The school uniforms, at least at the government school I work at, are all the same brand. Kids that can’t afford the school uniform usually have it supplied by the school through different programs. It also means kids don’t have to think about what to wear each day.

Hi guys, good to see Macca back! There is a good reason some restaurants do not accept cash, it's to discourage robberies. That is also the reason for the sign which informs people that there is no cash on the premises. Doctors and Dentists do the same thing. These businesses are often dealing with very large sums of money and are a tempting target for thieves. With out cash you not only protect the business from losing money, but you also protect the customers and the employees who could very well get hurt during a robbery. Thanks for the video and congratulations on the forthcoming addition to the family!! All my very best wishes.

The only thing that I can say about the use of uniforms is they are identifiable, when students are on outings. If you're a parent and there's a school shooting and you can't describe your child by their physical features then you have a problem, don't blame that the fact they're wearing a uniform, especially when some clothing labels are popular and you don't know what other kids are wearing on that day! Even in a school situation were students wears a uniform, you can do other things, to identify YOUR OWN CHILD, like hairstyles and accessories! Uniforms are the great equalizer, placing all students on the same level, well they are supposed to! When my daughter went to school her FEMALE classmates/ bullies would go on and on about how her clothes were secondhand. As a child of a single mother, they would bully her for everything and that included her so called "secondhand uniform". I might have raised my daughter entirely on my own but everything she has is brand new. To the detriment of my own health and the point of starvation, my daughter would never have gone without. What she got was items that she "needed" not "wanted" unlike her classmates. School is not where you go for a popularity contest.

School uniforms were brought in to kinda squash in-school bullying in Britain as a whole (in the early 90s), when not having the latest style thing. Schools would/will fight with other schools still because of social things, uniforms included in that mix to differentiate between each other. But were mainly preplanned, a kinda tribal mentality to some degree. These only really happened if an innocent was hurt before it, then was organised. Teachers didn't really have a clue most of the time unless a gobshite grassed/snitched. I'm guessing that something similar happens in the States. A punch-up, and not guns and such involved.

There aren’t brands of uniform. Most schools sells their uniform at the school uniform shop and you can’t get it anywhere else as it’s specific to the school.

I went to a Private School during the 70s and 80s, not because we had Money, but my Single Mother got special dispensation on Fees, they allowed a certain number of these in those Schools. That kinda put me on the back Foot socio-economically, and that was an issue with many things with bullying. The Uniforms all came from a single Manufacturer, and every year the School would have Second-Hand Uniforms for sale, which is how we got ours. It was the same with Textbooks, second hand was how we got them too. Bullying was bad enough within this, but the couple of ‘Casual Days’ we had in the year were terrible, and I didn’t look forward to them, unless Mum happened to be able to buy something new, which was rare. So, School Uniforms definitely reduced the bullying for sure.

The twist tops story reference the beer is an interesting one, I don't know one single person that has ever done that, it's the twist metal tiny lids I think he's talking about if he's talking about beers, and I mean not many people carry a bottle opener on them. Although, a company in Australia did bring out a plastic, twist lid beer that looked like a coke bottle; Carlton Cold I think it was, and it was disgusting so it didn't hang around for long.

In USA, cards become popular in my opinion due to two factors.... Firstly: Prices shown are NOT what you actually pay. So it is impossible to see if you have the right amount in existing cash in the pocket. Nasty is thinking you can make correct cash then finding that you have to track some larger note, as change in hand falls short. Now you get a bundle of smaller cash notes as the cash register has larger notes temoved for robbery security, plus a whole handful of change. Card payment no issue what it costs, charged is whatever it is. I suspect many people hardly bother even to look at the prices and what is actually spent on all those smaller card charges. Maybe even annoyed at month end by all the many small charges accumulated, but soon go on month after month no changes to spending. You see that snack or smaller item and just charge it on the card, spending out if mind. Secondly: TIPPING, with constant tipping, now so ubiquitous it is automated as significant percent, even offering to increase to seeming rediculous tips. So knowing what a meal, service, purchase costs before commiting is impossible. Hard to know if cash on hand versus expected restaurant cost is too much gamble. With cards the final cost is irrelevant at the instant, only end of month budget. But ease of adding default, often too significant tips, and now even tips in instances tips are inappropriate, now are becoming so standard to be added like a new tax on every transaction. Most card users are not even aware how much of the bill is Tips. Another Card topic is CREDIT vs DEBIT. IN Europe Credit cards are nearly absent Debit cards drawing payment immediately from account balance is almost only choice, except Diners, AMEX, Thomas Cook. Most banks no option. In Australia Credit cards remain common, though many people go to Debit cards, to avoid running cost up to level they can not pay in the interest free timing, getting further and further in high interest charged debt. For those able to pay full balance Credit of up to 55 days is fantastic though some have started reducing free time to 40 days, so a statement at end of month is due 2 weeks earlier than before. Cash advances on Credit card accrue interest from day of taking cash, while debit comes from existing account immediately so never interest payable. So many Credit card users take advantage of drawing cash at supermarket checkout, you get cash but not as an cash advance, just part of grocery bill. The supermarket gets rid of cash accumulated from shoppers purchases,meaning they have far less money to send to the banks by armoured car services, and reduced cash on site reducing robbery potential. Not I unusual for a dhopper with say $300 groceries, adding $200 cash drawn out at the cash register.

