Loved the chatty vibe of this. Feels like you’ve invited us around for a cup of tea to talk crafts - yes please!

loooooveeee the warm yelow jumper with all the shirt options you showed 💛 i've been binge watching this show called Shetland, and now my brain is in this mix of obsessing over knits, the scottish isles and anything cosy. Thanks for sharing 🪄

I love that jumper too! I think it's the one I'm most excited about, but trying to finish off some other ones first I think. That programme sounds perfect! I'll have to check it out 😊

This really made me smile - I always tell people that my greatest fashion influence as a teenager was Thomas Hardy! Those three skeins could make a nice cowl or small shawl - or how about a hood? Not sure if you are on Ravelry or not but lots of hood patterns there. Really enjoyed your comments about the knitting and sewing community - I have lots of lovely friends but none of them knit or sew - it can be a little lonely and it can make you can feel a bit of an oddity. Looking forward to seeing your makes but you are completely right about not giving yourself hard deadlines; I imagine that with a social media profile you feel the need to have lots of things to 'show' - ultimately knitting and sewing should be peaceful and relaxing activities.

Thanks so much for this lovely comment. I hadn't thought about a hood, that's a really good idea! I'll have a look on ravelry. It was years before I made any knitting/sewing friends in real life, and I was (and am) so grateful for a lovely online community to share ideas, inspirations and frustrations with 😊 And you're right about the deadlines. Sometimes I feel like I need to be posting more by a certain date, but I've gotten much better in the last year, and also like sharing things I already have, to avoid falling into the trap of only posting new makes! Sometimes I see something I've made in a completely different light as a result, and it gives it a new lease of life 😊

Awww, lovely podcast, your handmade items are stunning and love your ideas for matching your wardrobe pieces. I'm an autumn lady especially as I'm a redhead. So loved your colour palette xx Di xx I'm a crochet and knitter and can sew. I totally understand how you feel about making and craft friends too xx

I LOVE the colors, textures and shapes. Classics never go out of style and scream style. I feel the same about keeping a check on my consumption and actual time to complete the projects for which I’ve made purchases to undertake. I’m glad to have this content to inspire my making.💗

Sorry your comment was sat in a 'needs review' folder for some reason! Thanks so much, I'm glad you enjoyed it 😊 it's tricky sometimes balancing the joy of collecting nice things and thinking of project ideas with avoiding over consumption. I'm trying to be more aware of it and not impulse buy, though with a treat from time to time 😊

Yes to the chat with a friend as I knit. I could listen to you all day. You seem to have enough on the go to keep you busy all autumn 🍁. We could be neighbors, the town over from our farm is Stroud, except I live in Australia 😂. I'm knitting the petiteknits novis cardigan in 12 ply. A labor of love as it's 38°c. Thanks for keeping me company

Thanks Susan 😊 that is a labour of love! Of course, you'll be in spring now, I guess? Funny that you live so close to another Stroud!

I'm very excited to see updates from all of your plans. I am a person with a lot of works in progress at once as well, between work life and life in general I feel I never have enough time in a day. I do love to have options of what type of project I'm working on too. I also agree, as a 31 year old I don't have "friends" other than my partner and child so it's so wonderful having people like you that we can watch and discuss like minded things. I look forward to your future videos! Thank you for sharing with us all ❤

I'm glad you enjoyed it 😊 I wish there was more time to work on projects and finish them, but I do enjoy moving between them and having a variety of WIPs.

Yup, lovely video. Loved listening to your plans and am appreciating the style you’re going for. It reminds me of paintings by an artist called Lucy Amley Bird, church then out and tell me what you think x

Love the longer length video Lorna - gives me an excuse to sit and knit! I’m currently knitting the Sophie shawl in alpakka ull but love the reddy colour of your scarf. Would love to know what you knit with the worsted yarn - I have 2 skeins of bfl and still haven’t settled on what to make with it - the cowl looks like a really good idea 🤎 🧶

Thanks Zoe, glad you liked it! I really like the coel idea, but it looks like that pattern is DK. I'll either look for an aran one or try to adjust the pattern. Hope your Sophie shawl is going well!

Really enjoyed this kind of video content, thanks for the inspiration! We have kind of the same color pallet and love all the plans and progress that you show. Thanks for the company, I was knitting on woolly socks while looking at this video. 🥰🤗🍂🍁

Cowls are great. I made one last year to use up some wool. It’s a great layer that’s less than a sweater/cardigan but more than a scarf. Highly recommend!

There's nothing wrong with looking like you're from a Thomas Hardy novel! My ideal aesthetic would be 19th century mill worker with clogs and a lovely shawl.
@threadandyarn

I'm stuck on sleeve island too with wooden dpn needles, I found it immensely slow! So I switched to round needles and worked the magic loop technique - was so fast all of a sudden, got like 3 times as much done as I would have using the dpn! Then I noticed my tension being COMPLETELY off, with the round needles, so in the end I had to unravel and go back to the dpns, for consistency sake 😢
@threadandyarn
@threadandyarn 10 месяцев назад
Oh gosh what a pain!!! You're right though, the tension is definitely different. I'm much looser with DPNs, so I'm trying to knit more loosely on my short circs now they've arrived. I'll just do circs from now on!

I love your videos because of the big picture/whole wardrobe you’re planning and also covering so many crafts. Thank you for sharing them! I’m thinking about joining in someday, if I can get it together. 😅 Btw Laine mag is Finnish, so apparently the pronunciation and meaning is not what people might imagine, it means “waves” and pronounced something like “line-nah” (maybe??!) Regarding Textured Knits-I immediately needed to get a copy when I discovered it because I agree, textured stitches seem really really appealing. I am still trying to decide which of two jumpers I want to start first from there! The cover one is def one of the options.
