This was the final match of the of the qualifiers of the 1990 Wold Cup. DDR needed only a draw to qualify to the World Cup but they lost 3 to 0. Respect for Matthias Summer and Ulf Kirsten.

Well that's the thing with this match: it was post-Berlin wall fall and thus the west coming east, but just before reunification. Quite an odd point in history.
Or maybe it's simply that the official East German kit was always Adidas? Yes they had their own sporting kit for clubs and such, but on the international level, like the Olympics, they wore Adidas.

Seit mitte der 70 iger durfte zur DDR Nationalhymne nicht mehr Mitgesungen werden. Wurde damals so in der DDr beschlossen. Hat glaub was mit der Textpasage "Deutschland einig Vaterland zu tun). Wurde ja auch so nie von der damaligen DDR Regierung nie angestrebt. Also durften die Spieler ned mitsingen ob wohl einge sicher gewollt hätten
Sven Rohrbach Die Führung der DDR Wüste genau , das sie in einem demokratischen Staat, bei dem die Macht tatsächlich vom Volk gewählt wird, nicht mehr zu melden hat. Daher das Mitsing Verbot.
Dieses "Mitsingverbot" bei Auferstanden aus Ruinen galt in der DDR, wie Sven Rohrbach bereits angedeutet hat, seit 1972 und zwar für alle, vom Generalsekretär des ZK der SED bis zum letzten Hilfsarbeiter der Republik. 1990 wäre man fürs Mitsingen sicher nicht mehr belangt worden, aber da hatte sowieso keiner mehr Interesse daran, bei diesem Musikstück mitzuträllern.
