Thanx for the video👍. I bought the streetwise scanner from euro car parts a few days ago for £19.99 returned it on same day got refund. It couldn't read any codes on my audi. I had a fault code reading by my garage showing MAF sensor. I replaced the parts myself, and wanted a scan tool to clear the code, unfortunately the scan tool was for cars from 2004 onwards, my was a 2001 car so it couldn't read any fault codes
Thanks for the review. I was debating whether to buy one of these Aldi scanners to try but I don't think I'll bother now. I guess you get what you pay for.
Not a problem. I was hoping it would do slightly better than it did but it wasn't to be. I may stumble across one worth mentioning at some point and I'll be sure to let people know about it.
It has IM menu use the scroll button to view the status misfire fuel ccm, cat hcm evao 2 air A/C 025 ; 02 sensors monitor H025 02 sensor heater monitor EGR EGR system monitor. Now the instructions are not very clear. But it may be you have to scan each one separately. But one has to remember it is not one of the expensive readers. But it will read a fault when the engine management light is activated. Unlike the Snap on that you can get warnings before the engine management light comes on. But the question remains .If the list of faults the snap on gave and eventually did bring on the engine management light and it remains on. Would both find the same codes at that point. But like I said the cheap one is for when the engine management light is on . Something to consider But remember it is only a generic code reader .Did you do part 2 as yet.
If glow plug and EGR fault codes are too complex for it then it doesn't really work does it. I can understand it not reading the ECU internal faults or the failed communication to body control unit but glow plugs are fitted to all diesel vehicles and EGR valves are fitted to about 90% of vehicles so it should be reading these faults without issue.
@@Papa77sGarage talking pish it dose work for EGR just done it it took seconds to find fault gave me the codes and after I took out EGR and cleaned it reset the engine light ( codes p0409 EGR flow sensor circuit p0403 EGR flow circuit malfunction
@@trumpstinyhands what instruction would that be? It's pretty self explanatory, plug it in, let it detect the protocol used, select read codes, read the codes, fix the fault, clear codes and repeat.
was wanting odb reader since I got a car a couple of months ago and I know it failed MOT a year earlier due to MIL which then was cleared. Just saw this reader at ALDI today so grabbed it from the shelf and went online to check some reviews - thanks for posting yours and testing it quite comprehensively. not sure now if I can be even bothered to plug it in, I might as well take it back to the store tomorrow... edit: meant to ask, did you do the second part of the video where you test the reader on the actual faults?
I bought one of the Aldi ones about 2 years ago but never used it, But yesterday i got a EML on the dash, So i came on here to find out how to use it, But before i got to use it, The EML went out on its own and stayed out, Why would this be ???
It happens sometimes. When the key is turned off most control modules 'go to sleep' after a period of time. if the fault is intermittent the ECU may not detect it when it is next powered up. You may still have a fault code stored because the EML has been on.
