This is awesome! I've made so many improvements on my Sup IIIs. New crown gears, brass brushes, and smaller diameter tires to get the magnets closer to the track. I've even stacked neodymium mags on top of the factory magnets. This is a GREAT tip. Please keep sending tips to upgrade these aesthetically beautiful but functionally flawed cars.
Terry over at HCS makes a pretty good case for the S-IIIs having bad gear mesh out of the package. Throwing on a better quality pin and crown really helps. Also need to check armature alignment in these to be sure it's not binding. Easy to check if you hook up power to the chassis and flex it front to back while you listen to the pitch of the motor.
Thanks Ralph, all good suggestions that I am sure would help the Super III. I don't really plan to run any other than this one that was given to me. The arm in mine does get hot pretty quickly so being out of alignment could be possible though the one i have feels pretty smooth and the gear mesh seems OK, mine actually runs decent as long as you don't crash and make that clip pop off....lol
I did not have any problems with the gears, I believe they fixed that a while ago. The biggest problem I had was the clip the holds the rear armature bushing in place kept coming off even on a minor crash, the clip is a very poor design that barely stays on.@@tommydolce74
No 1:1 full size car has downforce like that, probably not even an F1 car. Now i know how to push out & remove those silly traction mags to have more realistic driving.