School uniforms were bought in for Aussie's was for safety so they know who is from that School and while you're child is wearing the uniform out of school is still representing the school they are in and can still get consequences if they do anything wrong from the school for still having their uniform on instead of going home and getting changed I'm not sure if that still happens though I grew up without uniforms but my children did and for primary school I got most of the uniforms from the school otherwise it cost to much to keep up with them growing I got them cheap through the tuckshop

School uniforms within each state have, for each schoo,l a variety of two tone colours or shades of the same colours. It's amazing the amoht of individual colur pairings that are never repeated across the city and suburban areas. eg. White and every shade of blue from navy thru to turquoise. Then again with black or any other colour for the base and the school picks the blues or any other shade of another colour for creating the two toning. Also a huge variety of clothing to choose. Pants: boys micro fibre, cargo, track, shorts. girls have all same as boys plus summer dress, skirt, skort, winter tunic. Tops: boys and girls, polo shirt, micro fibre zip up wind cheater, track top jumper (sweater), track hoodie jacket. Wear whatever shoes you like as some kids need foot support trainers, as long all are closed shoes. There really is no brand rivalry in the culture here, unless it is the anti any brand culture (big corporations making money out of people with over priced products exploiting overseas sweat shop labour..and all that.) Some just ignore it though and take the casual joking ' Shame! " ribbing they get. It's a personal choice basically. Congrats on babe btw👍

School uniforms in Australia had to be from the same supplier, otherwise the colour or look would not match. Plus some uniforms are too distinct and no other company makes the pattern ot design. The only thing that you could get away with is shoes...but they had to match as close as possible to a certain style and colour...so there really wasn't many choices to boast about.

School uniforms in Australia are mandatory. But also each school has spares for those having trouble affording them. Also we have school fees . But all of this is partially covered or offset would be a better word by goverment subsidies for the lower income bracket . Usually nearly covering uniforms at least each year.
@artistjoh

Schools usually specify the uniform and which shops sell it. They tend to not necessarily be the cheapest options, but they are generally based on reasonable costs (so even the poorer families can buy the uniform,) durability, etc, so there is no noticeable brand differences between student's uniforms. While there is more choice in other school necessities, there still is a lot of standardization because big stores offer stationery kits that have the same basics in them. Computers can vary, but my kids went to a high school that provided every student with an iPad, but different schools will do different things on that sort of thing.

It's so sad that your minds went straight to school shootings any having to identify your kids by what they wear. Growing up in Sydney, I loved not having to think about what to wear every day. Uniform not only puts all the kids on an even playing field, it creates a sense of belonging. Glad school shootings aren't a thing anywhere else in the world, but in Australia, it'd be pretty easy to identify someone foreign to the school or carrying weapons, because THEY'D stand out amongst the students 💁🏽‍♀️ There are varying levels of how strict the high school uniforms are, but most are fairly lax and enforce the wearing of a standard collared shirt, pants/skirt, school sweater/jacket, school tie, black leather school shoes. Some schools will dictate skirt lengths (eg. Catholic schools might enforce skirts to the knees or longer) and haircuts (eg. some schools may not allow mullets or boys having long hair), but most kids who don't subscribe to a religion go to co-ed state schools that aren't as rigid. We were still able to express our individuality by how we wore our hair, what music we listened to, who we hung out with. Watching American TV, I was glad for uniforms, as the poor kids in those shows always seemed to get picked on for how they looked/dressed.
