I got a Pace Aventon ebike from Berts. How can I keep the ebike battery charged at the same time as I'm ridding to increase my distance. The Pace ebike is 500w and the charger is 48v.I have a Ever Start 750w Power Inverter and I attached it with a Scooter battery. So I went to Inter State and showed him how I hooked the battery to it to keep the ebike battery charged .He told me sense the charger is 48v I need 4 small batteries to make it 48v cause each battery is 12v. But see 1 scooter battery powered on the 750w power inverter. He told me to little volts can mess up some thing . Can any 1 add on that please ??

Contacted their support a while back about the computer/battery. The display shows you how much you have left at your pedal assist level if you were to keep going at it so you dont get caught somewhere and out of battery so if you keep going at level 5, the battery on the display will drain faster and be reflected. Im not sure if what i said makes sense, but they told me to just worry about the display more than the battery itself. I've been able to install a suspension fork and straighter bars and it runs great now. You can a tapered fork with quick release dropouts and it should fit the bike well enough, though you might need a 20mm adapter for the front brakes.

Bought one when my car broke down and no part to fix it so no ETA as to when. No rentals, no loaners, hello ebike. The PACE had excellent reviews so that’s what I got. I commuted to work on it every day until the temperature dropped into the teens and did some recreational rides as well. I love this bike-it’s a blast to ride. I put a longer seat post on it so I could stretch my legs out a bit and also added the fenders and a rear rack. Rode through a deluge one day with rivers and lakes on the trail; it was the best bike ride I’ve ever had. I don’t know what the hangup some people have with the swept-back handlebars is but I love ‘em. There are two ways to raise the handlebars but Aventon doesn’t show either in their video. If you buy an assembled bike make sure the shop adjusts the handlebars to the height you want. If you assemble it yourself you’ll have to figure out how to do it. I ride this bike on roads with 40 mph speed limits and I feel like I fit right in with the traffic at 28 mph. I could never do that with my road bike. In 90 days I put 814 miles on the bike-it’s a really fun ride.

I just bought one and have five rides in for about 32 miles. So far so good. I love the bike. From throttle to 5 levels of pedal assist to 8 manual gears you have many choices. Now no matter where I ride I can make it through without "walking" the bike and still get a good workout.

@IrishBiteGirl 5 лет назад
@@hammer2787 They are charging $1400 for the bike, grinding is relatively cheap and easy. Paint was going to be added either way. I'm hoping they did it to make the bike look nicer, since that's fine. The issue is, most welders only grind down their welds if they are done poorly, since you can't tell after it has been grounded down.
@EricFB
@EricFB 5 лет назад
@@IrishBiteGirl It's got nothing to do with what the welder wants. If the manufacturer wants smooth welds they'll be instructed to smooth them out. I'd say they;re decent, they run strait and arent choppy on the edges. Even my trek enduro bike has sanded welds, makes the frame look seamless.
@IrishBiteGirl
@IrishBiteGirl 5 лет назад
@@EricFB All I'm saying is that it makes it much harder to tell if the weld is bad or not when sanded and ground down smooth like that. Of course if you trust the brand, like Trek, no issue then imo. I just personally wouldn't be rough on any bike with sanded (hidden) welds if I didn't know and trust the brand. I do understand it isn't the welder's choice, no blame on them.

The thing with those LCD monitors is that they were originally designed to work with SLA batteries not Lithium so they don't accurately read the battery charge. I had the same problem with mine from my kit. It shows 4 bars of juice left and then about a half mile later the battery is out of enough power to supply the motor so it shuts off.
@KevCentral
@KevCentral 5 лет назад
Thanks for sharing. Do you have any reference where I can read up on it?

