a person is saying when they are faced the other way around. Audiotory memory is also very difficult for me since sometimes I seem to focus and put my attention into it with much more ease while other times I can’t figure out what the hell was just said to me. It’s infuriating. Do you have some advice on these -especially the last and first one- since I cant figure out the cause nor a solution? I’ll try and read a book aloud in the meantime.

@@HarklaFamily I will, its just that I keep on having these problems for a period and none at all during another. I just want to figure out what triggers my fall or what it is that makes my attention and awareness regarding what I see and hear 10 times better. It's infuriating. During day I can listen and get most of what my uni lessons teach me but when I get home I can't start reading a middle school book without stuttering and it only gets worse alone. Can anxiety trigger such stuff? Also, I did have neurofeedback, but the people weren't really good at using their device and it just did not help. I did not start willingly and for these reasons in the first place. I'm just truly afraid of losing my senses, cognitive and emotional abilities. Even my memory gets all over the place. I'm just filled with sadness each day. So easy to cry for basic stuff that other people tell me. Almost like my muscles are gonna give up anytime and I'm just 20. Idk what to think.

I have a child who has a speech delay and he cannot pronounce words or speak very well. Would this be related to cpad? As he displays a lot of the signs you mentioned

It's possible that there's a connection! We recommend getting a speech and language evaluation!

came here bcs i had a bad first impression while seeing my orthodontist the first time for my braces. i entered the room and he's like "what's up?" and i heard it but i didnt respond to it because i thought he was talking to someone else and i went up straight saying "can i just sit here?" and also when we're in the middle of the treatment he asked me to sit more near and i didnt know that he was talking to me so i stayed quiet and then he askedme again and i felt kinda ashamed like yeah ... i hate it. i hope i can treat this better.

Great video, but how do you touch Twister spots while blindfolded?
@HarklaFamily
@HarklaFamily 2 месяца назад
The Twister game that we talk about in the video that you can do blindfolded is one that has different textured dots on the mat, so you use your sense of touch to identify which spot to be on! It's linked in the description!
