What you may soon discover is that Aurora is a musical chameleon that embodies every genre she explores. We all have our favourites but I personally enjoy every one through her career which I have binged over the past year being a new fan. Unfortunately she will most likely not explore this genre again as her personal inspiration has matured and changed with age. But we get to enjoy these amazing performances and experience the songs in their original era, when they had the greatest meaning to her.

This was early in her career, many years ago. She released 2 albums after this one. (or 3 really because the second one has two chapters) It's a really cool song, and a fantastic album. But if she stayed in the same genre for all these years, I think she would have ended up as "old news" and loose fans, instead of gaining millions. Also she matured, and a new tone in her voice comes along with that. Happens to all of us. She's more artistic than most singer/songwriter/producers, and she's brave. She's not afraid to explore and do different things than others. Actually it's her goal to make each album unique and different from the previous ones, but at the same time they are all linked together. Just a few weeks ago she won an award for that very reason. P3 Gold award 2022. It's a very honourable prize and only given to artists who will remain as an important part of Norwegian music history. Aurora is not a world you can explore and understand in a few days. You have to dive really deep. That's what so special about her and her music. The song you asked about where she featured is "Helvegen" by Wardruna. It's old Norse/Pagan, and a very sacred song about passing over to the afterlife. And btw Wardruna is on the soundtrack of the tv series Vikings you mentioned. Einar Selvik, lead singer in the band, has a small role in it too.

Her concerts are still as intimate as this today , she doesn't like the idea of the massive arena's when on tour , she likes to connect with her fans

This is an amazing performance. I love that the more AURORA "OverAnalzed" video's you do the less you pause. It just reminds me of other reactors who "forget" they are reacting to her performance! I'm not saying thats a bad thing, it is simply the attention that she demands in her performances. It's not your fault! 👍 Great reaction, keep doing what your doing! One recommendation I would have would be "All is soft inside" live at KEXP, my favorite live she has!

This is where the influences of metal music that Aurora loves come into play. One reason why metal fans like me love her. Another is her personality.

This was an early song by Aurora, from her first album, and was one of the harder rocking of her songs. She co-wrote it with a Norwegian songwriting-producing duo named “Electric”. They co-wrote two other songs with her “Churchyard” (check out the version live on KEXP Iceland) and “In Boxes”, a quirky one but much in the same groove as this one: she sings from the point of view of a serial killer (live at Lollapalooza is fantastic!). The shamanic band she performed with was Wardruna. It was just the one song as far as I know, called “Helvegen”

Watched this again tonight after seeing your reaction to Wardruna. RU-vid had Becoming Aurora cued to play next and it reminded me of a “documentary” I watched called Once Aurora which I found very interesting. It shows how much of a struggling journey it was for her in the beginning. Its footage is shot as if she was unaware the camera was on her as if she was living her life and someone just happened to be recording her. Defiantly worth watching

You should do Black Water Lilies from the same show. It's the opener, and her vocals are insane! This entire concert is great, but that's the one I keep going back to most often. (I do love this one too, though.) I get what you're saying about how special some of her older stuff is, but I think it's unfair to expect her to stay in one place. She's a true artist, not someone just trying to grow their brand. If she's not doing what moves and inspires her as she grows older, she's no longer the artist we fell in love with in the first place. She would just become formulaic. I may hate her next album (doubtful), but if it came from her soul, I would never say she should go backwards. I would just say that we've grown apart a little bit. 🤷‍♂️

Probably written back when a friend at a group meeting threw herself into the nearby ocean. She's had some horrible tragedy in her youth. Another friend was killed in a car crash around the same time. Then, a close male friend was killed in the Utoya massacre of 2011. There are also songs from those incidents: 'Under Stars', 'Winter Bird' and 'Little Boy In The Grass'. Please have a listen to the concert opener from this show: 'Black Water Lilies'.

LOL. This artist is clearly not for you. She doesn't need your analysis and advice. She values total creative freedom and hates to be put into a box. She's on a deeper level than most people. You are still swimming around on the surface and she's in the 3D space deeper down of what matters in life. You have a lot to learn from her. You can teach her nothing. She has said she kind of selects her fans by her constant evolution and if you cannot handle it you disqualify yourself as a fan. Her early producers and manager tried to put her in a box and tell her what to do. She even said she would quit as an artist if they ever tried that music industry BS on her again.

Love this song and performance, but I love stuff from all her albums. Impressed she refuse making the same music over and over, and also quite sure that would bore her to death. I see a lot of people wishing she would basically make her fist album over and over.

When you going to get a camera?! Lol. I think you'd like Silent Violence by her, it's an amazing track. Also, thing about the phones/cameras. There's a live recording of someone asking her during a show to take a selfie with their phone, and we all know what she did! She happily obliged and took a few selfies and handed it back, simply magical. Her fan interaction during a live performance is completely unmatched. So, I don't think she minds at all.

I have a feeling this was an industry showcase. I've seen the whole performance and it looks like the entire crowd is "older" folks which would also explain the fairly small venue

The "viking/shamanistic" band you are referring to is Wardruna (the song Helvegen). They actually made a lot if the soundtrack musikk for "The Vikings" series. So the circle is complete.... :-)

She just did this last month. A VIP virtual concert that I found interesting. She seems very different… more aware of the camera. You might be interested to watch ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-HGKK7QQgYWg.html

She is pretty versatile and she make just "Aurora's" music. And music evolve with her "Aurora's now" - also she like to discover new sounds. She uses many sounds or music genres or moods (It is noticeable when you look on her albums one by one and also on last one albums she experiment with different sounds on one album). I love all her music and from one point of view it is great she is not the same all the time (she is very creative!) but of course from the other point of view as I loved what was i wish she would sometimes return there :). But overall it is good as she is not like caged in one sound (like a hostage and with time it will be repetitive) and what's more many of her supporters already used to it - but it is probably because she is so far always great:). And it has this common thing: her voice and great lyrics with message. Also I noticed some of her concert (especially these older) has some main theme or mood or feeling or sound stylization. This Honda stage was like more "rocking", KEXP was more energetic and also different mood, of course Nidarosdomen and Current also has its own mood etc :). Hard to explain but it is how I feel these concerts:). Ps. Too be honest I am not concerned with her music journey (if it last as she give me a lot of enjoyment with her great music and personality). If anything I am concerned that she should be more careful with her voice as I saw and see numerous times she has concerts day by day for a long time or some problems with overusing her voice (recent was this karaoke thing from Game Awards). I guess so many concerts is because she does not want (or like) to make this "big concert" and prefer to more connect with the fans. Ps2. But i agree I would love to see more songs like this (with "rockish" elements). The best would be have "cloned" many Auroras from the past with their music, then everyone would be happy ;))). Of course joking.

I agree! This was a great era of sound from her. I like the new stuff but it is headed into a more new age sound that I wish she would come away from a little. Nothing wrong with new age, per say…and there’s a few songs I really do like from her off the most recent album but if you go to far left with that sound it starts to all sound the same…kinda Enya- ish in the end. Try black water Lillies from this same concert. It’s amazing. Thanks as always for sharing your thoughts and opinions with us.

The shamanistic band that you thought of is Heilung. Listen to Anoana! And I have one more: Aurora made a great version of Under the Water where she sang in a different language: watch?v=vFm70zF92mo

This is a different name than the one I just looked at. I think the other band, Wardruna, is the one from Vikings I was made to think of, and Heilung is probably the shamanistic band I remember having seen a piece of. I think we should look at Heilung next. ty.