@@KevCentral Not the OP, but it's a common thing. Compare discharge curves and you'll see Li will hold voltage longer.
@ELECTRICBIKEDIYLIFE
@ELECTRICBIKEDIYLIFE 5 лет назад
@@KevCentral The motor controllers in ebikes and kits have a low voltage cutoff that keeps the battery from being over discharged to protect it from damage. The computer is reading the voltage left and not the capacity. The pack might still have plenty of capacity left but if the voltage drops below the cutoff, the controller shuts down. The battery packs are wired up in series parallel to get both higher voltage and higher capacity because the cells are smaller and there's more of them. SLA battery packs just tend to be wired in series because each battery is much larger and already has a higher capacity and voltage but they have a horrible discharge and don't last as long as Lithium packs. Your 48V battery pack is actually closer to 54-56V at full charge and I believe the standard low cutoff is at 42 volts.

I like the idea of eBikes for commuters and people who have injuries or pains that keep them from riding a regular bike, but other than in those cases I feel they negate the beauty of the simplicity and efficiency of a traditional bike. Also, eBikes seem a bit dangerous for other bike path users considering the speeds they can reach. With those critiques aside, this bike looks pretty well built and those welds are crazy clean! Keep up the good work Kev.
@21Trainman
@21Trainman 5 лет назад
Daniel Ruezga As a perfectly capable rider who has converted his bike to electric, I see where you’re coming from with regards to the simplicity argument. I do, however, believe that the question of speed is more a matter of regulation and enforcement than the technology itself, since legally an ebike in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico can only have power up to 20 mph, where in most of Europe it’s 15. Something like this is legally speaking a moped, and needs to be registered and operated as such. A bike within the legal category of electric assist bicycle can only go as fast as 20 mph under its own power - far slower than many trail users already ride, at least where I’m from. I believe that if the laws classifying and regulating ebikes could be properly enforced, they would be much safer to all around them, and they wouldn’t have the negative reputation they do now. If you are looking for a more graduated system, check out California’s 5-class ebike laws.
@ThatClassic70sGirl
@ThatClassic70sGirl 5 лет назад
@@21Trainman The regulatory agencies just need to chill, IMO. The U.S. lacks the bicycle infrastructure of many European countries; and all the micromanagement and cracking down does is make commuter cycling that much less a viable alternative to our congested roads and highways.

Whatever gets people out and exercising, even a bit, is a plus I believe. Especially in countries with widespread and rampant obesity. For once you're outside you'll likely do other things, and move around, and less likely fall prey to depression or compulsory eating.
@RuezgaDaniel
@RuezgaDaniel 5 лет назад
@@EditioCastigata I feel bikes can already serve that purpose, but eBikes kind of reduce the excersise factor and make riding the bike easier by doing part (if not most) of the work. In a previous video Kev himself said he had to lay off riding his eBike because he was gaining weight. To me, eBikes seem like a "cool new toy" like a hoverboard or air pods. If not used by someone with physical issues, an eBike just seems like an underpowered scooter or moped and less like an efficient human-powered machine. Just my thoughts.
@RuezgaDaniel
@RuezgaDaniel 5 лет назад
@@ThatClassic70sGirl Yeah, the US needs to work on bike infrastructure. My city is really dangerous for cyclists and only has 1 bike trail! As Americans we have too much of a "We have all this land so let's spread everything out" mentality when it comes to laying out cities. My city has way less people than say Oakland or San Francisco, but geographically it is much more spread out than either of those two cities (probably around 4x bigger).

Wing is a 'brand' in logo only. They contract with a 3rd party chinesium factory, whereas Aventon does ALL of their own manufacturing, design, engineering, quality control. 90% of the so called 'brands' like Wing (Rad, Ride1Up, Lectric, Himiway) that are sold on line only, and contract with 3rd party chinesium low quality factories, will be gone in 5 years, once the US market for ebikes gains maturity. People wont tolerate that junk for long, and will be very frustrated when they can't find anyone willing to service their junk, or find them some parts.

I have owned 4 different Ebikes. One Bosch powered center drive and three rear hub motor bikes. The rear hub motor bikes all were much more fun to ride in top assist mode. The Bosch center drive seemed okay switching pedal assist modes. Maybe because it just seems more utilitarian than a rear hub. It is so German to sap the the joy out riding a bike..lol. Rear hubs are just more fun IMHO.

