Hi Chris I have a question , I have claimed 9 years of exoerience during 10 years ago whihc has accepted by assessing authority and a year during these years I didn't claim any work experience.Which means, I have already gained 15 points from skill select. Now, after 10th of years period I have claimed a year of work experience . So , It means, I have totally almost 10 years of work experience in the 11 years past . Will non-IT, medical, and education sectors like Marketing get an invite this financial year at 75-85 points for a 491 offshore from NSW, VIC, SA, or even ACT? It's so frustrating that even with 12 EOI lodged between two different occupations in the pool but not a single invite.

I have lodged an EOI for a WA state nominated 190 visa but I am concerned I have incorrectly claimed employment points. Should I only claim for the amount of time awarded to me through my positive skills assessment or can I claim all of my work experience that is highly relevant even if VETASSES deducted aprox. 1 year from my early work experience? The difference would equate to 85 vs 90 points.

Hi Chris. I got the skill assessment from Engineers Australia for the occupation 313214 Telecommunications Technical Officer or Technologist. Hi please for scenerio where one worked as a customer service manager person but the name is different and did not capture it as customer service manager. This person has 8years of banking experience in that capacity and has obtained an MBA in 2017. Please I want to know the following: 1. Will the MBA be used for the Assessment? 2. Hi Tamanna, Thanks for your question. You get 15 points for a Bachelor or Masters, so you do not get any extra point, but you do get points. A little disappointing and maybe a change to the points system in the next year or so will give Master points. Also, for a PhD you only get 20 points, so 5 points more than a Bachelor, but it takes 4 extra years. That makes no sense really. I hope this is helpful. I'm from India I have completed by Btech in engineering, and got my skill assesd by engineers australia by CDR method, while point calculation for "Educational Qualifications" which option I should choose 1. At least a bachelor degree from an Australian educational institution or at least a bachelor qualification, from another educational institution that is of a recognised standard OR 2. Attained a qualification or award recognised by the relevant assessing authority of your nominated skilled occupation as being suitable for that occupation

Employment Applicants can claim points for employment in their nominated skilled occupation or a closely related skilled occupation in the 10 years immediately preceding the date of the invitation to apply for the visa

It does not necessarily need to be your current job but it must be closely related or nominated skilled occupation. This only applies for points test calculation. Please be aware that each state or territory has different requirement on employment and you need to follow the requirement. Thanks WVl

@@WorkVisaLawyers Thanks for the info. I have valid skills assessment in my nominated occupation (work experience 2011-2017), but unemployed since 2018 after my child is born. So as long as my employment were in my nominated occupation in the past 10 years immediately preceding the date of invitation, I’m good to claim points after the deemed skilled date as per my skills assessment? For Victoria, noted that onshore or offshore applicant applying for subclass 190 visa nomination are not required to be working in the nominated occupation. Thanks!

I’m a qualified complementary medical practitioner and teacher I’m also a qualified mental health and addiction councillor I have a fiancée in WA I spent 24 years of my life in Australia and did my education but I had to return to the Uk to look after a sick family member but because I’m over the age of 50 I’m not entitled to a works visa this is disgusting I’ve even applied for a student visa and I’ve had nothing but trouble even though I was accepted by the college it’s disgusting that someone like myself who is highly qualified and a teacher in the complementary medical field

Hi Chris- We are planning to do EOI for 190/491 visa and my wife qualified Australian pharmacist exam KAPS. She will be the primary applicant and I will be the dependent one. My occupation is developer programmer/software engineer.. Comes under Medium Long Term (MLTSSL) and pharmacist(Retail and hospital) comes under SOTSSL. Can we claim my experience point in this case since we are in different occupation list but it’s there in the lists

Hi, Arun. If you are applying 491/190, partner with competent English and skills assessment from MLTSSL or STSOL should be able to get +10 points. Hello, I am from offshore and I applied for ACT region under 491 category (ANZSCO: 261112 Systems Analyst) in July 2022. I have 70 points + 15 regional points for 491 = 85 points. What are the chances of getting selected in draw for EOI & approximately how much time it would take? I am worried as it has been nearly six months without any update. Thank you for your help in advance.
