Hey guys. I'm a recent subscriber of your channel. I've been a mechanic for over twenty years. I've pretty much done everything on cars except paint. Your videos have been a huge help in learning how to do this stuff properly. I have a 99 Jeep Wrangler Sahara, Forest green metallic (PG8) I want to do my first full paint job on. I've picked up a lot of body tools, and guns. I picked up a Matco hvlp 1.3 for a killer deal. Haven't used it yet, so I hope it's decent. We'll see how things go. Keep up the great content. Keeping it simple is what I love most!

40+ years ago, early in my electrical apprenticeship, I decided to take some welding classes. After two terms I learned one thing…to always hire my welding done. At this stage of my life I have way more time than money so decided to “to fix” the damaged clear coat on our old desert car. You make this stuff look easy, but I’m having (bad) memories of those welding classes. :-)))

This is a great video!... you have detailed it so well!... I've always wondered how to lay on base coat.. you seem to like to lay it on fairly wet.. this painting thing is not child's play.. it really takes a lot of talent and it seems you're pretty good at it 👍.. it's a real art and as nasty as it can be sometimes it is the ultimate reward... always keep learnin'.. good job! 😀

Your videos are so great! Much appreciated. I've painted cars....but it was probably 25 years ago...so mostly relied on advice from one guy....WAY before RU-vid had so many talented folks on it. Also, technology has changed. So...I have a question. I have a 14 year old Toyota with 130K miles on it. It's in pretty good shape...but has some minor imperfections, and I want to paint it, because that engine has a good 10 years left in it. I'd like the body to be protected. I plan to do a Kirker single-stage acrylic urethane, and paint the entire car. I've managed to get all the tiny "dents" perfect by using your incredible videos as a guide. I'm wondering if you've done a video about how to prep a car to do an overall single-stage paintjob....suggested materials, techniques, etc. I'm obviously a "noob." My apologies for not knowing much.....
@GarageNoise
@GarageNoise 3 месяца назад
The prep is pretty much the same for single stage as it is for base coat/ clear coat, with one exception, you can spray over a 320 scratch with single stage. No video's on single stage but one tip put you first coat on lite let it flash and the spray it how you want it to look. Single stage sprays like clear but a bit thinner.

Do you use elastifiers in your clear coats on plastic parts? I painted my cars bumper last summer (big thanks to your channel for that, I wouldn't have had courage to DIY it by myself. It came out way better than what i was afraid of) and when I was washing it this spring I noticed that there was a small spider web crack in the clear coat. Something obviously deformed/pressed slightly into the bumper and cracked the clear over the winter.

Hey, I have been searching everywhere for a simple step-by-step guide from the start of painting an old 1994 Ford f150. For a beginner like me, the first thing I need is steps. I have small details figured out, but the order minus small information for now. Do I sand all the paint to bare metal first? Then fix every dent and fill with bondo? than sand the body (with the correct grit) of course?, Than primer? Then what, sand more? Or do base paint? Then sand again, etc. If someone can give me the simplest list of step by step without all the details, I would appreciate it so much. Just a simple 1-10 order list. Thank you

@@GarageNoise using epoxy mixed to sealer lays great and seals better than urethane

Hi! What kind of air compressor did you use for painting. Tank size and cfm?
@GarageNoise
@GarageNoise 5 месяцев назад
Mine is an ingersoll rand I think it's a 60 gallon makes about 16cfm. Puchased it at tractor supply for about $1200 I haven't had any issues with it

@@GarageNoise Porphis gun can do a full respray with this compressor without air dropping?
@GarageNoise
@GarageNoise 5 месяцев назад
@@Killer-lo3ig oh yeah, absolutely. It consumes 10.5 cfm so it not a lvlp but also not an air hog.

Don't know if I should get a porphis 717 or porphis 715

I don't know enough about the 717. I know it may have the split tip and I sprayed withth the 629 with the split tip and I like the 715 better. Honestly I think you can a gun that sprays better or is easier to use than this 715.

The 717 works well on lower pressures than the 715, uses less material and is slower as you would expect from a split tip. Both impressive finishes. I have the VS 1.3 and 1.4 and the MP 1.3. I just ordered the MP 1.4. Other than the tip nozzle air cap sets the 717 and 715 seem to be the same gun. Don’t know about longevity yet but as far as effortless finish and ease of use goes let’s put it this way, I have found myself reaching for them over my high end guns.

Once again simple stupid instructions a 6 year old can understand. Great job! The only thing I do not understand is the sealant process? In S.A we normally would use spray filler or the new version which is called ms primer. I got to go google paint sealant in S.A.....