Just got this exact bike on Craig’s ?List and it was a screaming deal. Even came with an extra battery! And the website says they cost 479$. So far I love this bike. There’s a learning curve to it, I usually have pedal assist at 0 when I am making a turn so I don’t skid on stones or take off too fast. This is my first ebike so I do t have anything else to compare it to. My only concern is finding a mechanic to keep it tuned up.

@jakegarrett8109
@jakegarrett8109 5 лет назад
Road bikes normally go about 30 mph (I average 19.5 to 20 mph on gravel even, that's counting snack breaks), on pavement you'll be averaging at least 25 mph, and hitting 30 mph pretty routinely (and if there are hills, obviously faster like 35+ mph). I'm not sure if the higher end road bike helmets are designed differently, but typically you go much faster on them, so I would imagine they should be designing for that speed. But that's a good question, I hope they are designed for the faster speed, but I'm not sure what all testing each company does.

That is the computer adjusting based on required output. If you’re pedaling up a hill it will take away bars because the bike is requiring more power. Transition from hills to a flat surface and it will take less power, so the battery will last longer and show more bars.

49lbs. Since the video I’ve continued riding it and have peaked at 29 miles on a charge. That’s in PAS 5 on (mostly) flat terrain.

Hi! I bought a pace 500 at erik's, in Illinois, I have a question .. I started to charge the battery and in theory it is already complete, but the green indicator is only on in a single line, where it says L. On the lcd screen it shows that the whole bar is full, so I don't understand, why does it show me only a stripe on the battery? is it a failure? the transformer turned green as if charging was complete.

Love the welds! Two downs for it. First, no fenders. I just can’t get over a non-mountain bike without fenders. Second, the kickstand looks like it’d lock up with the petals when you back it up. I prefer a more rear mounted kick.

You can add PDW fenders for $22. Or Aventon's fenders for $69. You can EASILY add a rear mount kickstand. Everything else about the ebike has no equal on the market, for anything close to that price point. I out accelerate everyone that rides a 28 mph mid drive ebike like a Trek or Giant, because mid drives are very slow to help your assist, and you pay north of $4000 for that type of ebike to get any level of quality, where they haven't compromised on the rest of the ebike due to the super high cost that Bosch or Brose charges for both their motors or batteries. Its insane what people are paying for that way overpriced stuff that doesn't need to be that high priced. Bosch motor by itself sitting on a shelf is over $1100. Bosch Battery that is rather tiny at 400 watt hours, is north of $900. Its absurd. And the larger battery at 500 watt hours coming on a Bosch mid drive ebike is size of the Pace 500 Samsung battery that only costs only $369. AND if you wanted to go larger capacity you could easily order a 672 watthour Samsung battery to fit the Pace for under $500 from multiple battery sources. Can't do that with Bosch. With Bosch mid drives (Brose, etc) their batteries are proprietary, so you are always going to be paying a massive premium., and ALWAYS have to buy the battery from them !

The welds are indeed wonderful. Needs fenders and a rear rack for 1399. As a commuter bike (city bike) one is going to wanna carry stuff and not have stuff flinging up off the tires. ✌️

I just purchased the Pace 500 and so far it has been mostly fun. My concern is with the Power Assist level presets (PAS). From a dead stop it takes me couple feet to get my balance. But if the Pace 500 is in Pedal Assist Level 1 while I getting my footing the bike quickly accelerates to 13 MPH. Caught me off guard the first time I was on the bike and I almost fell. Same problem with slowing through a turn. There is no ramp up to the various Power Assist levels, it takes you to the max speed of that level as quickly as the motor can accelerate. I have gotten into the habit of setting the PAS to 0 or off when starting from a stop. I think the initial PAS Levels are too hot. You got five PAS levels to work with. Why not have the first level at slow 7 or 8 MPH. Wish there was a way to adjust these settings.
@kirkinphx333
@kirkinphx333 4 года назад
No need to set pas to 0. Just grab the rear brake lever and move in but not far enough to brake. I use that for tight turns when I am going slow but don't want assist to take over.
@davidgreene8383
@davidgreene8383 4 года назад
@@kirkinphx333 That’s a great tip. Tried that today and it works. This is my first ebike and it is a different style of riding. Never realized that on my old bike that I pedaled into turns to maintain speed. I’m learning to coast into corners - you have the motor to regain any speed lost. Still think that PAS should default to 0 on power up and that the PAS 1 should be lower than 13 MPH. But I’m adjusting and having fun.

