If the VCI updates successfully and the unit does not connect to any vehicles, it's likely that either the main cable of the main board is faulty. Replacing the cable is cheap and easy, but the main board would have to be done by an Autel Agent.
Hello, Yes you will need a Subscription to update CAR BRANDS. But the VCI Firmware Update does not, and the MX808 does not require continuous licensing in order to operate. The MX808 will still use the Installed software "out of license" and when a license is purchased you will be able to update to the latest software regardless of the amount of time between updates.
hi you know I did all that procedure exactly the same but when I returned to the main menu I lost the connection with the car and a message appears that says decoding failed. what do you think i can do?
I suggest trying abother vehicle, or I have made a OBD2 plug to to this on my office desk. Just cut out an OBD2 socket froma wrecked car and then found a cheap 12V power supply. Earth pins 4 & 5, 12V to pin 16 and then power up the VCI this way.
If your unit does not have a specific car brand (eg. Tesla) then it cannot be added. The MX808 is a basic tool sold at a lower price point. To get more car brands and better diagnostic ability you need to buy a better model like the newly released MS906PRO
The VCI “Vehicle Communication Interface” Module is how the Scantool talks to the Vehicle. Sometimes either the Scantools software requires a change in how this communication is done and sometimes it’s a new vehicle that has a different method. Updating the VCI FirmWare ensures the communication between the two continues.
In New Zealand we currently offer the MX808 with Free "life of tool" software licencing but this may not be the same in other countries. Also we cannot and will not sell to customers outside of our catchment area (New Zealand and some Pacific Islands).
