it only happened because Novak was Injured..I love the Big 3, but lets all be honest, if not for Novak's injury, Novak would be 27 slams now, and Roger would only be 17 slams, Ill be generous, Id give him 2017 Wilmbledon, but he's still 10 slams below Novak.
No matter what the numbers, Federer is the best tennis player of history. His tennis is superclass, is inteligence and beauty. The perfection. This match is an example. I am Spanish, and I love Nadal and I will always want him to win, but... Federer's tennis is perfection, is why the classic tennis is classic, is the way teachers teach tennis. And is just beautiful, you watch Federer playing and you feel some satisfaction that you don't feel with other players. And this match was amazing, both they were playing their best. Beautiful match!!!
@Café Littéraire what are the facts or datas that Rafa should be GOAT? Each of Federer and Djokovic has better stats to be Goats. Rafa is only better in winning Olypics.
@@MrLuciano54 your comment doesn't make any sense. If djokovic wins 30 slams he is the undisputed GOAT. Then how is Roger ahead of him? In sport what matters is winning. What will you do with style, elegance, flair etc if it can't win you matches?
I remember waking up at 3AM to watch this. I could not believe the quality of this match. Every shot was competitive, there was no letting off the gas for either one. It was the greatest heavy weight battle I have ever seen. Nadal played hard courts like I never seen him play before. This was his greatest hard court performance. But Federer was simply amazing in his comeback and it took five sets to subdue his rival. His backhand was no longer his weakness. He stopped running around it and started to just pound away in the last set. He was down a game and with nothing to lose, he unleashed the beast. Five games in a row against his nemesis to seal the win. Federer will always be the GOAT simply because he is the most gifted player the world has ever seen, even Rod Laver said Fed is the greatest player regardless of who wins more majors. And when the pressure to win was off his back in this match, he played without a care in world. You can see the relaxed look on his face like no other of his slam finals. I loved the French commentary. They seemed so excited at every point. Screaming and shouting like kids, unlike any Frenchmen I know. Wonderful.
Match summary: 1) Incredible defense of Federer. 2) Incredible attacks from Federer. What a great game from the Swiss. Bravo giant Magic Federer!! ✨👍😍👌✨
Match summary no.2: opposite to what had happened in the previous 13 years of rivalry, for the first time Federer's backhand collapses Nadal's forehand, causing a rupture in the spacetime continuum.

Health Approach: sorry, but the version of Fed Novak beat wasn't this one. His 2017 backhand has been AWOL since early 2018 and some of his confidence has gone with it.
(j'attendais ce 18eme GC depuis si longtemps ) ♥♥RF FOR EVER / FEDAL♥♥
Well... legends you know ? This game was just a reminder of how great Nadal and Federer are in Tennis. Sad will be the day these Champs will retire from the game...
Also, this, AO 2012 F and W 2018 SF are other Rafa's GS that he choked away and they are still painful memories as a fan. Its one thing getting blasted like AO 2019 F which was a lesson from Prof. Nole and tight near victories like that.
@@Dark_Voice That were really painful losses as a Rafa fan. The Wimbledon final 2019 with 2 Championship points at 40:15 and your own serve will stay for me the most painful loss as a Roger fan.
@@Spartacus1975 :yes and this is prove why is Djokovic mentalty thouger opponent ever!!Aus open 2012..2020!! Wimbeldon 2014.15..18..19 Us open 2010 and 11 semi final and 2015 finals!! you have opponent like Nadal and Federer and whole stadium against him and still WON!!
Thanks for uploading! Most English commentators were surprisingly emotionless during this match, but these French commentators are far more enthusiastic (which I prefer).
I disagree. While I normally don't like Fowler - as he's a huge Nadal homer and it shines through in a greasy fashion throughout his commentary - he together with both McEnroe's make for intelligent dialogue where each guy chimes in at the right time. They also know when to amp it up for dramatic effect. These French guys are too dramatic, too often, and usually just repeat themselves.
While I'm not a huge fan of Nadal's style of play, can't help but appreciate his brilliance and record. These two have produced extraordinary matches, against each other or not,. for so long. Watched this 'live' on TV as I live in Sydney. Truly astounding contest. In fact the sort of match where it's sad in a sense one of them had to 'lose'.
Nadal's girlfriend's facial expression during the last set was priceless lol. When Federer plays with that level of speed and precision in the final set, she knew Nadal already lost the match 😂
Also Federer hit more high top spin defense deep middle of court and less slice. Nadal couldn't hit angles that well and his forehand grip makes it tougher to hit winners from high balls.
35 mins highlights on a RF match is never enough !! Let alone the greatest tennis match there has ever been played...RF stands alone not alone as the the greatest tennis player that will ever be but the greatest sportsman that will ever be

To be fair Nadal was sloppy and kept going back to his backhand, he was too slow to adjust. Perfect example is in the 5th set when Nadal was up 3-2, so many soft shots straight back to his backhand.
This is one ilike watching. Others, fed vs roddick, fed vs blake, fed vs agassi, fed vs sampras, etc. fed’s variety of shots, fantastic backhand, graceful movement, not grunting , good serve... beautiful to watch.
One thing that is certain is that however Nadal has usually succeded against Roger with his forehand, he does not have much of a plan B. If attacking Federer's backhand doesn't work, there's not much Nadal can do (I don't mean he has no chance, but that then Roger generally dominates the game). In this match (and in this AO in gral.) Roger's backhand was a whole new level of insanity.
This version of Federer is nothing special. His success was due to low competition or not competition at all, not sure what you prefer more. The only reason Fed won here is because Nadal simply doesn't have the game on hard courts anymore, but he would still have crucified him on clay if Fed hadn't skipped it. His game didn't really change that much since 2015 when he was probably playing tennis of his life, but got destroyed by Nole in almost every important match they played. Just look at 2018 final, a clown like cilic, who is just too weak mentally ( even weaker than Fed), can't move for shit and most importantly is utterly incapable of returning a serve, should have won if he hadn't choked. 2013 Nadal would murder this Fed on hard courts let alone 2015 Djoko, who is simply unplayable on slower/medium hard courts. Federer never ever really dominated hard courts, maybe only extremely fast/low bouncing courts like Cincinnati. Djokovic is simply the most complete player ever. He can adjust to any fucking conditions and the word "bad matchup" simply doesn't exist for him. If you had to choose a player to play for your life, who would you choose? Federer, who is so mentally fragile that he can be 2:0 and 5:0 and still lose a match, who is usually countered by heavy topspin, high bouncing balls, slower courts, won't even talk about clay etc. On the other hand you have Djokovic, who is simply unplayable; he has all the freaking shots against any player you name on ANY surface. Djokovic's mentality is something to behold, something Federer never ever had.
+Simon Cowell fed owned Nadal the last five times.... Feds had lots of competition, Novak's far from the complete player as he's super defensive can't attack for shit... Get the federer if 2004/2007 v these guys, on hard court he flogs them.... Novak's got twelve slams and will never catch fed
I mean... that makes no sense. Let the numbers speak for themselves. You're obviously a huge fan of Djokovic, no disrespect, but ALL of Fed's stats beat his.
Yes, phenomenal! And you say it the same in French. These two announcers love tennis, and they could not believe the high tennis level. I think this is best, highest quality final between Roger and Rafa. The tennis was out of this world.
Interesting stat, 1st time Federer beat Nadal in a Grand Slam other than Wimbledon. Roger's net play was incredible and so many half volley winners..incredible level.
