It's pretty legit that he bought that kid with him, I remember he helped that kid out with a new bike on one of his super old videos, so it's cool to see Augs still in contact with him
And what he is saying is spot on, you have these people chasing what seems to sell, what bests suits the algorithm, you then end up with a group of guys who all look the same, behave the same, release the same material, there's no authentic self-expression.
Augie, subscribed to you at 27k have been around since the beginning. What you’ve forgotten, is that you yourself are a piece of art that inspires your viewers, God made you unique brother. Watching you interact with your environment, wether it was the old bike shop, seeing Angel, or seeing the city through your eyes brought us a whole other level of inspiration, to go out and do the things we wanted to do and live at the edge like you. Truly living, your positive attitude back then to was unmatched, you always rolled with the punches, now it seems as though your inner kid is dead and that’s why deep down your audience is not connecting with your new videos even though they’re artistically fire. I mean this out of love man, you’re one drop in the ocean, but your true un jaded self that we’ve all seen and fell in love with is a super influential drop that had a positive ripple effect on all your subscribers. I don't think RU-vid's the issue . Maybe the ego of some . Don't forget where you came from is all l would say . Personally l found his vloggs very creative even more so than what he does now .
Yeah. He doesn’t seem to realize the short little films he makes aren’t really as good as the old vlogs as he made where it was him showing himself get by n jus exploring. I def enjoyed the old stuff wayyy more.
Austin made a valiant point. The benefactor of being a RU-vidr shouldn't be dictated on quantity A.K.A. money. I went back packing for 9 months through Europe for about $1500 granted I had the money to spend on the trip but what I learned from the trip has a greater value then the money could ever have. The issue I have with RU-vid though goes back to when it became monitored to begin with. Creativity never dies when money comes into play. Its essentially just another thing you ultimately have to overcome. I personally really enjoy Austin's content. Its fresh and different and I followed his volt loosely back in the day because I didn't want to backpack off of someones success instead I wanted to understand and manipulate it into my own. Personally I prefer to do BMX edits but with his influence through RU-vid it also made me want to discover other types of filming through out. My mission now is to figure out which influences I want to manipulate and vise versa.
I think what he describes is that people just jump on whatever is trending whether they have any interest/passion in it or not, as long as it gets them views, so they keep pumping out unoriginal and soulless content that just makes the world a little bit less authentic and shallow, for some people. Augie is saying that's a trap he personally fell into and he wasn't happy, even if people were enjoying his content. I respect that he's being true to himself and not putting fame and money above integrity.
Ok reality is the algorithm will not pick up a quality video just because it is a quality video. It has no way of knowing it. ( I totally understand watch time etc.) If you are new and your first video is superb, nobody will ever see it. I would even go as far as open a channel with zero subs and put the new James bond movie on it. Nobody will ever know. I respect all of you guys you have been on this platform for 10 years (Kudos) not many people are familiar with how the cookie crumbles these days with the algorithm. This is the reason why it is so crazy on here and everyone is going after views, views, and views. In addition to it, any collaboration or opportunity you may have, the first thing they look at is how many subs do you have. So there is that. I agree with creativity is taking a back seat for this and I would even go as far as that YT doesn't know anymore what YT is actually really about.....this is just the icing on the cake. Stay Safe.
Back when I made my RU-vid account, it was all about funny videos, pirated films and music, tutorials and some footage from games. RU-vid didnt pay people for ads. It was truly free platform for everyone. And now its a buisness. People are uploading the same content about same things, trendy shit and stuff like that every fucking day. Billion revievs of tech, billion reaction videos, billion gameplay and so on. This is fucking stupid. Its like da Vinci would paint his Mona Lisa, it would go trendy ad everyone else would paint the same fucking Mona Lisa picture because its trendy - thats how RU-vid looks like today. And people doing this are even calling themselves "content CREATORS". This is so disgusting.
The OG augie fans needed this clip! I think he’s totally right to feel that way because its not natural to put your self in a mind set to feed a algorithm daily. I feel like the Danny Duncan friend is Panza (loved his older content but its become so RU-vidy its extra lame now a days unfortunately) he was extremely talented with his edits during the vlog days but the videos now just aren’t as authentic. I think the vlog can evolve tho and be something healthy where its not done daily and just done when it feels right. We all have AMAZING days and some days are blah and some you can nearly not get through that’s natural and the daily vlog style of content is so toxic in its self because it forces you to try and make everyday amazing imo, even Casey neistat talks about how detrimental it was over all to his personal life in a recent interview on Steve o’s podcast. Honestly who that was a Casey fan can deny that part of the attraction to watch daily was to see someone living this amazing lifestyle that many people only dream about right? I dunno i hope augie panza and billy see this because as someone who considers them self a big fan from their early YT days they’re content was SUPER genuine & authentic and I’d trade all of them doing what they’re doing now to get them back together just hanging out and riding as a crew, I get the chase for the bag & i cant knock it but damn guys you 3 had some real gold & IMO together can go so much further. Just look at the lox and how they have been able to stay together and on top of their craft for so long by killing their egos and standing as a unit that moves as one when needed but is just as powerful and respected on their own.
People are so un-accepting of new and different ideas, point's of view, and against the grain opinions these day's, you get cancelled, destroyed, bullied and flagged off any big platform just for doing or saying something different, this is my main beef with YT, it used to be a great place to find different opinions, lives, and research, but now it's impossible to find anything deeper than the same old mainstream rhetoric, it's become a very sterile and uninspiring place.
Its called "RU-vid"... I know what hea means, people are mindless thanks to Social Media but just sayin... its in the name. Shouldnt be such a shock and thats what the platform was founded off of.
