SA State Nomination 190 and 491 Visas open for 2023-24
South Australia offers many opportunities across various streams in its skilled migration program. With 503 occupations listed on the SA List, let's delve into the streams and their respective criteria:
1. South Australian Graduates: This stream caters to graduates who have been residing in South Australia for at least the last 12 months and have been employed full-time (at least 30 hours per week) for the last 6 months.
2. Working in South Australia: Similar to the SA Graduates stream, this option requires candidates to have been living in South Australia for the last year and engaged in full-time employment for the last six months.
3. Highly Skilled and Talented: This stream is open to individuals from South Australia, interstate, or overseas. There are special considerations for those with an employer in SA with a turnover exceeding 4 million, as well as applicants with experience in Hi-Tech/Digital, Defence/Space, or the high-demand industry sectors.
4. Offshore: South Australia assesses offshore candidates based on merit within their nominated occupation. Factors like skilled employment years, English language proficiency, and EOI points play a crucial role.
Outer Regional
It's essential to note that the Outer Regional Stream has been removed, which may disappoint those who relocated to regional SA in pursuit of a visa.
Additionally, the Offshore stream is only open for selected occupations, with priority given to specialists in various fields, including medical professionals, engineers, and ICT experts.
Understanding the Process
The application process now involves a Registration of Interest (ROI) for all streams. Priority factors vary for SA graduates and may include factors like age, skilled employment experience in South Australia, and occupation sectors like Health and Medical Sciences, Trades and Construction, Early Childhood and Teaching, Digital Technology, Food and Agribusiness, Creative Industries, Tourism and Hospitality, as well as high-demand areas like Hi-Tech/Digital, Green Energy/Hydrogen, Defence/Space/Cyber Security, Advanced Manufacturing, and Health and Life Sciences.
The ROI system introduces a degree of uncertainty, as candidates submit their interest and await invitations. It's essential to have contingency plans in place, especially considering the competitive landscape. Employer-sponsored visas may be a viable alternative.
We'll be providing more updates in the coming days, delving deeper into SA's criteria and specific occupations. Follow us for all the latest details, insights, and opportunities on your South Australian skilled migration journey.

Can you please confirm that there is requirement of ROI for offshore stream? Because either I am reading it incorrectly on SA website, or you have mistakenly said that ROI is required for offshore as well. Also there is no option for any other occupation on skilled and business migration portal except Digital & Hi tech and Defence Industry.
@jimmyvalarezo3139
Hi, thanks for the video. As for Highly Skilled Talented, there is an option to apply if we have experience in the Hi-Tech sector (renewable energy), Does it mean we don't need to be working in the occupation in SA, even if we are living there? ... In this case, Can we claim points for living in SA?
@saliherayokan522
What happened to "High Performing Graduate" stream? 😐
@shanosummesteros9563
South Australia is the only state with a 30 hr requirement, all other states refer to immigration/home affairs which have a 20 hr requirement. South Australia is out of line here and they won't even take calls about it - they tell you to call immigration and immigration says they can't control what the states do. But visas are federal.
@uzishah2428
How about community workers offshore as I have applied and visa application submitted for last 3 yrs
@MrVini099
Hi Chris and team, thank you for your valuable updates. Currently I’m waiting for my visa grant from SA past from 8 month, as they opened now what would be the probability of getting an invite. Any insights will be helpful?
@hanmix1982
no ROI for offshore applicants except for highly skilled migrants stream
@Gwen714
I’m a flight attendant and it shows it’s closed for offshore… if I apply will they consider when they later need it or should I not apply. Thank you for the info
@niloshaperera797
Hi, may I pls know if there is an age restriction for the 887 visa?
@karkorboss2429
Hello Sir, I have a question,
@BluePandaa284
I am confused about one thing. being full time for the last 6 months and working full time now or working for 6 months (I work part time but soon I will be full time). If the 2nd meaning is correct, I can apply as soon as I am full time. But if the 1st meaning is full time, I can apply in my 6th month.
@sincyk.t1157
Is it still open? Could you please confirm
@user-hd1rd4ub1u
Hi, my occupation is Engineering Technologist and I am living working outside Australia; Can you please advise me whether am I applicable for South Australia and NSW? Your response will be highly appreciated with thanks.
@subina6024
Sir. Does the office consider running age or completed age. Eg. A person born on 30th March 1980 can wait uptill when? Is it 29th March 2024 or 29th March 2025? Thanks in advance.
@OshoLee
Applications for 190/491 state nomination are closed for direct submissions and can ONLY be submitted via an invitation from Skilled & Business Migration
@rajibbhowmik4732
I am an Industrial Pharmacist, submitted EOI from offshore with 80 & 70 points for 491 & 190 visa. But when i went for submitting ROI, i couldn’t. It shows that for Offshore candidates, no ROI is required. They will provide nominations based on EOI. Is that correct or is there any loopholes? Please answer...
@ogxxl5292
