Great idea John. Not just the podcast idea but try and get the makers onto your boat and get them to fish their lures the way they design them to be fished 👍. As someone who lives in the ‘burbs’, you see racks and racks of lures in shops, but to learn how they’re supposed to be fished would be next level. Looking forward to your future content John, cheers
Hi John this was outstanding to see you enjoying your time at the expo again so much to learn from you as you had the opportunity to share your knowledge with the people at the first stand . As you moved on around taking to other lure markets. Maurice seems to come up with new design each year. It would be wonderful for you to have many of the lure makers available to interview in person to pass on the knowledge to help all other fishermen. Many thanks for sending so much time to allow us to see so many lures made bye Australian's. Kind regards john Dickson
Absolutely loved this John. Really opened my eyes to a whole new fishing world. I never knew the Australian hand made lure market was so damn big!! Really wanna buy some of these lures and give them a try👌🏼
I was gutted not to get to the expo, so I was so pleased you took us all along with you. Great idea chatting with some lure makers, podcast, videos or both, that’s right up my street.
Thanks John, if you hadn’t advertised the Lure Expo in your video last week, I wouldn’t of known it was on. So many lures on display. Great day can’t wait until next year.
Sometimes I think of chucking on some thermals and going Cod fishing just for an excuse to buy some crazy lures. Then i see Videos of people chipping ice off the cast deck and i come to my senses.
I bought $1000 worth of lures for my first Cod session. 1 degree at 3:30 in the morning. -3 degrees with wind chill. But I did catch two metries so it’s well worth it. The lures are amazing. Do it!!
Nice positive community JC...definitely. Artisan's of the higher order/nature no doubt..just listening to olè mate with the Chatterbaits was awesome.. i dont go near fresh anymore cause getting a bite on fakeys for me is near impossible & havent touched a stinky bait in 3yrs..sounds like i was way WAAY off the mark & 'dialled right in' I comprehendaì...thats my language .!😉 With the animated style Aussie lure makers have,I used to think that they werent very good artist & their dog must of drawn the eyes on for them or somethin...and I always since i was a kid, thought Bush or Country for the Barra & ozzy natives etc. They where Freshwater lures am I right ? How wrong I am...they fish those spots & know what the fish r biting on even if it looks like grandpa carved a toy for Uncle when he was 7.....BUUUT I'd give those Bug Chubbys a go in a SECOND...straight up. The intro one & the black one @ the end. They are fiiiiiine. Keep doing you Johnny..🙏🏽
Great job John so many great crafted lures. Information so good about lure makers. maybe do some vids on visiting these lure makers and tap into thee ideas great stuff .
Credit to yourself and your youtube channel and all the great stuff you do for the fishing industry. Was a huge turnout and great to meet you. I can see you just foam over every aspect of it and are very good at explaining your passion.
Loving the enthusiasm John! I can understand why! I would be the exact same way if I was walking around there, I’m an absolute sucker when it comes to any lure Aussie made. I’m hoping to make it next year and maybe bring the young fella with me as well, maybe my daughter as well but she’s still quite young. Thank you for sharing with everyone one mate, I’ve learnt a lot and working in a fishing store I speak to people weekly that mention your videos.
Thanks for sharing John as this wasn't in my backyard, would love to see more of the lure makers and their recommendations of how to use them plus support the locals.
Yes John that concept of podcast interviews with the lure makers would be great. Some ideas Why or what got you started? Quick process from idea to finished product What a lure makers creative space looks like How to use there particular lures? The difference between the lures and benefits So many different lure makers young and older, cross section of styles Legends like Morry kneebone and New faces like liprip lures
Great video John! Very interesting, thanks for your efforts to bring this info to us, outstanding! You’re on the right track with a podcast mate, top idea can’t wait to listen in!
Great video John and such a good expo , can’t wait to try all the new lures out !! I think a video or podcast featuring lure makers and their process and suggested fishing methods is a great idea , some of the lures I bought will definitely take some working out so advise from the makers that can be referred back to would be perfect 👍
That would be awesome. I've been trying to make lures over the past 6 months and love it. I have seen a lot of bigger hand made lures but would be keen to see smaller handmade bream lures. Also knowing what is available from domestic manufacturers would be great for when you feel like splurging and treating the local fish (or more likely snags) to a nice set of hooks
on board with Joey. have quiet a few of his bass/jack lures. hes making me 3 custom wake baits for cod as well. Duncan from fish head is one special place to visit if u r into the GT big fish world. Jason Ulrich, now thats a name from the past. nice to c Jas still round the fishing world. on board with ur idea mate, give it a whirl.
Gday John, great to catch up while at the show, great video and hope to get mine up in the next day or so, a little bit late but it will be up soon. Cheers and just subbed Brad
Hey Johnny, could you please post up the details of fishing unlimited Australia? I have googled them, but it says the number has been disconnected. Thanks
No footage of the queue to get in! Lol Great displays. Frankly, the show has grown way too big for Fernvale. There just wasnt enough room in there to move at its busiest, which the vid doesnt show of course.
I would definitely follow any sort of podcast type series exploring lures with lure makers. Just not with that Kneller bloke. Heard enough from him already. And he looks like he drinks craft beer.
I've used frequentflash lures (on insta) and think they're great, full through-wire for barra and jacks. I was travelling up north on a barra trip and the maker dropped it off at a servo for me to COD so he definitely helped me out.
Eruch is an absolute legend! I ordered some lures and he didn't get them finished in time before I left for a barra trip. He drove over to his mates house who was coming up to the same dam so he could get them to me. Hopefully one day he starts carving again.
