The 'Magnificent Seven' have arrived in America, but as usual trouble's following close behind. Drugs have been discovered among their luggage, and it looks like they could face a lengthy spell in prison.
"This is wonderful... Now we've got the police of two continents hunting us down! It's only a matter of time before INTERPOL, and the mounties move in!" It's that sort of situation that makes Auf Wiedersehen, Pet essential viewing.
They were all great, but Barry was just the best. Only Tim Spall coulda played him that well. If you have seen All At Sea, on BBC4 you will have seen Tim turn into Barry several times whilst sailing around Britain LOL!! Hes great!!
great series best ever i once worked on buildings and these sort of things used to happen, there was a great sense of togetherness espiscally when they were in the manor with working for allie frazer, the episode in cuba was not as good though rest pat roach and gary holten amen he died in a pub in nottingham where i was born.
During Oz's walk along the girder, the air seems to be totally still. Of course the whole thing's done in a studio (the acoustics indicate that), but would this be actually for real? It doesn't tally with my experience once of being in a 17th-floor flat in Melbourne, and virtually unable to go out on the balcony because of the strong winds at those levels - which would have rendered conversation very difficult as well. Different conditions in Vegas, perhaps?
in about 1980, I was driving a truck in Saudi Arabia, mainly from Dammam Port, SeaLand terminal, to Riyadh doing 'internals'. The money was good, better than the money I'd made driving overland from the UK. Diesel was coppers per gallon, no drivers' hours legislation. It was hot and dangerous. Every Arab assumed Allah would protect him. Me, I just drove defensively! One load was to a new hotel being built, maybe 50 storeys. When I got there, the guys on the ground said that I needed the boss's signature. Naively, I asked where I could get that. They ushered me into what I soon realised was an open lift with mesh 3 sides and nothing on the 4th. We set off up the side of the building. I was soon shouting 'stop'. the builders, Indian of Pakistani just started to laugh. The building was a concrete shell and we were going up the side of it. the floors whizzed by on the open side and I slunk lower and lower until I was almost horizontal on the floor. The 3 or 4 builders aboard were convulsed with laughter. I was close to wetting myself. We stopped at a semi-circular balcony maybe 40 odd floors up. The lift was near the edge of an oval protrusion from the building. There were no barriers to stop anyone falling off. The builders told me to get off. I edged close to the gap and scrambled onto the floor. I couldn't stand, but, monkey crawled to the center. All the workers were standing, It was obviously hugely amusing to see my terror. The boss signed my delivery sheet. I asked 'How do I get down?' They pointed to the lift with the 3 mesh sides. I replied that I could not get back in that! 'OK, take the stairs.' they said, laughing. The 'stairs' had not been completed beyond being a 40 odd storey of concrete slopes. I wore out the seat of my jeans, sliding down the centre of those slopes. No barriers. Less petrifying by the time I only had about 5 storeys to go! John