$6k sounds like a normal road bike WITHOUT motor... Basically the lowest end Bianchi bicycle (no motor) is still like $1k, its not a big box bike! Even the low end ones have Bianchi's carbon/Kevlar hybrid forks (checker pattern of carbon fiber and Kevlar, takes out a tremendous amount of road vibrations), and even the low end bikes are pretty light weight at around 20 pounds even with the garbage wheelsets they have (I'm guessing my frame with seat, crank, bars etc, everything but the wheels is like 6 pounds max, it feels more like 4-5, but its probably just my brain playing a trick since its so bulky but you lift it up and its like Styrofoam... Mine is the allow frame!). But yes, I can buy used cars for $250, and most cars my family has owned are below $1k. It would be awesome if they could start pumping out carbon frames at $200, but high quality carbon will cost $400 for the carbon alone (at least, I've used carbon fiber that's like $100 per square foot...)

As someone who knows what to look for in a ebike package for COMMUTING. This bike has the right stuff. You actually want a cruiser bike as a platform and 48v 500w is a top notch combo. The problems on this bike are WHEEL SIZE AND RIGID FORK. You want a 700c wheel size and suspension fork and seat post. Its the only downside to this package. I assume these are 26inch wheels and that just dosent cut it in the ebike world, unless your riding it around for fun. You want to be seen in traffic and 700c wheels not only make you more visible but ride better as well. Forks are cheap and so is a suspension post. The motor and battery make this package as well as rear hub motor for commuters. Mid drives have some serious limitations, but place the center of gravity where it should be. WEAR A BRIGHT COLORED VEST WITH THIS PACKAGE, because its still not the best profile. Good report.
@AventonBikesVideos
@AventonBikesVideos 5 лет назад
Thanks for the comments! The Pace 500 wheels are actually 27.5" / 650b, not 26". With the fat, wide 27.5" tire, the circumference is about the same as some 700c tire/wheel setups, but can be significantly more comfortable and grippy because there is much more air volume.
@thiosemicarbizidebenzoylal2921
Thanks for clarifying as a very competitive package then. I would suggest the use of bright colors for all manufacturers. Ebikes as commuters need to be seen by other motorist.

Too many overlooked details for my taste that don't need more than cheap amendments: 1. Chain has too much slack. 2. LED lights can be gotten for like 20€, front and rear. Should be shipped with the bike. 3. Ebike that drives faster than 15mph and asked price above 800€: ship it with a flex or damping suspension seatpost. 4. I miss mounts for bottle holders on this bike. I guess it's not possible due to the awkward positioning of the battery and they left them out to obscure that. 5. Top tube could have a mount for a bag, to transport snacks, a cam, or mobile.

When in pedal assist or throttled power, how often do you change gears? On a normal bike, the gears ⚙️ help the rider maintain cadence on changing terrain. So is not an Ebike’s pedal assist accomplishing the same thing? And with the motor in the rear hub, I don’t see how the gearing could mechanically benefit the motor. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Great video review, but these are the nagging questions I have when it comes to Ebikes.

In New York, and several other states, you can’t use a self-propelled vehicle, like a hover board or those scooters that places like Pep Boys used to sell, on the street. I wonder how eBikes with a self-propelled mode would be classified? I haven’t seen a moped in over 30 years, and I don’t thin’ the 2-stroke bicycles conversions are popular enough around here for anyone to notice, so I don’t know how the local constabulary have been dealing with them.
