Mental Funeral remains my fave, but Headless Ritual was absolutely killer, as were the various EPs, last year's Morbidity Triumphant and now this one! I loved everything they've done... well except Shitfun 😅
Death Metal has its fair share of bands 30+ years old still putting out great music. Immolation, Incantation, Gorguts and Cannibal Corpse all come to mind.
This is metal album of the year for me. Their previous one was already very good, but this one is a masterpiece of death metal. It's blasting, it's groovy and it sounds sick and truly miasmic, everything you ever wanted from Autopsy is here and some more (putrid bass lines are ecstatic). My favorite songs are Well of Entrails, Bones to the Wolves and, of course, Ashes, Organs, Blood and Crypts. Epic release at the end of the year.
Gotta say when it comes to anything with guitar you're always 100% spot on. Love your reviews, you're like that smart kid in class who everyone comes to for help.
its a shame there aren't any good mainstream metal bands right now, but the hard stuff is enough for me. plus we get plenty of it, so we'll never get bored
@@MisterBrimm i meant it more as there not being any good/popular bands that aren't either death or black metal. for example, system of a down. they're pretty mainstream all things considered and they made some of the best albums of the 2000s when they were at their peak. but in recent years there have been pretty much zero metals bands that have had the same level of passion and have gotten the same amount of attention. "normal" metal isn't really made all that much anymore and while i think its great that these genres get to evolve more and more with time, i also think its a shame that there wont be new great music that bring new listeners in like the bands of the 2000s. but yeah thats my take on that whole thing
@@Black-rw4ogWell there isn't a clear gateway band to metal like Tool or whatever, I would say that because there's so much music there's just way more entry points into the genre, so you see a lot of bands reach a particular level of prestige, like Opeth, and I am perfectly okay with that because those bands tend to be the best.
This new Autopsy album is so damn good, the production is fantastic, the vocals sound better than they have ever been. The riffs almost take on a blackened hardcore edge at times. 8/10 is a fair score.
Your taste in metal is so specific that it's always great to see a review. You always have something interesting to say on the sound for years now, so I know where the differences are with taste.

He used to be in Real Life, the band famous for their hit single "Send Me An Angel" that GUNSHIP recently covered on the deluxe edition of their new album UNICORN, he has 15 LP's but remains sadly unknown. These guys are always innovative yet consistent with death metal standards. Brutal and so so talented with thier instruments! Heaps of fun too!! Bow down and respect the Pure Death Metal that Autopsy brings!!!
